Mufasa was appointed by Robert as the vanguard commander of the Seven Kingdoms allied forces, and he will lead the advance troops to arrive at The Wall first.
Mufasa was strengthened by the Nine-Colored Deer; a pattern of seven stars appeared on his chest, shaped like a ladle, which was indeed the big dipper.
After bestowing the power of the big dipper upon Mufasa, the Nine-Colored Deer disappeared into the jungle.
Mufasa could feel his magic power and spirit double. His other stats—strength, speed, and intelligence—remained unchanged.
Furthermore, he gained a new talent: 'Gods Chosen'.
Mufasa's current stats are as follows:
"Name: Mufasa Lannister"
"Identity: Noble"
"Class: Knight"
"Strength: 25"
"Speed: 25"
"Intelligence: 25"
"Spirit: 50"
"Magic Power: 50"
"Talents: Skinchanger, Mage, Dreamwalker, Gods Chosen."
"Skinchanger: Grants Mufasa the ability to control animals."
"Mage: Grants Mufasa powerful magical talent and learning ability."
"Dreamwalker: Grants Mufasa the possibility to see the past and future in dreams."
"Gods Chosen: A unique talent bestowed upon Mufasa by the Nine-Colored Deer. From now on, Mufasa has nine lives, but each death reduces the count by one."
Mufasa felt an unprecedented sense of power surging within him.
He tried the strongest magic Melisandre had taught him: Fire Bird Technique.
"Thousand Birds — Fire Dance"
Mufasa formed hand seals and summoned a thousand dancing fiery-red birds. They emitted bursting flames in the air, instantly lighting up the night sky like day.
After returning to King's Landing, King Robert established a War Council, composed of King Robert, Eddard Stark, Tywin Lannister, Balon Greyjoy, Mace Tyrell, Renly, Varys, Baelish, Pycelle, Barristan, and Mufasa.
The Vale, The Riverlands, and Dorne did not participate, but that was due to their own reasons.
In this War Council, everyone except Mufasa was a former member of the Small Council, a high-ranking Duke, or the King himself.
As the decision to send troops Beyond the Wall had already been made, Varys shared the latest intelligence regarding Daenerys with everyone.
Daenerys Targaryen, the last princess of the Targaryen Family; her brother Viserys had already died wearing a crown of molten gold.
According to Varys's informants, Daenerys Targaryen had already hatched three dragon hatchlings.
Therefore, King Robert decided to send someone to assassinate Daenerys Targaryen.
At this moment, Baelish proposed that Eddard Stark's bastard, Jon Snow, should complete this mission.
"What, Baelish? You would actually send a child to assassinate another child!" Eddard Stark felt that Baelish was simply inhuman.
"Eddard, Catelyn was the one who brought this up to me. If you have any complaints, you can go back and ask Catelyn!" Baelish laughed nonchalantly.
"Robert, do you also agree with this proposal?" Eddard Stark looked toward King Robert.
A cloud of worry hung over his face at this moment, and he finally nodded in silence.
And so, Jon Snow was sent to assassinate Daenerys Targaryen.
In the South Mountain Nursing Home, after Jon Snow had fed the horses, he was about to go back and rest when an old man suddenly appeared behind him.
"Oh gods, you nearly scared me to death. Old man, do you need something?" Jon Snow asked.
"Jon Snow, you say you are Eddard Stark's bastard? But I feel you don't look like Eddard Stark did in his youth. You look more like Prince Rhaegar."
"Do you know who Rhaegar is?" the old man asked.
"The man who abducted Lyanna and was eventually killed by King Robert himself on The Trident."
"I look like him? I don't have silver hair or violet eyes," Jon Snow said.
"It's your temperament that resembles him, not your appearance. You both possess an innate melancholic air," the old man said.
"That's impossible!" Jon Snow retorted. He simply took him for a senile old man and stopped wasting words on him.
When the King's summons reached the South Mountain Nursing Home, Jon Snow could not believe he had been assigned such a task.
He felt helpless; he did not want to carry out the mission to assassinate Daenerys.
But if he didn't, Eddard Stark would surely become the target of public criticism.
In the end, Jon Snow took up the blade and quietly set sail alone for the continent of Essos across the Narrow Sea.
After Eddard Stark returned to the Tower of the Hand, he had a massive argument with Catelyn Tully, and for the first time, he slapped her.
In a fit of rage, Catelyn Tully left for her childhood home, returning to Riverrun with some retainers of the Tully family.
King Robert and Eddard Stark also clashed over this matter, and the relationship between the two became strained.
To ease the tension with Eddard, King Robert sought him out privately for a drink. Without any attendants, they went to a tavern in King's Landing at night to drink.
"Ned, I've heard some rumors lately," King Robert said after finishing the wine in his horn cup.
"Rumors? Rumors are like prophecies; the more they're spread, the more bizarre they become!" Eddard Stark said, already somewhat drunk.
"Indeed, rumors are like prophecies. They change as they're passed around. Even the original rumor-monger might be shocked to hear their own rumor half a year later!" King Robert said drunkenly.
The two drank their fill that night, but while returning to The Red Keep, a hoodlum from Flea Bottom stabbed Robert with a knife.
The next day, King Robert's body was taken to the Great Sept. His death could be described as extremely dramatic, and the hoodlum was nowhere to be found.
However, Eddard Stark was also placed under house arrest. The Northern lords protested strongly, demanding his release.
But Eddard Stark himself stated that he was willing to undergo a fair trial.
The old king is dead; the new king ascends.
Joffrey's coronation was very simple because the royal family was essentially broke and drowning in debt.
When Joffrey presided over his first War Council, he made a world-shaking move.
"A new king needs to appoint a new Hand. Since Lord Eddard Stark has not yet cleared the suspicion of regicide, I shall temporarily reclaim his hand of the king pin. I now appoint my brother, Mufasa, as the new hand of the king."
The others were stunned. They glanced at Tywin's expression, but his face was as still as water, revealing nothing.
Mufasa walked up to Joffrey, took the Hand brooch, and pinned it to his chest.
"Now, my Hand! Do you have any suggestions for your King? Regarding the people's livelihood, military matters, politics, and such?" Joffrey asked.
"Your Majesty, I believe the security of the royal family is of paramount importance to the realm, and seven Kingsguard are not enough to protect all royal members."
"Therefore, I suggest expanding the Kingsguard from a group of seven to twelve seats of the Knights of the Round Table," Mufasa said.
