"Just got here, not long ago." Adrian naturally held her in return, asking in a low voice, "Why did you wake up?"
"I woke up because I was thirsty."
As soon as Serena touched the man's tall, broad body, a sense of security welled up. She suddenly recalled how she used to nestle in his arms watching movies, and she just wanted to stay with him: "Did you have dinner yet?"
"Yeah." Adrian gathered her thick hair and tucked it behind her shoulder, his tone gentle and coaxing, "Get up, I'll get you some water."
Serena stayed perfectly still, her face pressed against his chest: "Not that thirsty... just want to hold you a bit longer."
Adrian's lips curved, and he took her hands and put them around his neck: "Hold on tight."
Saying that, he supported her thighs and hips with his big hands, easily lifting her up. He walked to the water dispenser, poured a glass of warm water, tested the temperature himself, then held it to her lips.
