Sophia kept staring at Alex, while her mind was at war with her, not being able to say a word. At the end of the day she was just a teenager who had to learn how to survive in her own family. So, she has always believed that the devil are the people who shout, who abuse, who hurt, who ignore. Now, how is she supposed to take this? How is she supposed to handle this form of devil? The devil, who is good at sweet talking. The devil, who shows care towards her. Is he even the devil?
Yes, he is. And so is his family. She has to stay away from these people, she has to protect herself. She has to leave this crazy man as soon as possible, or else she will go insane. Or worse, she might end up falling in love with the man, who loves someone else.
Alex watched his little wife who was staring at him with eyes that were speaking thousands of things at once, while remaining silent the whole time. Alex wanted to give her some time, to know about her thoughts, to handle her emotions, to adjust her feelings. But everyone was waiting.
The more he delayed, the more the chances of someone coming and checking on Sophia will increase. They don't even like her. What would they do when they would see her in such a vulnerable state? What if they mock her? What if they scold her?
No, he can't let that happen. He can't let his family bully his wife. Not when she is already overwhelmed. So, he did what his mother always does, when he would end up getting hurt. He took a deep puff and then blew it into Sophia's face. Especially her eyes, who feel like they might cry at any given moment now.
"Let's have dinner, Sophia." Alex urged softly, in a mere whisper, to which Sophia nodded.
It took her some moments, but she still was successful in wading away the sadness and tears from her eyes. Thus, the couple walked hand in hand as they approached the dining table. The Raichands followed, as they were in the hall till now.
~~
Luckily, the servants were already prepared and the dinner was ready. The dinner went smoothly and peacefully to Sophia's surprise. Nobody said a word. Everyone wished each other good night, including Sophia.
And that's how Sophia's first day as Sophia Raichand passed.
~~
"Shit. Shit. Shit. I am going to be late." Sophia screamed as she stared at her new phone for the nth time. Not because the phone was lovely, but because the time was running, like a ticking bomb.
She can't afford to be late today, not after yesterday's torture. She would rather die than be late. She tries her best to keep her shit together and get dressed in one go but damn man, she has got a big room.
A big room piled up with countless bags from which she had to find the items to make an outfit and wear it, while taking care of her hair and face altogether. She isn't going to sell vegetables in the market. She is going to the most prestigious organization of the country, as the general manager of The V International.
She has a reputation to maintain.
And thus after struggling for twenty more minutes, she finally kicked herself out of her new room and ran for her life, basically to the stairs, then to the main entrance.
The Raichands just stare at the thunderstorm that passed from her room to the main entrance. But.. but.. But.. the moment Sophia reached outside, she realized that she had forgotten the phone.
Thus, she ran all the way back to her room, grabbed her phone and ran again back to the main gate of the house.
As if she hasn't run a marathon till now, only after looking at the car, she cursed again and ran back to her room, where she searched for the keys in the piles of bags and then ran back to the main gate.
Soon, she unlocked the car, entered inside and drove like a madman once again, all this just to reach in time.
The fear of Vir is real, after all. Or maybe it's the fear of disappointing Ms. Lee.
~~
As expected before the clock strike ten, Sophia was already sitting in her desk, while facing Ms. Lee, the senior she respects and the lady who betrayed her yesterday. Not her fault, though.
"Oh my, you are on time today." Vir chimed happily as he watched his secretary and his GM working together. It lightened up his somewhat soiled mood.
Sophia just rolled her eyes, while Ms. Lee nodded out of courtesy.
" So, what's the schedule for today?" Vir asked, his voice still warm, but now carrying the authority of the CEO in it.
"Two meetings. Lunch with the Shrikants. One overseas meeting followed by dinner at the charity event, conducted by the Vrishvan organization. That would be all for the day." Ms. Lee explained politely.
"Okay." Vir acknowledged politely.
"Today's schedule' mail has already been sent to you." Ms. Lee added to which Vir nodded.
" What's the status of Shrikant's files? " Vir asked Sophia, the person in charge.
"It's been lying on your desk since morning, if you would have cared to check." Sophia replied annoyingly, not giving any face to her serious-looking, handsome boss. For god sake, she hasn't even eaten anything and here this pest comes to pester them.
Not to mention all the stress she went through just to reach on time, in the morning.
" O, someone's under the weather today. I'll be cautious." Vir commented, the smile finding its way back on his face. Sophia just shook her head, as if that could be the only valid response to this nuisance of a statement.
Ms. Lee lifted her head from the screen and stare at Sophia in concern for a minute, before giving ' I don't get paid enough for this' look and burying herself in front of the screen.
" Wow, you really have a great self-preservation system. Unfortunately, you shaking your head is not gonna help. But you, going to the cafeteria to grab some food with me, definitely will. So, let's go, as, if I am not wrong, then you are accompanying me to lunch with Shrikant's. Right! Can't jeopardize that deal. "Vir announced, while staring at Ms. Lee, as if he were having a normal conversation with her and Sophia.
"Don't you dare. I have yet to finish these fifty files that have arrived this morning. Not to mention the work that has piled up from yesterday. I will bury you beneath this building of files if you dare distract me today. Leave." Sophia waved at him while getting buried in her work once again.
Ms. Lee offered a quick sympathetic look before burying herself in her work. While Vir just looked at the two hamsters running in the circular wheel, called work. Like, come on, work is not life. And life is not all work. Live your life. Love your life and most importantly, enjoy your life. For god's sake.
"Are we understaffed?" Vir asked Ms. Lee quite seriously, who was trying her best to be courteous, despite all the disturbance. Well, Vir has always believed to be a fair boss, who cares about his employees and who solve and resolves all his employees problem. Then, how come the most important people of his company are suffering.
Like what do you mean, they don't even have a moment to spare to him. To say nothing about being as carefree as him.
