Souki looked at Yukiri's tense expression, curiosity flickering in his eyes before it was smothered by concern. "Hey, hey, hey, are you ok? I noticed you keep making that face. I should have said something sooner."
She still didn't meet his eyes, her gaze darting to his tail, the floor, the wall anything but his face.
Souki stood there awkwardly for a few seconds before pulling at her hand. "Ok, that's it. We are going to play some Minecraft. That cheers me up, so it should cheer you up, too."
Strangely, Yukiri didn't resist, letting herself get dragged along by Souki. Her mind was still fuzzy.
The quiet whir of the computer console was the only sound in the room as the Mojang title screen loaded up. Yukiri sat on the edge of the chair, staring blankly at the screen while Souki pulled out a paper with a code, gently floating it towards Yukiri.
"Alright, new world," Souki said, clicking on his keyboard.
Yukiri gripped her cardigan her thumb idly pressing down on the fabric. "What do I do?" she murmured softly, her voice missing its usual bite.
Souki glanced sideways at her, his mana giving off a low, pulsating spike against him.
"You build," he said, shifting his character over to dump a stack of building blocks into her inventory. "Here. I'm gonna go mine. You can kill those white woolly things for food. I will craft a furnace for you, ok?"
A tiny, almost imperceptible twitch appeared at the corner of Yukiri's mouth before she suppressed it, finally moving her character forward. "I know the basics. Played a bit before. Do I look like I can't recognise a sheep?"
"Hey, I'm just guessing'," Souki replied with a light laugh, relieved to hear a faint spark back in her tone. He leaned back against the couch frame, keeping his pace steady on the game so she wouldn't feel rushed. "So... are you going to tell me what had you looking like a hag?"
Yukiri's fingers tightened on the controller, her character coming to a complete standstill at the edge of the stone platform. "Hag? That's new."
