Outwardly, he simply nodded.

The storm gradually calmed, though faint thunder still rolled across the horizon as if unwilling to fully retreat.

From behind a parked SUV, Agent Coulson stepped forward, adjusting his suit jacket as though divine lightning storms were part of his daily schedule.

"So," Coulson asked politely, glancing up at the swirling clouds, "how exactly do you plan on getting back?"

Thor turned his gaze skyward, confidence restored.

"I am certain Heimdall will find a way," he said firmly. "There is a reason my father appointed him guardian of the Bifrost. None see more clearly than he."

"What is the Bifrost?" Ethan asked.

"It's the rainbow-like light you saw when we first appeared on Earth," Sif replied. "With it, we can travel between different worlds quickly and easily."

Ethan nodded thoughtfully. "So… an interplanetary transporter. Cool. I'd love to study it," he murmured.

Thor glanced at him. "You would be welcome to study it."

"Alright. I'll visit Asgard once things cool down here," Ethan said casually.

Thor gave a firm nod. Then he stepped forward, lifting Mjolnir slightly as he looked toward the sky.

"Heimdall! Open the bridge!" he shouted.

…Nothing happened.

The desert wind blew quietly.

Sif frowned. "Perhaps Loki is interfering."

Thor frowned as he looked up. He raised his voice again.

"Heimdall! Open the bridge as swiftly as you can!"

Silence answered him once more.

Thor exhaled slowly, then turned to the others. "Stand back. If Heimdall opens the Bifrost without warning, it would be wise not to stand too close."

Everyone quickly backed away, putting distance between themselves and Thor.

He stood alone beneath the open sky, gripping Mjolnir, waiting for the Rainbow Bridge to answer his call.

After just a few minutes, the sky above shimmered.

A circular distortion formed in the clouds—then a brilliant pillar of prismatic light descended from the heavens, striking the ground before Thor with overwhelming force.

The Bifrost had opened.

Wind spiraled inward as the radiant beam illuminated the desert in shifting colors.

Thor turned toward the others one last time. Sif and the Warriors Three stepped beside him.

They offered brief nods and small waves in farewell.

"Farewell, friends of Midgard," Thor said.

Then, without hesitation, the four stepped into the beam.

The light surged upward in a blinding flash—

—and vanished.

The desert fell silent once more.

"Well, I guess our work here is done," Ethan said as he turned and began walking back toward the convoy.

Sharon and Storm followed behind him.

Storm glanced back at the scorched battlefield. "I really would have loved to fight him," he muttered.

Ethan shrugged lightly. "You'll get your chance later."

Meanwhile, Coulson remained behind, studying the circular markings burned deep into the ground where the Bifrost had struck.

He adjusted his tie thoughtfully and looked up at the clear sky.

"It makes me wonder," Coulson said quietly, "could it also be used as a weapon?"

Erik Selvig, who had been examining the residual energy patterns with fascination, nodded slowly.

"It can," Erik replied. "At least according to the mythical stories about Asgard recorded on Earth. The Bifrost is described as both a bridge… and a planet-destroyer-level weapon."

Coulson glanced at him.

"…Good to know."

In the distance, Ethan paused briefly, having overheard the last part. He looked at the massive circular scar left in the desert.

An interstellar gateway.

And potentially a superweapon.

"…Yeah," he murmured to himself. "I definitely need to study that."

On Asgard

The golden halls of Asgard were tense with silence.

Thor stood tall, Mjolnir in hand, facing his brother. Across from him stood Loki—calm on the surface, but with tension flickering behind his eyes.

Queen Frigga stood between them, her gaze heavy with disappointment.

"Loki," Frigga said softly, yet firmly. "Tell me it is a lie. You did not send the Destroyer to kill Thor?"

Loki drew in a slow breath. "Mother… it was not like that."

Thor stepped forward, lightning faintly crackling around him. "Why lie now, Loki? Why not reveal your grand plan—to rule Asgard by eliminating me?"

Loki just looked at him nor denying nor expecting.

"All you ever had to do was ask," Thor continued. "I would have stood aside if Father had chosen you. Yet you sent the Destroyer after me?"

Loki let out a hollow laugh.

"As if you would have given it to me," he replied coldly.

Thor's expression hardened. "You doubt my word?"

"I doubt your understanding," Loki snapped. "You were born to rule. Groomed for it. Celebrated for it. I was merely… a accesory."

Frigga's voice cut in sharply. "Enough."

The chamber echoed with her authority.

"You are both sons of Asgard," she said, looking from one to the other. "Not rivals."

Loki's composure wavered for a fraction of a second.

"You were ready to wage war and doom our realm," Loki said to Thor. "Father saw it. I saw it. And yet you were still the favored one."

"I was a fool," Thor admitted, his voice steady. "But I have changed."

Loki's eyes flickered—uncertainty, anger and disdain.

"Changed?" Loki repeated. "Because you were cast out? Because you suffered for a handful of days on Midgard?"

Thor stepped closer.

"I learned what it means to be worthy," he said. "Not to rule—but to protect."

Lightning rumbled faintly outside the palace.

"For once," Thor continued, "I am not asking for the throne. I am asking for my brother."

Silence filled the hall.

Loki looked away first.

"You should have stayed banished," he said quietly.

Then, in a sudden burst of green light, illusions filled the chamber—multiple Lokis circling Thor from every direction.

"You always were better at speeches than politics."

Daggers of searing energy formed in the hands of the illusions.

Thor tightened his grip on Mjolnir.

"Loki," he warned.

Frigga's voice rang out sharply. "Stop this at once!"

But one of the illusions lunged.

Thor deflected the strike, lightning flashing as illusion met thunder. The copies shattered into green fragments of light—

—but the real Loki was already moving.

And Asgard trembled as brother once again stood against brother.
