Aurora had barely arrived at the system's pointed location when the first wave of demon beasts emerged from between the trees.
There were so many of them that, for several seconds, the mountain slope seemed to move. Nearly five hundred creatures poured upward through the snow-dusted forest, their bodies colliding and scrambling over one another as they advanced toward the valley. Their crimson eyes glowed through the mist, and their combined roars shook loose snow from the branches overhead.
Aurora stood several dozen meters away from the charging army with Elixir beside her, her fingers tightening around the two small claw knives she had carried with her. She had expected another attack, but seeing the sheer number of creatures still sent a cold shiver through her.
Five hundred.
Whoever had orchestrated this hadn't merely repeated the previous attack. They had more than doubled it.
"They are here," Elixir murmured.
