Aurora tied the final vine tightly around the thick wooden beam before finally leaning back slightly to inspect the first completed layer of the kitchen roof above her.
The overlapping giant leaves and tightly woven grass already provided decent coverage from sunlight, and once she added the bark pieces and hides beneath the second layer, the roof would become strong enough to withstand heavy rain too.
Sweat rolled down the side of her neck while her arms ached from lifting and weaving materials for nearly the entire morning, but seeing visible progress made the exhaustion worth it.
She was just about to climb down from the stone she was standing on when the faint sound of movement reached her ears.
Aurora instantly stilled. Her assassin instincts reacted before her mind did. Someone was approaching her cave, quickly and silently. The person wasn't bothering to hide their footsteps completely yet still moved with enough control to reveal experience.
