Eugene had planned to get Hannah immediately, but he ended up driving around until his heartbeat returned to normal and he no longer looked like a boiled tomato. He even bought a milkshake from a drive-through to calm down.
By the time he finally headed to Sophie's house, the rain had almost stopped. Thanks to Sophie's coaxing, Hannah was no longer sulky when Eugene picked her up, although she was a bit disappointed that Arthur wasn't with him.
But she was surprised when she saw Arthur's car, clapping happily when Eugene said Arthur would come to take it back tomorrow--which meant she could see her daddy tomorrow. It was worth keeping his driving license alive despite not possessing a car, Eugene thought.
And the next day, almost right after they woke up, Arthur knocked on the front door, looking all puffy.
