They didn't even need to get out of the car to know that the place was closed. The sky was bright outside, but it felt like the car was filled with dark clouds.
Or was it because there was a real dark cloud on the horizon?
Arthur was the epitome of devastation at that moment. Right after screaming out 'why?!' in a world-ending tone, his head was hitting the steering wheel and stayed there for a while. He looked so pitiful that Eugene didn't even have the heart to get annoyed, although he was pretty stoked about the prospect of a cake buffet.
Drumming against the hand brake while thinking, Eugene tilted his head toward the maps they were using. "Did you check the opening hours?"
Arthur snapped back and immediately checked his phone, scrolling down the store's schedule. When he looked at the opening hour for that day, which was none, his jaw fell.
"Oh..."
It was the store's closing day.
Arthur groaned, and his head was back on the steering wheel.
