Haru, Riku and Yuri are just talking on their way to the cafeteria. Haru is still slightly jealous, but has learnt to become more accepting of Riku being around. They are all just laughing and talking when Sowoon approaches them.
"Hey guys."
"Hey Sowoon, what's wrong?"
"We get to plan this year's market festival!"
Riku's eyes fill with confusion and he tilts his head slightly
"What's that?"
Yuri lights up excitedly. It's like his entire face was lit by a lightbulb
"It's amazing! The entire school goes on a 2-day camp on this beautiful mountain, and a group of the festival committee brings a bunch of decorations, and tables and stuff for the market. For the first day, everybody takes nature classes, and goes on walks, and just hangs out. Then, on the last day, the market festival starts. It begins at 6pm and goes until midnight, and at midnight there's fireworks. There are students selling everything. Food, jewellery, souvenirs, its so great."
"Uh..wow. Sounds fun!"
The group heads down to the school's student council room, meeting Yuna and Mika on the way. They all sit around a table and get to planning.
"So..I'm thinking about rainbow fireworks, and fairy lights." Mika suggests
"What about pasta for dinner?" Sowoon adds
"Hey, we could have a party at the end of day 1."
Yuri doesn't listen. He can't catch what anyone is saying. He's too busy staring at Riku. Haru sighs and taps Yuri's shoulder. Pulling him aside, and getting him to contribute. Laughing, teasing, dragging Yuri over to him, while pitching ideas. His arm wraps around Yuri's shoulder, but Yuri keeps looking back. There's something about Riku he can't deny. Is he falling for him?..
The group heads back to class after their lunchtime planning, and on the way, Yuri passes by his locker, spotting another note. He picks it up and reads the new note.
"I hope you'll have fun at the festival!"
Yuri smiles and puts the note away. He thinks to himself:
(I'll find you...I have to.)
Days later, the group meets up at school with hundreds of other students. A long line of empty buses awaits them, like their chariots of excitement, music, and happiness for the next 2 days. Upon choosing seats, Yuri and Riku are sat together. Haru gets sat next to Sowoon, while the girls are together in the back, whispering about the cute boys in front of them.
"Hey.." Riku says.
"Are the fireworks super loud?"
"I mean..yeah. Even after, there's still a bunch of screams and excited chatter. Why?"
Riku sinks into his bus seat slightly. Clutching onto his bag tightly.
"G-great...that's..awesome."
Yuri smirks slightly. His face filling with amusement
"Are you afraid of loud noises? That's...cute."
Haru's head snaps up and he looks over at the two. He takes off his headphones.
"What the hell.." He mutters quietly. Watching Yuri pinch Riku's cheeks and tease him lovingly. He can't stand it..
ARRIVAL
Yuri and Riku hop off the bus together when their bus arrives. Still laughing themselves to tears, and teasing cutely. Yuri looks..happy. Like he's in love. Haru can barely even go near them anymore with this new dynamic between them. It's painful in every way possible. The group meets up and walks down to the campground together. The air is crisp, and there are freshwater rivers flowing down the mountain.
Haru manages to last through the room selections with Yuri and Riku so close, where just to his luck, Yuri and Riku get to share a room. He feels his heart sink but he knows Yuri would never do anything...right?
Yuri and Riku head off to their room. They can't stop talking about this fun, new trip. The atmosphere is soft, Bright, and lively...but Yuri can't forget something. The way that Haru seemed so quiet again. Agitated, upset, quietly keeping some sort of pain to himself. Riku nudges him.
"Hey, you okay?"
"Hm..yeah. I'm..I'm fine."
The two keep walking, with Riku looking extra softened and concerned. Their room ends up to be a spacious, cozy cabin with one double bed. Yuri and Riku look at each other knowingly. Yuri grins slightly
"Hey, there's one bed, huh?"
"Oh, don't do that Yuri."
"Do what?"
"Don't tease me!"
Yuri laughs it off and sits on the bed. Facing Riku directly. He tries to speak, but nothing comes out. The two just get trapped there. In their own world. Yuri and Riku stare at each other. Yuri's eyes dart down to his lips before looking back up at his sparkly eyes. Riku chuckles softly.
"Looking at something?"
Yuri stammers. Realising he's been caught red-handed. His face goes red and he waves his hands infront of him.
"No! I mean..maybe! But not in a..weird..way..."
Riku chuckles and adjusts his position. Smiling and blushing like a schoolgirl. He can't stop looking so happy.
"I mean..I wouldn't mind if you are..."
Yuri's eyes narrow, but not in an intimidating way. In a suspicious way.
"You wouldn't?"
"No..I wouldn't."
Riku and Yuri start to fade into their own world again. Their smiles and soft laughter drifted into a comfortable silence. The kind of silence that leaves no room for words, only for fate. They lock eyes, starting to unconsciously lean closer. They keep moving towards each other, their hands naturally finding their way, and their lips just inches apart, when Haru walks in.
"Hey guys, they're-"
Haru starts to speak but is cut off by his own shock and barley contained anger. Yuri and Riku snap back. Blushing furiously.
"Uh..what were you saying?"
Haru sighs. His eyes want to flutter closed but he forces them open
"They're calling us down to the main hall for dinner. But I'm sorry if I was..interrupting something."
Haru says sarcastically and leaves. He feels hot tears forming in his eyes, but wipes them away as he strides down the hallway with fumes in his eyes. He heads back to his seat in the bustling cafeteria and sits down. His chair scrapes against the floor. Yuna, Mika, and Sowoon look up.
"Hey, what happened? Are you...crying?!" Yuna exclaims
"No. I'm just fine."
"Come on," Sowoon says softly. He knows Haru, and nothing is 'just fine.'
"What really happened?"
Just then, Riku and Yuri walk into the cafeteria. Barely noticed amidst all the chatter and bustling people. Mika's eyes widen immediately with understanding.
"Ah...so that happened...You're jealous?" Mika says.
Haru's eyes widen. He sits up straight immediately and leans into Mika's face getting all up in her business.
"How do you know that?!" He exclaims. Still shocked
"Well..it's not rocket science. You get mad every time he's closer than 8 inches to somebody else, and he's like your master. You follow him around, looking at his beautiful golden hair with stars in your eyes. It's obvious. REALLY obvious."
"Oh.." Haru says quietly. Eyeing Riku and Yuri just as they walk over.
"Hey, Haru. Can we talk?"
Yuri says, looking kinda confused, but remorseful, and slightly understanding too. Haru nods, and they head to the rooftop of their hotel/cabin to talk.
"I just don't get it! Why do you hate Riku so much? I mean, sure, he thinks we're best friends already, but you're getting too jealous!" Yuri shouts.
"I've been your best friends for 8 years! Doesn't it make sense?"
"Yes, it does, but I wouldn't expect you to be THIS jealous. You're making Riku cry at night, thinking he isn't enough for you because you don't like him."
"Why should I care?! If he's so upset make him leave!"
"Come on, Haru! You're being so childish."
"I could argue that YOU'RE being childish, the ay you're trying to make him fall for you or something!"
"I'm not!"
"Yes you are! He's apparently so charming, and you want him to be all over you, huh? Don't act like I didn't see you and him almost-kiss in your bedroom!"
"Damn it, Haru! Why do you have to be so jealous?!"
"BECAUSE I LIKE YOU!" Haru finally screams. Panting. The shouts silence, and the flames in their eyes fade into shock
"What?..."
"I said I like you! I have ever since we met! It's so painful to watch you all over the new kid."
Yuri's eyes fill with tears. He grab's Haru's shoulders, and shakes him slightly
"Why didn't you just say it earlier..?"
"I didn't think you'd like me back.." Haru admits quietly, looking away.
Yuri's eyes widen, and he shakes his head slowly
"Don't think that.."
He mutters, and without a thought, kisses Haru. He can feel the sparks fly between them, and their hands naturally make their way to where they should be. Neither of them want to step away. It feels like their fairytale has finally come true.
