(Valarr's POV)
The next day, everyone in the village was scrambling about in the crater. They were completely shocked at the fact that something had fallen from the sky. I was more shocked at the fact that they didn't notice it when it had fallen.
They were gathering the black stones, piling them up in carts and wheeling them to the center of the village. This had gotten the attention of Taka, who came to personally inspect the stones. He had claimed that it looked a bit like Dragonglass, which is something that the people of Dragonstone had been mining for some time.
He took some of the stones back to Dragonstone, in order to inform Lord Aerion about it. He had asked me if I had known about, but I simply said that I was asleep. Something compelled me to keep the egg a secret, which I had hidden in a compartment under the house.
I was sitting in the middle of the floor, looking at the cup of water in my hand, "Hm...." I said, my eyes feeling a bit heavier than usual, "This...."
"What is it?" I heard Mother speak
I jumped up, looking to the side and seeing that she was walking up to me, "M-Mother...."
She frowned, "You've been acting strange all day." She said, sitting next to me, "Is something the matter?"
I shook my head, "N-No, why?"
She peered into my eyes, as if looking for the truth, "I noticed you were not asleep when I woke up." She said, "Since when do you sleep more than I do when you are not working with the fishermen?"
I blinked, "I...." I said, "I was a bit restless, that is all."
"And why is that?" She asked, reaching for my hand, "Did you do something?"
"N-No, mother. Why do you assume the worst?" I asked with a chuckle
"Don't tell me you have done something to the young Lady?" She asked, a gasp coming out of her mouth, "Valarr, do not antagonize that girl! She is a Dragonrider and the daughter of Lord Aerion! She could have you killed if-"
"No, Mother." I said, "I have not seen Visenya in a few days. I promise, nothing is wrong. You worry too much."
"I don't worry enough!" Her grip on my hand getting stronger, "I do not wish to relive those days, Valarr! I don't want to lose-"
I cut her off by patting her cheek and giving her a warm smile, "Mother." I said, my tone was sweet and calm, "You need to rest, you are stressed."
She looked at me with a surprised expression, as if she realized how she was acting.
"I...." She gulped, leaning into my touch, "I see, I am sorry."
I nodded, "Relax." I said, "Shall I make you some tea?"
She nodded, pulling away, "T-That would be nice, son...." She said softly, "I'm....I'm sorry....."
"It's okay." I said as I stood up and walked towards the single cupboard we own, "I spoke to Taka. He is to have the stones handed over to Lord Aerion for inspection. It is quite interesting, black stone that fell from the sky."
"Hm...." I heard her say as I pulled out the small tear bags we had in a wooden box, "I was told as a child that stars occasionally fall from the sky. They vary in size, however."
I nodded, "Yes...." I said, "It is nature, so I hear. But are they not signs from the gods?"
"At times, yes." She said, "So I hear."
"But I am not so sure if the Gods are real."
*************
Later that night, I had snuck out of the house, grabbed the egg, and taking it to a hidden cave at the coast. It was quite far from the village and the castle, away from sight. The area was also safe from the wild dragons, which are a recurring sight in Dragonstone.
I was inside the cave, having placed the large egg on the ground, covering it with some dirt and sticks. I had created a makeshift nest, which would prove rather comfortable for the egg. I didn't know if it was a Dragon Egg and if it was, this was not the way to nurture it. From what I understand, the eggs require heat. And considering that I don't know what this is, I really had no idea what the hells I was doing.
I sighed, looking at the egg. I could barely make out the markings on it, the moonlight barely reaching inside the chamber.
"What am I doing?" I muttered, "Why am I keeping this a secret?"
I had no idea what I was doing. Everything seemed too random. Was this some sort of divine intervention from that Goddess from my dreams? What exactly was this and why am I connected to it?
I really didn't know.
And what's worse, I don't know why i was doing this. If House Targaryen find out about this, they will probably claim the Egg as theirs. But I don't know, it doesn't seem like a dragon egg, like the ones they have.
I let out another sigh, "Just what have I gotten myself into?" I said, placing more sticks around the egg, "I shouldn't be doing something so foolish, I already have my hands full."
I stood up and patted my pants, about to turn around to leave when I noticed the light of a torch's flame right behind me.
I turned immediately to see a familiar face scowling at me, illuminated by the torch in her hands.
"Valarr!" Visenya exclaimed, "Just what in the hells do you think you are doing???"
I nearly stumbled back, "L-Lady Visenya!!" I exclaimed, "W-What are you doing here?!"
This is the worst turn of events I would hope to deal with. Visenya finding this so quickly was not something I expected.
She walked up to me, "You have not visited the castle in days." She said, "I had grown tired of waiting, so I came down to see you. And I followed you over here, hiding away from the village. Just what are you plotting?"
I got in front of the egg, "N-Nothing, My Lady." I said, "I swear, I am plotting nothing!"
She scowled even more, "What are you hiding?" She asked, "Move aside, I see something behind you."
"I...." I started
"I said move." She said, pushing me to the side, "You imbecile-....what is this????"
She was shining the torchlight on the egg, which showed all of the markings. She had a baffled expression on her face, which was not surprising in the slightest; this was not something she had seen in her life.
"I...." I said, clearing my throat, "I do not know what it is..."
"I really don't."
