Chapter 179 - The Militia Won't Die

The battle continued for hours on end.

Humanity fought with everything they had but exhaustion was setting in.

Casualties piled up.

Bodies littered the ground.Blaze shouted:"Water! Fire! Protect the living souls first!"They sprinted off.Ace was locked in combat with a demon."I fought Edwin," Ace said. "You think YOU can scare me?"The demon looked confused.Ace ran past him the demon laughed then froze as his body slowly slid apart in opposite directions.A single swift blade cut him clean in half.Blaze ran by. "Ace, our objective is to protect the living souls.""On it, Cap!" Ace yelled, sprinting into the chaos, killing any demon within reach. Blaze spotted a medic curled up on the ground, a demon lifting him, jaws stretching three times their size, ready to bite his face off."HELP!" the medic screamed.Blaze locked in.He threw one of his blades it flew straight into the demon's open mouth. The demon dropped dead.Blaze grabbed the medic's shoulder."Treat the wounded!"The medic, terrified and shocked, stared at Blaze."Ai!"He ran to a nearby warrior bleeding heavily a chunk of his cheek bitten off.Blaze's anger flared."Soldier… Thank you for your bravery. But go rest."The man tried to stand. "Sir… we can still help.""No," Blaze said. "You've made enough sacrifices. Let the rest of us make those sacrifices for you."The man looked at Blaze his black cape blowing in the wind, his two blood‑covered blades in hand."I won't forget you," the man said.He and the medic hurried toward safety.Blaze stood still for a moment, eyes closed."I am a warrior.

I am the New World Militia."When Blaze opened his eyes, tens of demons were already swinging at him.Blaze moved in slow motion countering the first demon, slicing the next, stabbing another through the throat. He spun, hitting one with the butt of his blade, then slid both swords into a demon before it could swing its bone weapon. He ripped his blades free.More demons came.Blaze welcomed it.Some say he was born for this moment. Water and Fire fought in perfect sync double‑tapping demons with expert swordsmanship. Then a giant demon worm burst from the ground grabbing Water.Fire dodged."WATER!"Water shouted, "Don't worry about me this is light work!"The worm dragged Water away.Another worm erupted from the ground.

Then another.

Soon the battlefield was filled with demon worms attacking humans and demons alike.Fire stood toe‑to‑toe with a massive worm sizing him up."I liked you guys better when you were smaller."The worm lunged Fire dodged, ran along its body, gaining speed. He jumped high into the air.The worm lunged upward, jaws wide, ready to swallow him whole.Fire smirked."Perfect."He came down like judgment slicing the worm's bottom jaw clean off.He grabbed onto its pink flesh, stabbing where he guessed the neck was.

The worm roared, thrashing violently.Fire held on, stabbing again and again. Finally the worm stopped fighting and collapsed.Fire rolled off as it hit the ground. He looked up and the sky opened.A massive stone bleacher descended filled with angels, aliens, and divine beings watching the battle for Earth.Fire smirked."I work better under pressure anyway."Ice looked up."What is that? Are they… watching us?" Azazel hovered in the air, watching the battlefield. He saw the divine audience."Almighty… you want the universe to witness this battle."He chuckled."You must have your money on humanity."Lucifer remained seated on his throne calm, collected, unreadable.

No emotion.

No reaction.

A perfect poker face.He stared at the divine spectators above eyes full of death.
