Chapter 178 - The Steps Of Destiny Is Bloody

Sophie grabbed Johan by the shoulders."Medics take Jonah. Check her wounds.""Yes, General," the medic said. "Captain"Johan cut him off. "I won't leave while my people are out here fighting."Sophie stepped closer, voice firm.

"Johan, you have to treat your injury.""I can fight with one arm. I'm still able ""No." Sophie's eyes blazed. "I'm the general because you believed I could make the right decisions. And this is my decision. Johan… please."Johan looked into Sophie's eyes, saw the fire, the conviction, the responsibility she carried."Alright, General," Johan said softly. "But you better not die on me."Sophie smiled a smile of friendship, of trust.

"I won't."She turned and leapt back into battle, instantly helping the next group of warriors. Johan watched her for a moment proud then nodded to the medic."Fine. Let's go."They walked toward safety, away from the battlefield. Thomas ran up to Luke."I'm heading toward Lucifer."Steve stepped in. "Hold on, Thomas, we need to move as a unit."Thomas shook his head. "I can see him from here. Don't worry about me."And he was gone sprinting toward the hill. Steve sighed. "That boy won't learn the easy way."Luke asked, "Should we follow?"Steve shook his head. "No. I'll follow. Your army needs you here to command."Luke nodded. "Teacher…"Steve ran after Thomas."Luke don't go dying on me, kid!"He waved and disappeared into the chaos. Luke looked around chaos everywhere then something grabbed his leg.He was yanked upside down, slammed onto the ground. His head cracked against the dirt, blood dripping down his face.A snake‑woman hovered over him skin like scales, tail like a serpent, arms like a human, face beautiful and deadly."You must be General Luke," she hissed. "You're more handsome than I imagined."Luke reached into his pants, pulled out a hidden dagger and slashed her tail. She dropped him.Luke rolled to his feet, dagger in hand. The Queen of Seduction smiled, her eyes glowing with hypnotic charm. Luke's guard dropped for a moment. She lunged.Luke rolled aside. She swung her claws Luke ducked, dodged, weaving up and down.He caught her arm stabbed her gut with the dagger. Her tail whipped around tripping Luke and she landed on top of him, pinning him down.Luke strained. "How are you… this heavy?"She smirked. "In this form, my weight increases tenfold."Luke grinned through the pain. "Sounds like you need a diet."Her hair and the snakes went wild with rage. Her eyes burned like hellfire."What did you say about my weight?!" A snake‑strand stabbed Luke's cheek.

Another stabbed his neck."You won't have that fight in you soon," she whispered.Luke gasped. "What do you mean?"She laughed loudly, hysterically."My hair is poisonous, you handsome idiot."Then BANG! A sniper round hit her shoulder.

Another shot landed near her.She hissed and slithered away into the battlefield.Luke exhaled in relief and threw a thumbs‑up.Hundreds of feet away, Malik smirked through his scope."Queens should count as double points."Luke stood then his knees buckled. He collapsed. Fuck… the poison…His arms went numb.

His legs stopped responding. Is this how I die? Poisoned by a snake queen? Didn't see that coming…He almost chuckled. He rolled onto his back staring at the full moon. The battlefield noise faded.

Everything went quiet. The moon looks beautiful tonight…A medic woman ran up."General! What's wrong?!"Luke whispered, "Poison…"She saw the punctures on his cheek and neck.Luke's vision blurred stars forming. A light appeared in front of him."Luke… we have been waiting for you."A glowing arm reached out.Luke lifted his hand slowly reaching for it.The medic slapped him hard."No! You won't die here, General!"She grabbed his face and began sucking the poison out, spitting green liquid onto the ground.Luke blinked, dazed.Who is this woman… and why won't she let me die…?
