Sebastien stood at the entrance of Haywood Academy, his eyes strained on the mountains above, taking in their snow-capped peaks and how they seemed to blend with the horizon and heavy grey clouds.
The weather seemed to match the mood he was in.
Impossibly grey. Dull and free of colour.
He could only watch as the Shuttle meant to escort them out of Virex Territory breezed past the Endless Forest, where he spent most of his mornings running along the winding path that led to a gorgeous clearing overlooking the falls and the Great River below.
It stretched out before him, its grounds vast yet meticulously maintained. Wide stone walkways branched through trimmed hedges, quiet courtyards, and rows of towering evergreens whose branches swayed gently beneath the mountain wind.
Students crossed between buildings in steady streams, some dressed in red-and-black academy uniforms while others carried equipment cases or training gear.
