Lucien crooked an eyebrow at him, his eyes coloured with amusement. "Was it?"
Kenneth nodded. "But it was also the most exhilarating thing I've ever experienced."
A knowing look took over the man's face, like he was well aware of what Kenneth had been through.
"You want to talk about it?"
"No. Not really." That was what he wanted to say, but thought better of it.
Bottling things up was one hundred percent his style—hell, it was what he excelled at. But something told him that keeping whatever he was feeling wouldn't be wise.
No. This time, he needed to let those feelings out, especially if he wanted to get some answers from Lucien.
"We experienced our first 'real' gate today," he scoffed ruefully, just thinking about it. "It wasn't at all what I was expecting."
Lucien nodded, his gaze moving to the sky. "I'm sure it wasn't."
Kenneth pursed his lips, his eyes never leaving him. "This is what you have to put up with on your missions."
