The West Region was still buzzing with talk about Clarissa and all evidence of her innocence.
Daddy told us not to go out or make any conspicuous moves. Even with that evidence circulating, nothing would happen to us.
Clarissa was already dead.
I suspected Tessa Grey or someone from the Grey family was behind the newspaper publication.
Right now, Daddy was still trying to secure Clarissa's inheritance from Larry. The Greys might not be pleased and were doing this to block his path.
"An enforcer from the capital is looking for you." Luna Sarah appeared in Owen's room, her expression sour.
My heart began to pound. Why were enforcers involved? Why were they looking for me?
"Don't say anything unnecessary. You'd better stay silent than say the wrong thing," Luna Sarah warned. "Don't you dare ruin the Blacks' reputation."
With unease creeping through me, I went to meet the enforcer. They had come to discuss Clarissa's execution.
