Diamond woke up feeling strong and rejuvenated as she yawned and stretched.
Yesterday was really hectic, but today she was going to enjoy every bit of her day.
Sitting up, Diamond stared at her room before her gaze gently settled on the pile of clothes in her laundry basket.
"Yes, I should start with doing my laundry."
Out of bed, she lazily slid her feet into her furry slippers and headed to her wardrobe to look for clothes.
Slowly, she pulled out a sundress, placed it on the bed, and went to shower.
After a few minutes, Diamond came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel.
She quickly slid into the sundress, then went to her makeup station to brush her hair and apply lip gloss.
"Perfect." Grabbing her laundry basket, she headed out.
Strolling toward the laundry room, she put the basket down and began filling the washing machine with water, adding detergent before finally putting her clothes inside.
She decided to sit on one of the stools and get it all done at once, rather than coming back later.
Phone in hand, Diamond scrolled through some funny Instagram videos, not noticing when the washing timer had gone off.
"Oh," she exclaimed, finally noticing.
Hastily, she stood up and began to remove the clothes before rinsing and spreading them.
"Phew." After draining and rinsing the machine, she picked up her phone and left.
Since they were supposed to spend the day together, Diamond decided to check up on Tanya.
Reaching Tanya's room, she gently knocked but got no response.
Wondering what Tanya was up to, she gently opened the door, only to find her friend sleeping and snoring.
Diamond burst into the room and pounced on the bed, causing Tanya to jerk up.
"Hey, what the—" Tanya screamed.
"Good morning," Diamond said with an annoying smile.
Tanya sat up, hair messy, staring at nothing. "I hate you."
"I know, right?" Diamond said excitedly, giving Tanya a peck on the cheek and making her smile.
"Come on, you have to shower," Diamond said, dragging Tanya out of bed.
Tanya groaned. "But I was just about to meet my prince charming."
"Don't worry, you'll definitely meet him." Diamond patted Tanya on the head and gestured for her to go shower.
Moving to the wardrobe, Diamond glanced through it. "What shall you wear today?"
"Uh-huh!," she said, pulling out a blue gown. "This will do."
After laying it on the bed, Diamond sat beside it. Bored. She watched videos on her phone until Tanya interrupted.
"I'm back," Tanya sang.
Diamond shook her head in disbelief. Tanya was unbelievable.
"Get dressed already," she said, handing over the clothes.
"I could enjoy this every day," Tanya said as she slipped into them.
"Well, I'll advise you to enjoy it while it lasts."
"Oh, I will," Tanya said, combing her hair.
"Ha ha ha," Diamond laughed ironically, rolling her eyes.
Her hand flew to her tummy as it rumbled. "I'm hungry."
"Yeah, me too. Let's order food," Tanya suggested.
"Great idea."
Tanya ordered food as they both made their way downstairs.
They decided to watch a movie while waiting. Although Tanya grew impatient, pestering about the delay when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Ding dong.
"Finally!" Tanya jumped off the sofa to take their order.
She hastily dropped it on the table and unpacked it. The aroma of fresh pizza wafted through the air, making Diamond's stomach rumble even more.
Tanya let out a sigh of relief and took the first slice. "Mmm, yum," she exclaimed, biting into it.
Diamond chuckled. She knew her friend could go totally bonkers for food.
"Easy," she cautioned.
About to unpack her food, Diamond heard a beep from her phone.
She quickly reached for it. Her eyes widened as she scrolled.
"OMG, OMG," she exclaimed, jumping on the sofa.
Surprised and anxious, Tanya asked, "What's going on? What's the fuss about?"
"I... I..." Diamond stammered, gasping for breath.
She took a deep breath to calm herself.
"I've just been invited to one of the companies I submitted my CV to for a formal interview. Squeee!"
"No way," Tanya said in disbelief.
"Yes way."
"What's the name of the company?"
"It's, um... Olive Heights," Diamond confirmed while scrolling.
"Olive Heights," Tanya murmured, then snapped her fingers. "OMG, that's one of the biggest and most influential companies in the world."
"No way," Diamond said.
"Let me see," Tanya said and snatched the phone. Her jaw dropped. "Yes way. OMG!, babe, this is good news. This calls for celebration."
Diamond just couldn't believe it. She'd been job hunting since college, and now she was being considered by one of the biggest companies.
Maybe she was lucky after all.
"Diamond." Tanya's voice pulled her from her thoughts.
"You're crying," Tanya said, worry in her eyes. "Oh, come here," she said, pulling Diamond into an embrace.
"Don't cry," Tanya said, patting her back. "Moreover, your interview is the day after tomorrow."
"What?" Diamond pulled away.
"It's written here," Tanya said, holding up the phone. "Didn't you read that part?"
Diamond grabbed the phone to confirm. She couldn't help but freak out. She had an interview on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., and she was the least prepared.
"Chillax, it's just an interview. All you have to do is put in your best," Tanya said, gently squeezing her hands.
"It's just an interview," Diamond repeated, taking a deep breath.
"I'm impressed, babe. How did you manage to pull this off?" Tanya asked.
"I don't know," Diamond shrugged. "I just submitted my CV to some companies. I figured that would be faster."
"Wow, that was really smart of you. And now it's time to celebrate. Come on," Tanya beckoned. "We are going out."
Tanya put away their food while Diamond checked the house before they bolted out.
Their cab arrived quickly, and soon they were at their destination.
It was a fancy restaurant — one of the biggest, serving almost any delicacy you could name.
They took a seat in the corner near a glass window that gave them a precise view of the city.
