Chapter 78: the flames of war II
Hugo quickly pulled the runes for his new memory eager to learn about his artifact.

Hugo was not really sure how to feel about this memory....
For one, it was sacred and not divine which was not a bad thing considering that sacred memories were also unheard of in the waking world... But the difference between that and divine was still off-putting.
Sure it was basically another omnitrix but it was simply inferior to the real omnitrix in every way.
For starters, the predators aliens were noble creatures and thus, Hugo could simply scan said creatures and Transform into them anyway and this Nemitrix didn't possses the attributes of the omnitrix like omni-kiks, failsafe and voice command.
So, this device was of no use to him personally However, it could be beneficial to someone else...
Or a certain echo.
An idea appeared like a flash of light in Hugo's head.
Immediately, he summoned [zed].
The blue wolf manifested in a shower of white light and as soon as it did, it rushed to its master, hugging him and licking him in joy simply on account of Hugo being its master.
That warmed Hugo's heart a lot.
"Good girl" Hugo said, rubbing her head.
Pets and all other animals were basically extinct in the war realm and so Hugo had never really imagined having one, but here he was.
Sadly, he could not Truly enjoy his time with the ascended creature just yet.
"Say, zed you have an ability to bond with things right?"
The wolf nodded in excitement, still licking him.
"Great, papa has a gift for you then!"
With that, Hugo summoned the [Nemitrix] which was less of a wristwatch and more of a dial with an entirely different insignia compared to the omnitrix.
'Makes sense, its creator was not azmuth and I'll bet it also wasn't a galvan... Still, someone capable of creating a sacred relic must be immensely talented. '
It made Hugo wonder if he would be capable of creating such wonders using grey matter or brainstorm once he reaches higher ranks.
Then, Hugo placed the Nemitrix on zed's red collar causing the dog to flinch as if remmebring something from a very long time ago.
'i didn't know echoes could be this expressive...'
It really made him wonder how the spell made echoes and memories but that was a thought for another time.
The Nemitrix looked perfect on zed as if it was made specifically for her.
It seemed the [Bond] ability zed possesesd made her a perfect host for the [Nemitrix], causing a strange synergy to be born from their union which Benefited her more then the [lucky charm]
did.
"So you can now transform into things like me" Hugo said in an excited voice "Ah, how about humangosaur's predator, yeah that would work..."
Before Hugo could say something else, he heard a knock on the hospital door.
'It's late at night... No doctors should be coming here...'
Hugo calmly dismissed zed and pretended to be watching the tv.
Then, a man in a doctor's clothes entered, carrying a bunch of medical equipment in his hands. He was wearing a medical mask as well which gave him a very disturbing look...
"Ah, Ben Tennyson, you are awake. I'm doctor raily, I'm responsible for giving you your medicine so please stay put for me. It's been a very long day with all of whats happening in the outside world..."
He brought out a needle from the medical box and slowly approached Hugo.
As he did, Hugo's eyes hardened slightly.
Something was wrong... Terribly wrong, even.
Hugo was not the most skilled of awakened nor did he have the best intuition but his senses were augmented by his charm memory [Conqueror's wrath] and his attributes created a weak synergy making him able to detect small unimportant things such as body language and speech patterns.
However, it didn't take a genius to recognize that an awakened wouldn't need any type of medicine while they were healing...
Not only that but he clearly remembered his brief time as Ben Tennyson.
'There were no male human doctors in this hospital... All of them were either females or noble creature...'
And then there was the smell.
A faint, but unmistakable stench of blood drifting in from the corridors.
The man's steps were shaky and his breath was intense as if he was high on drugs, or if he was barely trying to contain something.
And so, in the next moment, Hugo slammed the Omnitrix.
His body twisted and expanded as orange and black fur emerged all around him and two sharp like claws appeared from his hands. At the same time, his face became like that of a tiger with each of his teeths being capable of ripping metal apart.
immediately after the transformation was over, Hugo grabbed the fake doctor by his collar.
"Let me tell you something, imposter! Rath does not like doctors, and Rath does not like you Forever Knights either!"
The man's eyes widened but it was too late, Rath's sharp claws plunged into his head,m passing through his skull in seconds killing him before he could do anything.

For a single heartbeat after that, silence filled the room and then, Chaos broke loose as dozens of knights raided the hospital room.
Letting out a savage growl, Hugo lunged at the knights.
There was around fifteen of them, some with blasters and others with plasma swords. Of course they were donning the iconic armor of the Forever knights.
A blade of red death came down on rath's face, ready to cut it clean off, however in the last moment, rath grabbed the Knight's hand and brutally cut it off, then he twisted the knights body and took cover behind it as the other knights shot a barrage of energy blasts towards rath.
The knight died on impact and rath threw his body towards knight, momentarily breaking their formation and as he did that, rath launched himself at an incredible speed using his sharp claws to cut through the forever knights.

The voice of the spell mixed with the horrified screams of the forever knights, some of them even tried to flee using their jetpacks but Hugo cut their heads before they could do so...
Slaughtering such a large numbers of humans was not easy even if they were not humans in the first place.
After all the spell did not recognize them as humans but rather as forever knights, barring a mark of their unholy patron, although of much lower grade then the Forever kings.
Still... They looked the part.
'So much blood...'
A blast slammed into rath's torso, nearly taking off his arm. Another shot his legs, setting him on fire.
Just as he was about to be blasted, he activated his awakened ability znd slammed the omnitrix, shifting into a mass of green goo...
The green mass had a strange projector above it, keeping it afloat, without it, the alien would be nothing more then a mass of green liquid making it the biggest weakness anyone could ask for.
However the knights did not live long enough to know that, as goop entered the gaps in theirs armors, using his acid like powers to melt their skin off.
He even went beyond that, and left some of him inside the bodies of the knights burning them from the inside.
In the end, the hallway of the hospital was left with only blood, torn flesh and parts of goop that slowly returned to the main body...
He let out a long sigh which sounded bizzare in goop's voice.
"There, 13 aliens to go..."
This place was currently useless as the plumbers personal and healers were all killed by the knights when they raided the hospital, and so leaving was his best choice.
Slamming the omnitrix once again, Hugo transformed into bigchill and flew upward activating the intangibility of this imprint.
Outside... Was quite the scene.
Protestors were marching in the streets of Bellwood, with huge banners that had the forever knights symbole and others with the plumber symbol covered with a big red X.
There was even signs with Ben's face on them, with inappropriate symboles written over it.
'tuff crowd... But we have something in common!'
Whi would've thought that he would have something in common with people supporting the worshippers of an unholy being?
Certainly not Hugo.
Getting high enough into the sky, Hugo summoned a memory that he has discarded for the entirety of this nightmare.
[Proto-truck].
He specifically summoned it in its [Ship] form which was an orange spaceship of sorts, with the wings being in the front and two small pillar rising from the back in each side.
The front part of the ship was the pilot seat made of reinforced glass, while the omnitrix symbole rested in one of the wings.
'i wonder if I can turn it blue...'
Hugo entered the Proto-truck and detransformed as he got into his pilot seat.
'hey this thing is pretty sweat...'
However that only made him miss azmuth's ship more! That thing could take the form of all ships!
Ignoring that, Hugo looked at the omnitrix and spoke
"Hey Omnitrix, can you like connect to the internet of this world?"
[Processing request...]
[Affirmative, do you wish to establish a connection?]
"Yes"
As he said the words, a green screen appeared from the omnitrix.
"Wow, how handy..." Wanting to search other stuff, Hugo slapped himself and exhaled "focus Hugo... Focus..., ahem ahem, omnitrix show me the recent news on the forever knights and the plumbers"
A loading symbole appeared for a few seconds, then the omnitrix screen displayed a live video with a reporter covering the scene.
"Will Harangue greets the great people of America... And rhe rest of the world I guess. I bring you todays important news! Starting with I told you so! Those alien menaces have finally did it! They have waged war on the forever humans organization and started one of humanity's biggest purges since world war one and two! Not only that but they are also imprisoning the donaters! "
The scene showed a strange mountain like area, with faces inscribed on it...
Hugo wondered why humans would ever inscrib faces on a mountain, and how that was even possible without any magical intervention but he brushed the thought aside, listening deeply to the angry newsman.
"Those inhumane attacks are happening all over the globe, with america being the one receiving the worst damage! And not only that, the plumbers have raided the entirety of South Dakota, taking thousands of people away from their homes! They are apparently using that area as their main battle ground against the noble memebers of the forever humans as the organization head courter is there however we have no access to the region due to the government restrictions! But we citizen of America and the world will not stay silent in the face of this tyranny..."
The reporter continued shouting, cursing the plumbers and noble creatures pushing his propaganda...
In hindsight, such actions will seem cruel to the public... But that did not matter to Hugo.
"So south Dakota it is..."
The final battle of the nightmare was there, and ben Tennyson alongside many other important figures will be there...
The Best solution was to remain here and wait for the nightmare to end however Hugo could not do that...
Because he knew that something terrible would occure if he stood by and did not help in any other way.
That was because Hugo had already deduced the final goal of the forever knights which was to summon their unholy god into this plane and destroy everything.
Hugo had pieced that together from ragna's memories and the fate that befell the real beast realm which was hinted to by ben during their meeting.
That was how ben the beast realm fell in the original timeline and also how ben Tennyson got stuck in alien x.
If the unholy creatures descended on the earth of this nightmare... Then Hugo would simply die. Ending the nightmare.
Only Ben knew how to stop the end, but that didn't mean he wouldn't fail, even if his powers surpassed that of Hugo's.
With a final sigh, Hugo put on his seatbelt and pressed the activation button of the Proto-truck, flying the ship at an incredible speed...
"Wait, where the hell is south Dakota anyway?"

[South Dakota, mount rushmore]
The once beautiful landscape was turned into hell, with thousands of people, creatures and even abominations fighting on the land.
The battle has been going on for hours, with the plumbers having the upper hand in this battle due to their numbers and the power of their sovereign.
However that did not mean the forever knights did not have their ways of fighting back.
They had runic arrays created by their most powerful sorcerer and most importantly... They had the gifts doctor Joseph left behind.
The abominations he created using his unholy powers, just like the corrupted Titan that had been unleashed on Maxwell Tennyson months ago in their last confrontation, hundreds of other creatures existed as well. Each of high class, causing the forces of humanity to be stretched thin. There was even some great abominations which Maxwell Tennyson was dealing with.
Not to mention that the forever knights had also developed their own set of asuras, making their members formidable in terms of defense and offense....
Suddenly, in an empty hill bordering mount rushmore, a small crimson portal appeared and from it, three figures emerged.
The first was a bulky, armored beetle/turtle-like humanoid alien with light green skin. He has a red armored shell on his back and tail, with a black stripe going down the middle. He has yellow plating on his arms, lower leg, and stomach, with a red core in the center of his belly. He has yellow spheres on his ears and tail. He wears a black covering over his head and his midsection.
A red Omnitrix symbol made itself visible on his forehead, clearly indicating the identity of the creature.
The second figure was a mighty green dragon, who seemed much sleeker then the dragons displayed in myths and legends however his oppressive presence shook the world making his authority known to everyone.
The last figure was less impressive then the previous two. It was a man around his thirties wearing beautiful plate armor from medieval times, he had had blond hair and a shortened blond beard... He was sir George, the founder of the forever knights wielding the sacred sword Ascalon.
He was a supreme stripped of his domain... Or to be precise, one that had his domain taken over by an insidious plague. One that he had no way of fighting.
But now, he had returned to take back what was rightfully his.
Looking at the bloody scene beneath him, George sighed and looked at Ben in amusement, wanting to lighten his mood slightly before jumping into battle.
"So what do you call this form?"
Ben still transformed grinned "Portaler!"
The two supreme beings, one a noble dragon and the other an ancient supreme, stared at at the proud Ben with a dumbfounded expression.
Eventually, the dragon spoke in a confused tone.
"You named the transformation that can make portals... Portaler?"
Ben nodded "yes, is there anything wrong with that?"
George sighed "We are doomed..."
And with that, he raised Ascalon and a brilliant white light emitted from the sacred blade, revealing their presence to everyone in the battlefield.
