Chapter 279: Hmm? Have You Never Thought About It?
Thanks to Kameda's meticulous interior design and renovations, the Sky Fortress looked incredibly lavish and majestic. Every glance around the halls was visually pleasing and deeply comforting.
Supporting the still-trembling Shion, Hinata closed their bedroom door and stepped out into the main corridor. In the dead of night, the hallway was perfectly silent.
Embedded into the ceiling were crushed, luminescent crystals that Kameda had sourced from somewhere unknown. They glowed naturally in the dark, twinkling like real stars and casting a soft, ethereal starlight over the corridor. The entire hallway looked like a dazzling, dreamlike galaxy.
"It's so beautiful…" Shion murmured, tilting her head back to gaze at the artificial night sky. Reflected in her pure, clear eyes, it looked as though the stars were shining within them.
"We owe it all to Uncle Kameda," Hinata agreed with a nod. "Not only is his aesthetic sense impeccable, but he's also a master chef. When it comes to taking care of daily life, it feels like there's nothing Uncle Kameda can't do."
"Uncle Kameda, huh…" Shion pictured the short, plump, round-faced man in her mind. When he smiled, his eyes practically disappeared into his cheeks, giving him an incredibly comical and endearing look. Yet, he was always fiercely respectful toward Lord Alex, as well as to all of them. It was a genuine, heartfelt reverence, completely devoid of falsehood.
Back when she was the Shrine Maiden of the Land of Demons, despite her exalted status, she knew the respect the ministers and palace maids showed her was entirely fabricated out of duty. She often felt as though she had been living in a fake, hollow world. But here in the Sky Fortress, everything—from the gardens and the people to the food—felt grounded and profoundly real. This was the true, free life she had always wanted.
"Are you feeling less nervous now?" Hinata asked, noticing that Shion had finally stopped shaking.
"Mhm." Shion let out a long breath. "There's nothing to be nervous about, really. I love this life, and I love Lord Alex and Lady Konan."
"Me too," Hinata smiled softly, holding Shion's hand as they walked toward Konan's room. The gentle starlight cast a hazy, enchanting halo over their flowing hair.
Tap— Tap— Tap— Footsteps echoed from ahead.
"They're here too," Hinata observed softly, watching Samui, Honoka, and Ryuzetsu emerge from a room on the other side of the corridor.
Even Kaguya Otsutsuki was among them. Her expression was as detached as ever. Under the starlight, her silver-white hair shimmered faintly, making her pale skin look almost luminescent. She radiated the aloof, unapproachable aura of a true Goddess of the Moon. However, her eyes kept darting nervously toward Konan's door, betraying a deep, hidden panic that sharply contrasted with her calm exterior.
"Come in."
Alex's calm, level voice suddenly rang out through the corridor, speaking directly into each of their ears.
Everyone's hearts leaped in their chests. They exchanged bashful, nervous glances, painfully aware of what entering that specific room at this hour implied.
Inside the master bedroom, the heavy flush on Konan's face had faded, and her breathing had leveled out. Alex was lying comfortably with his head resting on her lap. The sensation against the back of his head was phenomenally soft, like resting on a literal cloud. He caught the unique, fresh scent of Konan—an intoxicating fragrance that soothed his body and soul.
He shifted his head slightly outward so her magnificent assets wouldn't completely block his view of her face. Looking up at her gentle features, he said somewhat helplessly, "Do you think Hinata and the others got the wrong idea…?"
"I just wanted to alter their bloodlines and enhance their power."
He had seen their reactions clearly. It was glaringly obvious that none of them were thinking about his actual intentions; their minds were entirely in the gutter.
Konan looked down at him and laughed, shaking her head. "It's because you called them to our bedroom in the middle of the night. It's inevitable they'd jump to that conclusion."
She suddenly leaned down, her face inches from his, and spoke with an ambiguous, sultry tone. "Are you telling me you haven't thought about it?"
"Shion and Hinata, who look like twins; the busty Samui; the pure Honoka, and the loli-like Ryuzetsu… And… the noble Goddess of the Moon, Kaguya Otsutsuki…"
Her voice dropped to a seductive purr. "Do you really not want to experience them all together?"
"Uh…"
Alex's expression froze, and his throat suddenly felt very dry. Konan's flawless face was right in front of him. Her pale amber eyes seemed to possess an infinite, magnetic charm that deeply captivated him.
As for whether he wanted what she suggested… well, denying it would just be lying to himself.
"Ahem…" Alex coughed dryly, looking slightly embarrassed. "Business first. Important matters take priority."
Tonight, he planned to use the power of the Bloodline Encompassing to completely alter their physical constitutions. In current terms, the Hyuga bloodline, Uzumaki bloodline, and all the rest were fundamentally flawed, fragmented genetics. Only by repairing those fragments and granting them a true Otsutsuki constitution could they be considered "complete."
He and Konan were going to keep advancing and growing exponentially stronger. He couldn't leave Hinata, Shion, and the others in the dust; they needed to at least stay somewhat relevant in power.
Konan's eyes flashed mischievously, and she shot him a wildly flirtatious look. "I think you're just worried that their bodies are too weak right now, and if you aren't careful, you might accidentally break them in half."
Alex nearly choked on his own saliva at her shockingly blunt, lewd remark. He stared wordlessly at the newly-playful Konan.
How could something like that happen… With the banter concluded, Alex glanced toward the door, sat up from her lap, and waved his hand.
