The Royal Plateau of Dressrosa, once a symbol of the Donquixote Family's absolute authority, was now a jagged landscape of fractured stone and rising dust. At the center of the crater stood Kenpachi Zaraki, his presence alone warping the air. The atmospheric pressure from his Reiatsu was so dense that the remaining members of the Donquixote Family—Senior Pink, Lao G, and Dellinger—found it difficult to even draw breath.
"Fufufufu... you talk a big game, giant," Doflamingo hissed. He was hovering a few inches off the ground, his body supported by invisible "Sky Paths" made of thread. "But in this world, raw strength is nothing without the strings to pull it. Overheat!"
Doflamingo whipped his hand forward. From his palm, a thick rope of concentrated, high-tension strings ignited from the friction, turning into a whip of white-hot fire. It cut through the air with a screeching sound, capable of slicing a building in half.
Kenpachi didn't dodge. He didn't even raise his sword. He stood there with a bored expression as the flaming whip lashed across his shoulder.
BOOM!
The explosion of heat and force obscured Kenpachi for a second. Doflamingo's grin widened—until the smoke cleared.
Kenpachi was still standing. The white captain's haori on his shoulder was slightly scorched, but his skin was unmarred. Not even a drop of blood.
"Is that it?" Kenpachi asked, his voice dripping with disappointment. "I thought you were a 'King.' You're just a spider playing with silk."
"What?!" Doflamingo's eyes widened behind his shades. His Armament Haki-infused Overheat had failed to even break the skin?
"My turn," Kenpachi said.
He moved. For a man of his size, his speed was unnatural. It wasn't the refined Soru of the Marines or the graceful Shunpo of Byakuya. It was a violent, explosive lunge that shattered the ground beneath him.
Kenpachi appeared in front of Doflamingo and swung his notched blade, Nozarashi, in a vertical arc.
Doflamingo barely reacted in time. "Spider's Web!"
A dense shield of Haki-coated strings wove itself in front of him. This was the defense that had blocked Law's Room-slashes and Luffy's Gear 3rd attacks. But against Kenpachi, it felt like a spiderweb trying to stop a falling mountain.
SHATTER!
The strings snapped like brittle glass. Doflamingo was sent hurtling backward, crashing through the Royal Palace walls and skipping across the stone tiles like a stone on water. He coughed up blood, his lungs burning.
"Doffy!" Trebol screamed, launching a glob of sticky mucus. "Betrayal Launcher!"
Kenpachi didn't even look at him. He simply flared his spiritual pressure. The golden, skull-shaped aura erupted from his body with a roar. The sheer force of the Reiatsu vaporized the mucus in mid-air and sent Trebol flying into a pillar, knocking him unconscious instantly.
"Don't interrupt," Kenpachi growled, his single eye fixed on Doflamingo, who was slowly standing up, his face twisted in a mask of pure, demonic rage.
"You... you monster..." Doflamingo wiped the blood from his mouth. "I am a Celestial Dragon! I hold the secrets of the world in my hands! I will not be humiliated by a common thug in a tattered coat!"
Doflamingo's Haki exploded. The ground around him began to turn into white, flowing threads. He was using his Awakening.
"God Thread! Sixteen Holy Bullets!"
The earth itself rose up, transforming into sixteen massive, high-density spears of thread, all coated in the deepest black of Advanced Armament Haki. They hovered in the air, aimed directly at Kenpachi's heart.
"Now... DIE!"
The spears launched. They moved at speeds faster than the eye could track, whistling with the sound of a thousand screaming souls.
Kenpachi's grin returned. This was more like it. He felt the sting of a challenge. He reached up and grasped the black eyepatch over his right eye.
"You know," Kenpachi said, his voice dropping to a low, terrifying rumble. "This thing was made by the Research and Development Division to eat my spiritual energy. Because if I don't hold back, the fight ends too quickly."
He ripped the eyepatch off.
WHOOOOOOOOM—!
A pillar of golden light erupted from Kenpachi, piercing the clouds of Dressrosa and reaching into the high atmosphere. The entire island began to shake. In the city below, even the strongest warriors of the Corrida Colosseum fell to their knees, paralyzed by the sheer weight of his presence.
The sixteen "Holy Bullets" hit the light—and disintegrated. They didn't even reach his body. The spiritual pressure was so high that it acted as a physical barrier, erasing the Haki and the threads before they could make contact.
"What... what is this power?" Doflamingo stammered, his arrogance finally replaced by a primal, gut-wrenching fear.
Kenpachi stepped out of the light. His spiritual pressure had taken the form of a literal giant skull behind him, its jaws open in a silent scream.
"Let's see if your 'God' can survive this," Kenpachi said.
He held his sword with two hands.
"Kendo... Two-Handed Strike."
Kenpachi brought the blade down. He didn't use a special move. He didn't call out a name. He simply swung.
The shockwave was so massive it split the Royal Plateau in half. The air pressure alone created a vacuum that sucked the oxygen out of Doflamingo's lungs. The "Joker" tried to fly, tried to weave a defense of a billion threads, but it was all for naught.
The strike hit.
Doflamingo was driven through the plateau, through the underground trade port, and deep into the bedrock of the island itself. A massive fissure opened up across the center of Dressrosa, narrowly avoiding the civilian sectors but obliterating every single Donquixote Family facility in its path.
The South Coast – Near the Green Bit Bridge
Admiral Fujitora (Issho) stood on the shore, his wooden cane held tight. He was "blind," but his Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku) was showing him a vision of hell.
"Good grief..." Fujitora muttered, sweat rolling down his forehead. "I came here to witness a pirate scuffle, but this... this is like the descent of a God of War. That man's soul is a bottomless pit of violence."
Suddenly, petals of pink light began to swirl around the Admiral.
"Admiral of the Marines," a calm, melodic voice spoke. Byakuya Kuchiki appeared ten paces away, his hands hidden in his sleeves. "My Lord has no quarrel with you today. But if you interfere with the 11th Division Captain's 'playtime,' I will be forced to draw my blade."
Fujitora turned toward the voice. "The Holy Spirit Empire. You men have caused quite a stir. The World Government is calling for your heads. Do you really think you can take this kingdom and walk away?"
"We are not taking it," Byakuya replied coldly. "We are reclaiming it for the Soul King. Doflamingo was a cancer on the world's cycle. We are simply the surgeons."
Fujitora sighed and began to draw his blade from his cane. "Surgeons don't usually leave half the island in a crater, Sir. As a Marine, I cannot stand by while a 'King' is executed without trial."
"Then you shall witness the elegance of the 6th Division," Byakuya said. He dropped his hilt. The sword sank into the ground as if it were water.
"Bankai. Senbonzakura Kageyoshi."
Two rows of giant swords rose from the earth behind Byakuya, then scattered into billions of tiny blades. The sky over the south coast turned a shimmering, deadly pink.
Fujitora looked "up" at the spiritual blizzard. "Gravity vs. Petals... this is going to be a long afternoon."
Back at the Crater
Doflamingo lay at the bottom of a hundred-foot-deep hole. His clothes were rags, his sunglasses were shattered, and his chest was caved in. He was barely clinging to life, his internal organs being held together by his own threads in a desperate, subconscious medical feat.
Kenpachi stood at the edge of the pit, looking down. He put his eyepatch back on, the golden aura fading back into his body.
"Tch. You're still alive?" Kenpachi spat. "You're tough, I'll give you that. But you're not fun anymore."
He turned to the shadows. "Kira! Clean this mess up. I'm going to find a drink."
Izuru Kira stepped out from behind a ruined pillar, his head bowed. "Yes, Captain."
Kira walked to the edge of the pit and looked down at the broken Warlord. He raised Wabisuke.
"Donquixote Doflamingo," Kira said softly. "You spent your life looking down on others from your strings. Now, you shall feel the weight of every soul you manipulated."
Clink. Clink. Clink.
Kira struck the broken body three times.
"Now... you weigh eight times what you did a moment ago," Kira said. "Your threads can no longer hold your heart together. It's over."
As Doflamingo's eyes glazed over, the System's voice boomed in Auguro's mind.
"Ding! Major Quest Completed: The Fall of the Joker!"
"Rewards: 1,000,000 Achievement Points!"
"Bonus: You have obtained the 'Soul of the String-String Fruit'!"
"Empire Status: Dressrosa has been liberated. World Government Influence decreased by 20%!"
Auguro, sitting in his throne room miles away, felt his power surge once more. He looked at the String-String Fruit soul in his inventory.
"System," Auguro commanded. "I don't need a sword for this. Use the Soul Forge to convert the String-String Fruit soul into a Kido-Type Artifact. I want to give it to Nico Robin."
"Processing... Creating 'The Threads of Fate: Hachigyō'..."
Auguro leaned back, a cold smile on his face. He had the North Blue, the East Blue, Fish-Man Island, and now the hub of the New World. The Marines were busy with Byakuya, and the Yonko were waking up.
"Let them come," Auguro whispered. "The more they send, the faster my Seireitei grows."
