"Who are.. you?" asked Linn.
Everyone gasped in unison.
The question froze the room.
Cresty, Anthierin, Ria, and even the cleric all instinctively wanted to say something, to explain what had happened, to tell Linn who was standing before her.
But they stopped themselves.
It wasn't their right.
Whatever had happened between these sisters, whatever memories had been lost or buried, it was Flinn's right to answer her.
Flinn made a harsh swallow as she forced herself to regain her composure. Her chest heaved and fell slowly, trying to keep the trembling in her body under control. She had imagined this moment countless times. She had imagined Linn smiling, crying, calling her name immediately after seeing her.
She had never imagined being asked who she was.
Her feet touched the floor.
The bandages around her body pulled slightly as she straightened herself, but she ignored the pain. Her eyes never left Linn.
She took one step.
Then another.
And another.
