Chapter 366 - Chapter 358: None of Us Can Sleep

Toru subtly withdrew his hand from Shizuka's chest.

Shizuka did not notice the unusual sensation on her body just now. Her expression was anxious, and she grabbed Toru's arms tightly, calling out urgently,

"Toru-kun, you're not hurt, are you?"

Momiji and Hayasaka, who had been buying drinks at a small shop on the roadside, had also been startled by the shooting on the street just now.

Now that they had recovered, they quickly pushed through the crowd and rushed to Toru's side, asking in a panic.

Toru got up from the ground, casually grabbed Shizuka's arm, and pulled her up from the ground as well.

He comforted them, saying, "Don't worry, I'm fine. Just pretend I tripped."

"Mom!"

Heiji and Conan rushed to Toru and Shizuka's side, fumbling nervously. "Mom, are you hurt?"

After asking, he complained again, "You were having such a good time in Asahikawa, so why did you come to Hakodate? Hakodate isn't safe at all right now."

Shizuka glared at him. "Do I need to report to you where I want to go?"

Seeing that his mother seemed genuinely angry, Heiji was scared stiff and quickly waved his hands. "No, no, you can go wherever you want. How would I dare control you?"

"Mom, were you... were you really not injured just now?"

Shizuka took a few deep breaths and said coldly to Heiji, "You shouldn't be asking whether I'm injured. You should be asking Toru-kun."

"If Toru-kun hadn't protected me just now, your old mother really would have been crushed to death by your motorcycle."

Heiji turned his head sheepishly. He did not dare provoke his angry mother at this moment, and immediately showed a fawning smile as he held Toru's hand.

"Fujiwara-san, thank you so much just now. If it weren't for you, if something had happened to my mom, I would have been completely finished."

"Oh, right, you also saved my life in Kyoto last time. I still haven't properly thanked you. Fujiwara-san, when you come to Osaka, you have to come find me. I'll treat you properly."

After speaking, without waiting for Toru to reply, Heiji urgently said again, "Kudo... Conan, that guy Kadokura has appeared. Let's hurry and chase him. Don't let him get away."

Conan stood obediently to the side without saying a word. Hearing Heiji's words, he nodded vigorously. "Okay!"

"Heiji!"

Shizuka roared, but Heiji gave her a fawning bow, lifted the motorcycle, and quickly fled the scene with Conan, speeding off in pursuit of the cars that had just left.

"That brat, he's even leading the child astray."

Shizuka had a headache, but he was her son after all, so she could not say too much.

Momiji's expression turned cold, and she said dissatisfiedly, "What is this? Toru-kun saved your mother, and you didn't show any gratitude at all, not even a sincere thank you."

Hayasaka, who was standing beside her, nodded vigorously, strongly disliking Heiji's attitude of single-mindedly chasing criminals without even caring about his own family.

Shizuka felt a bit awkward.

However, Heiji's actions made her somewhat angry as well, and she agreed with Momiji's words, nodding firmly. "When I get back, I'll definitely give him a good lecture."

After speaking, she asked with concern again, "Toru-kun, are you really alright? Should we still go to the hospital to get you checked?"

Toru shook his head. "I'm fine. At most, I just scraped some skin. It's nothing serious."

However, even though he said this, the three women present were unwilling to leave it at that and forcibly dragged him to the hospital in Hakodate.

Toru had no choice but to listen to them and go to the hospital for a checkup.

After they left, Shizuka suddenly realized, as if belatedly, that when Toru saved her just now, his hand had pressed against her soft spot.

Taking advantage of no one looking, she subconsciously stroked her ample chest with her hand. Her face inexplicably blushed, and her heart felt somewhat flustered.

At the hospital, the doctor examined him, and just as Toru had said, he was completely unharmed, with only a little scraped skin. After applying some medicine, he left the hospital.

Because of this incident, Toru and the others lost their interest in touring Hakodate, and all returned to the inn.

The inn was also a private Japanese-style mansion similar to a club, with vast grounds and beautiful scenery, which Momiji had arranged.

On the way back to the inn, Toru sent a message to Curacao.

After finding the weapons Kadokura had hidden, he told Curacao to kill the arms dealer directly.

Since he dared to make him get a scrape, Toru could only take his life.

...

At night, heavy snow fell again in Hakodate.

In the middle of the night, Toru, who was sleeping in the same futon as Momiji, heard a sound from the corridor outside.

After thinking for a moment, he gently pushed away Momiji, who was in his arms, put on his coat, and went out.

The Japanese inn was built of wood. Toru walked through the entrance hall, slid open the door, and a graceful figure came into his sight.

Shizuka had her back to Toru. She was wearing a kimono, standing in the snowy garden and looking up at the sky.

At this time, the snow had gradually lessened, the moon was bright, and the stars were sparse. A beautiful full moon shone in the sky, casting down cold moonlight.

Toru walked over lightly, picked up a coat, and draped it over Shizuka's shoulders.

Shizuka's body stiffened, and her fingers subconsciously gripped her shoulder. She turned around in surprise and saw Toru standing beside her.

"Did I disturb your rest, Toru-kun?"

Shizuka said softly, then complained, "The soundproofing in the rooms here is really poor."

Toru smiled meaningfully. "Yes, the soundproofing in the rooms here is a bit poor, just like the inn room in Asahikawa yesterday."

Shizuka's heart trembled, and she turned her head away guiltily, no longer daring to look at Toru.

Last night, she had listened to Toru and Momiji's embarrassing voices and taken care of her frustration herself.

Could it be that Toru knew about this?

It shouldn't be. How could he know?

"Shizuka-san can't sleep?"

Toru asked softly.

Before, he had always called her Mrs. Hattori. Now, suddenly calling her by name made Shizuka's heart even more chaotic.

She nodded slightly. "Yes, I can't sleep well. I'm not used to beds outside."

This was a lie.

Shizuka could not sleep, but it was not because of the bed. It was the loneliness in her heart and the anxiety brought by her overthinking that kept her awake.

Toru said, "I can't sleep either. How about we chat together?"
