Chapter 365 - Chapter 357: It’s Really Big!

"Kudo, did you get the item?"

"Got it, it's in my hand! Hattori, let's go!"

Conan, wearing a helmet, jumped onto the back of Heiji's motorcycle in a flash and urged him anxiously.

He held a wooden box tightly in his hand. The box was decayed and looked quite old, with a pentagram drawn on it.

Because of Kaitou Kid, Conan and Kogoro had come to Hakodate, Hokkaido.

In Hakodate, he met Heiji, who was also there for a kendo competition. As expected, he saw Kid and learned the reason why he had been invited there.

As detectives, Conan and Heiji had no interest in treasure, but they were extremely interested in solving other people's puzzles.

Especially since a murder case had occurred during this treasure hunt, which made them even more excited. They had to not only solve the case but also find the treasure.

For this, Heiji even skipped the kendo competition and had been investigating with Conan for the past few days.

During this time, Brian D. Kadokura, an American arms dealer, had also carried out two terrorist attacks in Hokkaido.

Catching Kadokura also became a goal for Heiji and Conan.

By deciphering the information on the six short swords left by the founder of the Onoe Group, Conan and Heiji quickly found an important clue, the five-pointed star sword that was once given to Hijikata Toshizo.

They went to Hakodate Higashi Honganji Temple with Kaitou Kid and found the wooden box where the sword was hidden.

But who would have thought that Kadokura had informants within the Hokkaido Police, who immediately intercepted them outside Higashi Honganji Temple?

Thus, the scene of several cars chasing Heiji and Conan occurred.

"Is Japan's control this bad now? How does everyone have guns?!"

From the cars behind them, Kadokura's subordinates were firing pistols and submachine guns at the two of them desperately.

9mm bullets flew out, leaving bullet holes everywhere.

Tourists and local residents enjoying themselves in Hakodate were terrified by this sight and fled in panic, screaming loudly, but some residents were still injured.

Only some experienced tourists immediately lay flat on the ground, avoiding the gunfire. These people clearly came from America and knew how to react to shootings.

Heiji drove the motorcycle erratically, swerving in an S-shape, dodging the many cars chasing behind them, and cursed loudly,

"Are the police officers in Hokkaido useless? No one has come to support us even now!"

Conan held the wooden box with one hand and tightly hugged Heiji's waist with the other. He lowered his head to shield himself from the cold wind as the motorcycle sped along, also shouting,

"The police officers in Tokyo are the same! They were also very slow during the many terrorist attacks in Tokyo before!"

As detectives, Heiji and Conan were both very rebellious and always had a sense of disdain toward police officers.

Heiji laughed loudly. "Osaka is still the best. You wouldn't encounter this kind of thing in Osaka."

There was no helping it, since his father was the Superintendent General of the Osaka Prefectural Police. Even though Heiji did not want to be a police officer, he would still speak highly of his old man.

"Faster, you useless lot! Catch up to them quickly!"

In the car giving chase, Brian D. Kadokura cursed angrily.

If it were not for the so-called treasure, he would not be carrying out this chase on the streets of Hakodate, nor would he be conducting terrorist activities in Japan.

He was a businessman, even if he was an arms dealer, who sought to make money peacefully.

With this commotion, his business in Japan would definitely be ruined, and he would have to escape Japan afterward.

For this, he had also offended his upstream supplier, a major American arms dealer.

It could be said that he was taking a gamble this time, betting that the treasure left by the founder of the Onoe Zaibatsu would bring him astonishing wealth.

Whether the treasure was wealth rivaling a nation or some kind of weapon, he could accept it.

Even if the hidden treasure was poison gas, he, as an arms dealer, could sell it to the Middle East or Africa and make a huge profit.

However, this kind of act, chasing and killing people on the street, was inherently very dangerous. He would not do such a thing unless absolutely necessary.

Heiji drove the motorcycle, narrowly escaping danger each time and dodging the bullets from behind.

Both Heiji and Conan were sweating profusely from fright.

Bullets did not have eyes. If they were accidentally hit by one, it would truly be fatal.

It was during this escape that Heiji suddenly heard someone calling him.

"Heiji!"

That voice?

Heiji subconsciously looked toward the side of the street and saw his mother covering her mouth with both hands, looking at him with surprise and worry.

"Mom?! She was in Asahikawa. How did she get to Hakodate so quickly? Hakodate is dangerous now. You shouldn't have come!"

Seeing his mother, Heiji became anxious.

And his distraction caused a problem with the motorcycle. He failed to dodge the bullets from behind, and one bullet hit the motorcycle's tire directly.

Immediately, the motorcycle lost balance, sparks flying. Heiji and Conan cried out, wanting to control the motorcycle again, but it was too late.

"Kudo, hold on tight!"

Heiji shouted, and Conan immediately made a decision, abandoning the wooden box in his hands and wrapping both arms around Heiji's waist.

"Heiji?!"

Shizuka saw Heiji fall from the motorcycle while holding a child, rolling several times on the ground. Her heart skipped a beat, and she cried out.

However, compared to Heiji falling off the motorcycle, the out-of-control motorcycle was more dangerous.

The motorcycle was grinding against the ground and just happened to be tumbling rapidly toward Shizuka.

"Mom, get out of the way!"

Seeing this scene, Heiji's eyes widened in rage, and he shouted hoarsely.

He had fallen from the vehicle. At most, he would get some scrapes, or at worst, a fracture.

But if his mother was hit by a motorcycle weighing over a hundred pounds, it could very likely be fatal!

Heiji could do nothing at this moment but watch helplessly as the motorcycle rushed toward his mother. Shizuka was even more flustered. Facing the rapidly approaching motorcycle, how could she react in time?

In the blink of an eye, a figure suddenly wrapped his arms around Shizuka and lunged with her to the side.

At the critical moment, Toru hugged Shizuka, dodged the motorcycle, and pressed her beneath him.

Inside the car, Kadokura stared intently at the wooden box Conan had thrown to the ground. The decayed wooden box shattered, and it was completely empty inside.

Seeing that there was nothing in the wooden box, Kadokura hesitated. Hearing the distant police sirens, he did not attack Heiji and Conan again, ordering the driver to escape quickly.

Toru's hand rested on the gun at his waist. If this arms dealer dared to make another move, he would have to kill him right here.

He just did not expect Kadokura to be quite smart, choosing to escape immediately.

Watching the car drive away, Toru could not be bothered to care. Anyway, they were not coming for him. The people they wanted to kill were Heiji and Conan, which had nothing to do with him.

He lowered his head, looked at the still-shaken Shizuka, and asked with concern, "Hattori-san, are you alright?"

It was only then that Toru noticed he had inadvertently pressed down on something soft.

Hmm, it had been confirmed in the hot spring yesterday. It was really big...
