Eve immediately packed up her things, ready to leave work, and she happened to run into Lucas as she was heading downstairs.
"Sherman, I heard you accompanied President Sutton for an engagement yesterday. Did you drink a lot?"
Eve waved her hand, "I can handle my liquor."
"Oh dear, President Sutton scolded me today, telling me to handle such matters myself in the future, but I was just working overtime at Sterling yesterday. Thanks for your hard work, Sherman. Let me treat you to lunch?"
"No need, it's my duty. I have an appointment at noon today."
Eve pointed not far away as she spoke, "My husband is here to pick me up."
Lucas's expression changed at the mention of the word "husband."
He had seen with his own eyes her husband hugging another woman that day. Now, the words were stuck in his throat, and seeing Eve's smile made him feel as uncomfortable as if he had swallowed a fly.
"Sherman, actually, your husb..."
