Lin Qiye stood in the bathroom as the mist on the mirror gradually cleared. He instinctively reached out to wipe the surface, but froze the moment he saw his reflection.
Was that really him?
The person in the mirror had skin as lustrous as jade, delicate to a degree that seemed non-human. His already handsome features appeared as if they had been meticulously sculpted by the hands of a god.
The most heart-stopping change was in his eyes.
Deep within those calm pupils lay an indescribable charm; it felt as if they contained countless stars while simultaneously possessing the power to hook one's very soul.
'Is this the power of Slaanesh...' Lin Qiye frowned, splashing cold water on his face to calm his inner shock.
Water droplets slid down his cheeks, each one looking like it was flowing over a perfect work of art. This transformation had surpassed the limits of humanity, carrying a certain divine aesthetic.
Lin Qiye took a deep breath, put on the clothes Hong Ying had prepared for him, and walked out of the bathroom.
The atmosphere in the dining room was bizarre.
Hong Ying held a cup of coffee, pretending to be focused on the newspaper, but her eyes hadn't moved an inch. Si Xiaonan, on the other hand, had completely given up on pretense; she sat with her face in her hands, staring straight at Lin Qiye.
"Qiye, did you... sleep well last night?" Hong Ying tried to ask in a casual tone, but accidentally spilled coffee onto her newspaper.
Just as Lin Qiye was about to answer, Si Xiaonan interrupted: "Qiye! Can you stop keeping your head down? I want to see your face again!"
"Xiaonan!" Hong Ying scolded in a low voice, yet her face involuntarily flushed.
Lin Qiye silently picked up a Daming fried dough stick and began eating with his head down.
This reaction was proof enough that the influence of Transcendent Charm far exceeded his expectations. This wasn't just a simple change in appearance; it was a bizarre ability that directly influenced the perception of others. It was hard to imagine what this ability—which ignored gender and perhaps even species—could truly do.
... ...
Time flew by, and it had been two weeks since Lin Qiye joined the Night Watchmen.
Inside the training hall, Leng Xuan looked at Lin Qiye's shooting results, disbelief flashing in his eyes.
"Another perfect score? You really haven't studied firearms before?"
Lin Qiye lowered his handgun and shrugged. He didn't tell Leng Xuan that the MC Interface provided him with an assisted aiming system, allowing every bullet to strike the bullseye with precision.
This wasn't his only advantage. Since obtaining Slaanesh's power, his physical attributes had risen to an unimaginable level. His speed, strength, and reaction time were all far beyond ordinary people.
"Let's do another round of close-quarters combat training." Zhao Kongcheng picked up a training sword and stood in the center of the hall.
Lin Qiye nodded, grabbed a training knife, and stood opposite Zhao Kongcheng.
Blade met blade, the sound of clashing metal echoing through the hall. Zhao Kongcheng's offensive was like a violent storm, his strikes infused with the techniques of years of combat experience.
Lin Qiye, however, handled it with ease. His movements seemed casual, yet were pinpoint accurate.
Suddenly, he lunged upward, raising the training knife high in mid-air before swinging it down with the full weight of his body.
Bang!
Zhao Kongcheng blocked in a hurry but was shaken back two steps by the unstoppable force.
"What kind of fighting style is that?" Zhao Kongcheng asked in surprise.
"Jump attack," Lin Qiye answered briefly. This was exactly the result of combining the Minecraft jump attack mechanic with real-world swordsmanship.
Zhao Kongcheng nodded thoughtfully: "Strange, but extremely practical. Again!"
After training, Lin Qiye was about to leave when he noticed several female members standing at the edge of the field, strange glints in their eyes. Even more embarrassingly, the police dogs used for training circled around him, affectionately rubbing against his legs.
"Qiye, the dogs seem to really like you," Hong Ying said as she walked over, her tone carrying a hint of teasing.
Lin Qiye shook his head helplessly, tightening his mask and sunglasses. Slaanesh's power was becoming increasingly difficult to control; he had to find a way to solve this.
The next morning, the Night Watchman office received an emergency mission.
"Qiye, something happened at your school." Zhao Kongcheng handed over a report with a grim expression.
Lin Qiye scanned the report—students had reported anomalies; multiple students were behaving strangely with dull gazes, appearing to be controlled by some unknown force.
"We need to investigate," Zhao Kongcheng pointed at the report. "You're familiar with the environment, so come along. But be careful; we can't alert the enemy."
To avoid causing a commotion, Lin Qiye decided to put on his school uniform to investigate. He used thicker sunglasses and wore a larger mask and hat, covering almost his entire face.
Hong Ying and Si Xiaonan also disguised themselves as students to follow and provide support secretly.
Returning to the familiar campus, Lin Qiye felt a sense of dissonance. On the surface, everything looked normal; students walked through the campus, chatting and laughing.
But his mental perception caught the abnormality—at least dozens of teachers and students had irregular mental fluctuations. They looked normal but were being controlled like hosts for some parasitic organism, acting rigidly with hollow eyes. More worryingly, he recognized some of them, including his classmates Liu Xiaoyan and Han Ruoruo.
"The situation is more serious than expected," Lin Qiye whispered through his earpiece. "There are at least fifty infected, and it seems to be spreading."
Chen Muyue's voice came through: "I've notified Leng Xuan; he's on his way. He will use [Void Boundless Realm] to lock down the school and prevent more infected from escaping."
Lin Qiye continued patrolling the campus when he suddenly sensed several powerful auras hidden among the crowd. These auras belonged to non-human creatures disguised as ordinary staff and students.
"Suspected discovery of powerful infected; they are disguised as students and teachers," Lin Qiye reported quickly.
"Can you confirm their locations?" Zhao Kongcheng asked.
"No, they are too scattered and mixed in with ordinary students. These monsters have similar auras; they should be the same species."
"Damn, that's troublesome," Zhao Kongcheng cursed. "If we can't identify them one by one, we can't strike precisely."
Lin Qiye went silent for a moment, then had a flash of inspiration.
"Maybe we don't need to identify them one by one."
"What do you mean?"
"Since we can't identify them, we'll use a method to catch them all in one net," Lin Qiye's voice was steady and determined. "There's a flag-raising ceremony this morning. All teachers and students will be gathered on the playground."
"What do you plan to do?"
"Utilize my new ability." Lin Qiye took a deep breath. "My ability should trigger a reaction from them."
Before the ceremony began, students gathered on the playground. Lin Qiye slipped behind the rostrum, waiting for the right moment.
"Leng Xuan is in position, preparing to deploy Void Boundless Realm," Chen Muyue's voice came through. "Commence action."
Lin Qiye nodded and stepped silently onto the rostrum. Facing thousands of students and teachers below, he took a deep breath and slowly removed his sunglasses and mask.
Under the sunlight, his visage was like a deity descending to earth, radiating a soul-stirring brilliance. At the same time, he fully activated [Transcendent Charm]. An invisible wave rippled out from him, sweeping across the entire playground.
A wave of gasps and exclamations immediately rose from below. Everyone's gaze was involuntarily drawn to him, unable to look away.
Normal students were merely amazed by his beauty, but the infected students and teachers showed expressions of agony. Their faces contorted and their bodies trembled, as if something inside them was trying to claw its way out to reach Lin Qiye.
The few powerful ones were even worse; they could no longer maintain their human forms. Something writhed under their skin, and their eyes turned into vertical slits.
They were perfect parasites, and they couldn't wait to inject their eggs into his body.
