Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28 - The Devourer Of Hell

Chapter 28 — The Devourer of Hell

The city shook.

Gharvak's charge was like a natural disaster given life.

Entire streets cracked beneath its weight. Buildings swayed violently. Cars were thrown into the air as the colossal demon surged forward, its massive claws tearing through concrete like paper.

People screamed.

Sirens wailed.

The sky burned crimson.

And directly in Gharvak's path stood Kael Riven.

---

The Choice

Inside his mind, Kael fought for control.

The Devil still towered before him in the endless darkness.

"Let me take over."

"No."

"You cannot defeat that creature."

"No."

"You will die."

Kael clenched his fists.

"Then I'll die as myself."

For the first time, the Devil's smile disappeared.

The darkness trembled.

And cracks appeared throughout the void.

The Devil's eyes narrowed.

"Interesting."

---

A Human Heart

Back in reality, Kael's flames flickered violently.

Black-red fire surged around him.

Then slowly...

It began changing.

Not disappearing.

Changing.

The destructive darkness retreated.

The crimson flames became brighter.

Cleaner.

More controlled.

His burning crown faded.

His monstrous aura weakened.

Taro's eyes widened.

"He's coming back."

Lena looked hopeful.

"Kael..."

The Punisher turned toward them.

This time, both eyes were his own.

Not fully.

But enough.

Enough to remember who he was.

Enough to fight.

---

The Devourer's Strike

Gharvak roared.

The gigantic demon slammed one claw downward.

The attack could flatten an entire city block.

Kael looked up.

And moved.

BOOM!

The street exploded as the claw struck.

Dust and debris erupted everywhere.

But Kael was already airborne.

His crimson wings spread across the storm-filled sky.

Fire trailed behind him.

He shot upward like a comet.

Straight toward Gharvak's face.

---

First Blood

The Devourer laughed.

A deep, monstrous sound.

It opened its mouth.

Hellfire erupted outward.

A tidal wave of black flames surged toward Kael.

The Punisher raised both hands.

Crimson fire exploded from his palms.

The two infernos collided.

The sky split apart.

Shockwaves rolled across the city.

Clouds vanished instantly.

For several seconds, neither side gained ground.

Then Kael pushed harder.

"GET BACK!"

His flames erupted violently.

The black fire shattered.

For the first time in centuries...

Gharvak took damage.

A burning wound appeared across its face.

The giant demon roared in anger.

---

Azrael Watches

From a nearby rooftop, Azrael Voss observed calmly.

His golden eyes followed every movement.

Every attack.

Every burst of energy.

And slowly...

He smiled.

"Remarkable."

Lena turned toward him.

"What is?"

Azrael folded his arms.

"He's adapting."

Taro frowned.

"What does that mean?"

The Crimson Duke looked skyward.

"It means Kael is becoming something Hell never expected."

---

The Secret

Lena's gaze hardened.

"You know something."

Azrael chuckled.

"I know many things."

"Then tell us."

The Duke studied her for a moment.

Then sighed.

"Very well."

His smile disappeared.

"Your friend inherited more than the Devil's Mark."

Taro froze.

"What?"

Azrael looked directly at Kael.

"The power in his blood existed long before the Mark."

---

The Truth About His Mother

Lena's eyes widened.

"What are you talking about?"

Azrael's expression became unusually serious.

"Kael's mother wasn't ordinary."

The world seemed to stop.

Taro stared.

Lena stared.

Even Kael, fighting high above the city, felt something shift.

The Crimson Duke continued.

"Twenty years ago..."

"A woman escaped Hell."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Lena couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Azrael nodded.

"She abandoned her power."

"Abandoned her title."

"Abandoned immortality."

"And chose to live as a human."

Taro's jaw dropped.

"No way."

The Duke smiled sadly.

"Way."

---

The Fallen Queen

Azrael looked toward the burning sky.

"Her name was Seraphina."

The air grew heavy.

"One of Hell's greatest rulers."

"Feared even among demon lords."

Lena whispered softly,

"Kael's mother..."

Azrael nodded.

"Was a queen."

---

Above the City

Kael froze midair.

The words hit harder than any attack.

A queen?

His mother?

The woman who cooked breakfast every morning?

The woman who worried whenever he came home late?

The woman who taught him kindness?

Impossible.

Gharvak used the distraction immediately.

Its massive tail slammed into him.

CRASH!

Kael shot through three skyscrapers.

Glass exploded.

Steel bent.

Concrete shattered.

He crashed into the ground hard enough to create a crater.

---

Rising Again

Everything hurt.

His vision blurred.

Blood ran down his face.

Yet despite the pain...

His thoughts remained fixed on one thing.

His mother.

Seraphina.

A queen of Hell.

"No..."

He whispered.

But deep inside...

Something answered.

Not the Devil.

Not Azrael.

A memory.

A warm voice.

"Kindness is strength, Kael."

His mother's voice.

The same voice he'd heard his entire life.

The same voice he missed every day.

Tears filled his eyes.

And suddenly—

The Devil's Mark reacted.

---

A New Flame

The symbol on his chest erupted with light.

Not crimson.

Not black.

Silver.

The city froze.

Even Azrael looked shocked.

"No..."

The Crimson Duke stepped forward.

"That's impossible."

Silver fire spread across Kael's body.

His wings transformed.

The crimson flames remained.

But silver fire now flowed through them.

Balanced.

Controlled.

Pure.

Kael slowly rose from the crater.

His eyes opened.

One burned crimson.

The other silver.

---

The Heir of Two Worlds

The ground trembled beneath him.

The sky responded.

Hellfire and silver light spiraled together around his body.

For the first time...

The Devil's Mark wasn't dominating him.

It was obeying him.

Azrael stared.

A rare look of disbelief crossing his face.

"The Heir..."

Taro blinked.

"The what?"

The Duke didn't answer.

Because even he wasn't completely sure.

---

The Final Clash Begins

Gharvak roared.

The giant demon sensed the change.

And it was afraid.

For the first time.

Kael slowly lifted his head.

The silver-crimson flames danced around him.

His voice was calm.

Dangerously calm.

"You hurt my city."

The Devourer growled.

"You threatened my friends."

The ground cracked.

"And you reminded me of something important."

Kael's wings spread.

A storm of silver and crimson fire exploded into the heavens.

"My mother didn't raise a monster."

BOOM!

He vanished.

The battle truly began.
