"No," I snapped, my voice too sharp as I grabbed my wallet. "Absolutely not."
"You can barely walk, Noah."
"I am fine," I lied, taking a bold step toward the bedroom door. My hip immediately hitched, a sharp twitch of pain shooting down my thigh that made me stumble into the doorframe.
Cassian didn't say a word. A slow, incredibly annoying smirk touched the corner of his mouth, but he kept his comments to himself as he walked past me, the keys jingling lightly in his large palm.
"I said no, Cassian—"
"I wasn't asking," he replied smoothly, already heading down the stairs toward the garage.

How I actually ended up sitting in the passenger seat of his car remained entirely unclear.
One moment I was arguing in his bedroom, and the next, the heavy leather door was clicking shut beside me, locking me into the quiet cabin.
