Chapter 101 - Chapter 100 - Aegon's Arrival in Westeros

Seeing the long trails of smoke rising into the sky, Aegon showed a cold and calm gaze. Behind him, Varys also looked at the long trail of smoke with an equally calm and serene expression, as if the world wasn't on fire at that moment.

"After getting rid of the forest, do you think he will attack King's Landing or go to Harrenhal?" Aegon asked, without looking back, his exceptionally blue eyes staring at the black and gray smoke, leaving long columns of smoke.

"Harrenhal." Varys didn't hesitate to speak his mind. Although having King's Landing meant the game was won, King's Landing was not easy to conquer. Those walls had never fallen to any army and would not fall for a long time.

Just like the siege of Storm's End, which lasted about a year. The troops of House Tyrell, commanded by Mace Tyrell, besieged the castle for an entire year, but Stannis firmly prevailed until the House Tyrell Army was forced to retreat.

"I would have marched to King's Landing; controlling the city means you can be king." Aegon whispered, feeling quite envious of Robert's choice situation. If it were him, he would already be marching to King's Landing, besieging the city.

"You would have died in the siege." Varys said with an still gentle tone. "Seventeen thousand men may seem like a lot, but it's nothing in the face of a siege. If there's anything that can kill humans so quickly, it's a city siege."

"Remember, the goal is to strengthen yourself and create allies; you don't have a dragon or two sisters who can help you." Varys looked at Aegon's back. "Don't do anything on impulse; always think three times before acting, and you will survive for a long time."

However, if young people listened to advice, they wouldn't be young. Aegon didn't turn around and continued looking forward with an indecipherable expression; he changed the subject with a calm tone. "How are the captains of the Golden Company?"

Both Aegon and Varys naturally knew that Robert could buy the Golden Company's loyalty with promises and other things. Both knew that Robert was confident in using them because of this. However, knowing this great flaw, Varys and Aegon did not stand idly by, waiting for their power to disappear.

"Do these captains think they can stay in the Stormlands without our help? Everyone in Westeros hates these exiles. Without you on the throne, even if they stay in Westeros, they will only be commoners or minor nobles without any importance." Varys commented with a gentle and soft tone. His slightly effeminate voice seemed shrill to Aegon's ears, but the young man didn't let his feelings show on his face.

"But there are always fools blinded by greed." Aegon said, looking into the Master of Whisperers' eyes: He learned that you should never underestimate humans. They can always surprise you when it comes to being bad.

"That has already been resolved; some friends were so happy they hanged themselves with joy, some even committed suicide with seven stab wounds in the back." Said Varys. The eunuch, wearing yellow clothes that day, smiled as if what he had just said was nothing.

Aegon rolled his eyes and felt that Varys was treating him like a fool or a child; only a fool or a child would believe such absurd words. However, he was relaxed to know that these unstable elements had died. It was one less problem.

Varys prepared to leave, but before disappearing from the room, he stopped and looked at Aegon with a gentle smile, and finally said: "Your Kingsguard is complete; I chose the most experienced and strongest warriors from the Golden Company."

Having said that, he left, leaving Aegon behind.

Aegon clenched his fists as his expression darkened; a deep anger bubbled in his chest. Kingsguard? Wouldn't it be better to say they were spy soldiers? If anyone was foolish enough to believe Varys, Aegon was not one of them.

He knew the Master of Whisperers well; despite appearing gentle, he was anything but gentle. He was a monster in human skin, with a clear purpose and objective.

"Your Grace, it's time for your bath." When Aegon was lost in thought, he heard a female voice and looked up, finding a servant standing timidly at the bedroom door.

A perfect and charismatic smile appeared on Aegon's lips; he put all his anger and fury aside and nodded. "Thank you for your hard work."

The girl became even more timid with Aegon's compliment and thanks. She had never seen anyone as beautiful as Aegon. Along with his status as a claimant to the Iron Throne, he was definitely a good match for any woman of low status.

Of course, only fools thought so, just like the little servant before Aegon, because all the nobles in the castle knew that Aegon was nothing more than a pretty bird.

Suddenly, Aegon saw the servant cautiously look around and approach, handing him a small paper wrapped with a seven-colored ribbon.

Aegon's eyes narrowed seeing the seven-colored ribbon. He looked at the servant with a deep gaze but didn't comment on anything, just opened the paper. After seeing the content, a smile appeared on the young claimant's lips.

There was only one sentence on the paper.

"Aegon VI Targaryen, Sixth of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm."

Harrenhal - Home of House Peverell.

"Aegon VI Targaryen, Sixth of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm." Rhaegar spoke aloud, the murmurs around instantly increased, like water added to hot oil.

"Blackfyre!!!" One of the lords roared furiously. Not only him, other lords were furious. Obviously, these lords had lost people in the Blackfyre Rebellions, which was not surprising. There were five rebellions over sixty years; many died in these wars.

Rhaegar raised his hand, and silence once again predominated in the room. Looking at all the lords and vassals present, he slowly said: "Robert, Hoster, and Jon Arryn are supporting this Blackfyre, giving a valid reason for this war."

"They think they can hide behind a puppet and get away with it when they lose the war; this only shows how desperate they are." Rhaegar said with a laugh, making the atmosphere of the hall more relaxed.

"I will go to the Trident with half of our army. To the Trident, Jon, you go to Riverrun with the rest. I want that old fish to know the despair and the price of betrayal. House Targaryen gave him power, but that power can be taken away!" Rhaegar said with a cold tone; he looked at his right-hand man with a confident gaze.

Jon Connington's heart beat faster before the beautiful and dangerous Rhaegar; he felt he had fallen in love again. This was the Rhaegar he had fallen in love with, a man who could be a true leader in times of need.

Unaware that his friend wanted to screw him over and that his ass was in danger, Rhaegar stood up and left the other matters to the Hand of the King, Raymun Darry.

Accompanied by the Kingsguard, Rhaegar arrived at his room and saw Cadmus sitting on the sofa, savoring wine. Beside him, Daenerys also drank a glass of wine, her cheeks flushed with alcohol.

"I'm exhausted from so much work, and you're relaxing as if there wasn't a war." Rhaegar couldn't help but complain, seeing how relaxed Cadmus was. To say he was envious was an understatement.

"You wanted to be king; I'm very satisfied drinking and relaxing with my beautiful wife." Cadmus looked at Rhaegar and said with a satisfied laugh. He was truly satisfied with his life. A beautiful woman, a large castle, and a lot of power. Could he ask for more?

"I heard rumors about the gigantic stone that came from the sky." Rhaegar sat before Cadmus and commented with a solemn tone. After hearing the report from Jon's spies, his Master of Whisperers truly feared that some mage would summon a meteor above him.

Cadmus naturally knew what Rhaegar wanted to ask. After all, no one could remain calm before a being who could summon a meteor.

"First of all, Stregobor only managed to summon a meteor because he sacrificed a magical jewel containing the magical energy he had accumulated over more than ninety years." Cadmus explained in a calm tone, remembering that the mage was still in the dungeons.

Even after a few hours of torture, the mage's will and determination had not been broken. This left him with a little admiration for the old mage. Although he was a fool of abysmal proportions and a fanatic for prophecies, the man had courage.

Rhaegar felt relieved to hear Cadmus's words; apparently, such a mage was rare, which was very good. He really didn't want to wake up in a hurry because some crazy mage had summoned a meteor from space!
