Liu Xi and Zi Yan both turned their gazes toward Qing Lin. Zi Yan hadn't even activated her power yet, but Qing Lin had already sensed the mysterious call.
"What kind of summoning is this?" Zi Yan asked curiously. "Does it have something to do with the relic we're looking for? Or is there perhaps an opportunity within it connected to your eyes?"
"I don't know," Qing Lin replied softly, shaking her head. "I just feel like something is calling out to me… telling me to hurry over." She turned to Liu Xi, seeking guidance. "Young Master, what should we do?"
If she were alone, she would have gone to investigate without hesitation. But now that Liu Xi was with her, Qing Lin naturally waited for his decision.
Liu Xi's expression shifted slightly — he had a guess. What lay ahead could be both a danger and a blessing for Qing Lin. But if she could subdue it, the gain for her would be enormous.
"Go, of course we'll go!" Liu Xi chuckled. "With our strength, what dangers can't we face? Even if it's a mountain of blades or a sea of fire, we'll cut our way through. What's there to fear — a Half Saint?"
That was the confidence born of power. With three Dou Zun experts acting together, even if they did encounter a Half Saint, Zi Yan could simply tear open space and take them away.
That was how the Ancient Void Dragons operated — if they could win, they'd fight to the end; if they couldn't, no one could ever catch them.
"Let's go," said Liu Xi.
"Alright," replied Qing Lin and Zi Yan together.
Their figures flickered and vanished, leaving behind only a whisper in the air. The countless magical beasts roaming the Beast Bone Mountain Range had no idea that three Dou Zun-level powerhouses had just passed above their heads.
After crossing another range of bone-white peaks, Liu Xi noticed that the number of bones was increasing, their piles growing higher and denser — a sign that they were already approaching the deepest part of the mountain range.
'So this Beast Bone Mountain Range, formed from the remains of countless magical beasts… hides within it the tomb of an Ancient Heaven Serpent?' Liu Xi mused, eyes narrowing. What an unexpected discovery.
For Dou Zun experts, traversing this massive range took only minutes. Soon, the trio arrived at a deep valley filled entirely with bones.
What caught their attention was that all of these remains belonged to serpent-type magical beasts.
That couldn't be a coincidence. Liu Xi could sense that the entire valley was crawling with serpentine creatures, some as strong as 7th Rank beasts lurking deeper within.
"Qing Lin," Liu Xi said, glancing at her, "can you control these serpent beasts — or at least put them down quietly? We should avoid exposing our presence."
For someone with the Jade Snake Three-Flower Pupils, dealing with snake-type magical beasts was as natural as breathing. Liu Xi could have done it himself, but his methods would be far cruder.
Qing Lin nodded. The green glow in her eyes deepened, and within each pupil bloomed a three-petaled jade-green flower. A strange, entrancing power began to radiate silently.
She stepped into the valley. Before the countless serpents could even react, Qing Lin's slender fingers formed seals, and she let out a soft cry. Her eyes blazed with brilliant green light that washed over the valley like an ethereal wave.
Under that dazzling glow, serpents of all ranks — from the smallest, rankless ones to 7th Rank beasts — froze where they were, unable to resist even for an instant.
Qing Lin didn't kill them. Instead, she sent them all into deep sleep. For them, it was a mercy — better to sleep in peace than die awake.
When the glow finally dimmed, she turned and gestured for Liu Xi and Zi Yan to approach.
As they entered, Liu Xi's perception confirmed that nearly every serpent in this thousand-zhang-wide valley was sound asleep.
Zi Yan glanced at Qing Lin's eyes, unable to hide her awe. "Just a pair of eyes... with that kind of power," she murmured.
"Let's move on," Liu Xi said. "Whatever's calling you is likely another serpent-type magical beast."
"Mm." Qing Lin nodded. The summoning she felt grew clearer and stronger the deeper they went.
The trio advanced swiftly toward the heart of the valley. As the path narrowed, the number of bones decreased — yet Liu Xi could sense a faint, lingering pressure emanating from deeper within.
'Even in death, its presence remains…' Liu Xi thought. 'Could it be that the death of the Ancient Heaven Serpent drew countless other serpents here, forming this valley over time?'
He also noted something else — the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe had never claimed this place. Perhaps because their bloodline originated from the Nine-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python rather than the true Ancient Heaven Serpent.
After several dozen more meters, the valley suddenly opened up. A massive skeletal form lay coiled within — cold, immense, and awe-inspiring.
Judging by the remains, its body must have spanned hundreds of meters in life. Its bone structure revealed nine distinct heads — though now only four remained intact. The rest had been shattered in what must have been a catastrophic battle.
"An… Ancient Heaven Serpent," Zi Yan said solemnly, violet light surging uncontrollably from her body as instinct took over. Her aura flared in battle readiness.
The Ancient Void Dragons and Ancient Heaven Serpents had been mortal enemies since ancient times. Of the four great primordial beast races, only the Ancient Void Dragons still endured — testament to how brutal those ancient wars had been.
"It's the one calling me," Qing Lin said softly, confirming Liu Xi's suspicion. The summoning indeed came from the Ancient Heaven Serpent.
"Be careful," Liu Xi warned. "If it can still summon you, that means it isn't completely dead…"
As if to echo his words, a terrifying pressure suddenly erupted from the massive bones. Wisps of mist seeped out from between the cracks, and as the vapor thickened, the once-lustrous bones dulled and turned gray.
When the final wisp of mist escaped, the skeleton crumbled entirely, collapsing into dust. The drifting vapors, however, didn't disperse.
Instead, they coalesced — and from within that swirling fog came a blood-curdling hiss that shook the valley.
The mist writhed and condensed, forming a colossal phantom serpent with nine ferocious heads.
"Prepare for battle," Liu Xi ordered grimly. "No matter what it is, we'll subdue it first and ask questions later. A soul body can't be that dangerous."
Fiery azure flames burst from his body as his hands formed the seals for a Soul Technique.
"Wait, Young Master," Qing Lin said suddenly, her voice hesitant. "If it's just a soul body... I think I can control it. And… it doesn't seem to resist me."
"Oh?" Liu Xi arched an eyebrow. "Then give it a try. Zi Yan and I will stand guard."
"Mm."
Qing Lin stepped forward, forming hand seals as the strange green blossoms in her eyes bloomed again. Twin beams of jade light shot from her pupils, enveloping the nine-headed serpent's ghostly form.
To everyone's astonishment, the once-fierce serpent didn't resist at all. Under her control, its nine heads bowed slightly, and within each of its eighteen eyes bloomed the same eerie three-petaled flower.
Liu Xi blinked, stunned. "…Did it just submit itself to you that easily?"
