I bit my lower lip hard because I couldn't answer that question.
The sound of my father's sigh convinced me that he was frustrated by this tragedy too.
"So Mr. and Mrs. Kleith knew about all of this?" I asked.
"They did. Their business wouldn't survive if the truth about their daughter became public." His voice remained calm. "But Kingston is a strong name. Even with that scandal, their pharmaceutical business wouldn't have been shaken."
I let out a bitter chuckle. "You saved the Kleith business. Saved more lives by sacrificing a few?!" I scoffed.
My father fell silent for a moment. His fingers clenched and unclenched restlessly.
"I saved Rafael." He said it firmly, but without his usual arrogance.
"Oh... how heroic." I laughed coldly. "But unfortunately, his world is crumbling now."
"He's mature enough not to make foolish decisions."
Right now, he sounded like a wise old man. But I didn't want to believe there was even a little sincerity behind what he had done.
