"Its not like you're trying to marry me because you like me". Canary said. These were some of the last week words Canary had spoken to Agustin during the countryside outing. Other than hello and good afternoon.
How it all started were because of the recent rain in the countryside leaving everyone stranded in their homes. But for the Wolf family they were newly acquainted with Thomas and Alexia due to being a new noble in the kings faction.
Although Thomas was the kings best friend he would not be picking sides especially between a father and his son, one that he had a hand in raising and so Thomas was strictly neutral.
But being the kings best friend he had began to host the Wolf family at their countryside home and when Agustin had word that Stellan Wolf would be joining he too invited himself.
Leaving the vibe awkward. "Good evening we are having". Agustin said, stepping into the mansion soaking wet. "Is it"? Eddison said, staring out at the pouring rain. "The wolf boy is here"? He whispered to Eddison who nodded embarrassed.
"Good I heard it was a gathering I wanted to join too". "No gathering viscount and viscountess Wolf are just visiting my parents". Eddison said, raising an eyebrow. "A gathering"! Agustin said, smiling brightly.
"Where is Canary and the Wolf boy"? Said looking around. "In the study-". "You left them alone"! Agustin said rushing up the stairs. "You didn't let me finish with Amara and Emilio"! Eddison rushed after Agustin who burst into the study like someone's father catching his daughter in a act.
Amara,Emilio, Canary, Stellan were all on the couch or chairs talking or reading something when Agustin burst into the study. They all stared at him bewildered and a little scared at his behavior.
"What's wrong"? "Did someone get hurt". Stellan said being the first person to speak up at Agustin's strange behavior. "No not at all just seeing what you all were up to". He said, staring at the empty spot between Canary and Stellan.
"Shall I sit here". Agustin said, grabbing the spot for himself. "Uhh sure"? Canary said frowning at his behavior also. "What brings you here today"? Agustin's said looking at Stellan. "Uh I can ask you the same"? Canary said smiling.
"No reason just to visit my two best friends". "Shouldn't you be seeing to Eddison then"? Stellan asked, looking at Eddison standing in the doorway with his arms crossed. "Wasn't young lord Whitewood friends with you first then lady Canary"? "Canary is a new friend i should treasure her greatly seeing she's is my best friend's sister- but uh since when have you and Canary been on a first name basis"?
"Since today". Stellan said, smiling jolly. "Canary you consider him a friend that quickly"? Agustin asked. "Let's go now". Eddison said, grabbing Agustin up. "What-"?! Agustin yelled getting dragged off. "What are you doing"?! Agustin said snatching away from Eddison.
"No what are you doing"! Eddison yelled. "They are in the talks of marriage"! "Talks of marriage"?! Agustin scoffed. "You should be more protective over your little sister". "I'm taking care of my little sister just fine thank you". Eddison said staring Agustin down.
"You were serious in that garden weren't you". Eddison scoffed. "And if I was-". Eddison pushed Agustin backwards and a emotion that Agustin had never seen before with Eddison said come.
Anger. Eddison, who was usually calm and cheerful, was angry of such a anger that Agustin took that he might hurt him. Agustin took a step back watching for Eddison to put his hands on him or better yet yell at him. But Eddison did no such thing.
He spoke calmly and with authority. No yelling or shouting was done and yet at the very much Eddison was heard. "Carrie will never marry you and if she would agree to it I wouldn't allow it. I shall pack her up and ship her away to Lyikar myself and when she is there I will ban you from seeing her".
"You would go so hard for me to not marry or see your sister what is wrong with me"! Agustin roared. "What isn't wrong with you or Shimon for that matter-"? Eddison said staring him down. "You will not use my sister for your benefit nor will I allow you to dim her light with your fighting with the king". "I shall make her light even brighter-"! Agustin protested even louder but still Eddison was as calm as ever refuted Agustin with his calm and confident voice and words.
"You shall dim it you that the Abarcas household that is full of venomous snakes". "You say such words I am your friend"! Agustin yelled. "And Canary is my dear sister". "You will not hurt her with your business". Eddison said. He began to walk away leaving Agustin wallowing in his angry and own shamefulness. "If my family are venomous snakes then what is your family? Of sheep's and wolf's"! Agustin yelled at Edison's back.
Eddison did not turn behind and say anything back to Agustin instead he went on his way. If Agustin would try to persuade Canary to marry him he would leave him. He would soon see that things wouldn't be so easy that Canary would not marry Agustin out of business nor would she leave the possibility of leaving Lyikar.
A rude awakening would come for the overconfident Agustin. Who thought that Canary thought smart Wes's like any other girl who fell for him. Canary was not the same as the other girls. Maybe it was because of the rejections that Canary had told him but a fire had light under Agustin and he full of rage and pride came into the study and grabbed Canary away.
Leaving Stellan who didn't know whether to grab her or let her go with Agustin. Amara and Emilio were shocked themselves and the three kept looking at one another.
"What is it Agustin"? Canary shouted, pulling back at Agustin's hand. Again didn't answer Canary. He was lost in his own thoughts and wandering the halls not knowing where he was going. "You are hurting me"! Canary said pulling away from Agustin's grip. Lighting and thunder had echoed through the halls snapping Agustin out of his rage. They stood in front of these huge windows and they both looked outside at the downpour in silence.
"What is it"? Canary finally said. "Have you've gotten into it with my brother"? "Istella marry me". Agustin suddenly said I. Lyikarian "Marry you? Why all of a sudden"? Canary said, confused.
"Do you really intend to marry the wolf boy"? Agustin said in a desperate manner.. Canary was confused by all this. Why Agustin to was asking like this? Why he was acting so desperately and why he was so insistent on not letting Canary marry Stellan Wolf.
A small ball began to grow in Canary that day in the garden when Agustin had comforted her…rather maybe much earlier than that. She had began to looked at Agustin in another way and analyze all these things that Agustin would do for her.
No friend would do that..nor would a friend comfort you in telling you would marry especially one who had just become friends with you. It was two reasons why Agustin was doing this Canary thought.
One. That she was Eddison's sister and Agustin's as just being kind to her….and the other which Canary wished it was and so she decided to tease the already tense Agustin who was practically sweating on this somewhat cold spring day. One that she would soon regret.
"I just don't understand why you are doing all of this. It's not like you are trying to marry me because you, like me, promised to do business with you and Shimon I don't intend to go back on my word". Canary half heartily joke. She wasn't looking Agustin in the face when she said this but when she finally looked at Agustin to see his expression to see if he had by chance held even a little burly the feelings Canary had held for him.
She was met with cold eyes. Cold eyes that pierced her like a knife …a side of Agustin that she had heard rumors about but never once did she think that she would meet this side of Agustin. But she did. "Exactly". He said coldly. "I do not share feelings for you but if by chance that Wolf boy does do you truly think he will let you help me with the business if you marry him"?
Canary took a step back from Agustin. She was somewhat trembling and she could see the annoyance on Agustin's face. It's like a mask had dropped and some other person was standing here. This dark somewhat angry and annoyed expression. The same she had seen on the others who had rejected her. That they were struck dealing with some type of poop on their shoe.
"That is if the Wolf boy would even want to marry you". Agustin said taking a step towards Canary as she stepped back. "Istella do you truly think if you fall for the Wolf boy he will except your feelings"? "No he will reject you just like everyone else so you might as well get married to me".
Canary shook her head no to Agustin who stopped in his tracks of this step backwards step forward chase him and Canary were doing. "No"? Agustin said. He voice cold and his expression even more twisted than before. "Ah right eddy did say you would only marry for love didn't he". "Hah Istella my dear do you truly think that anyone will marry you for you love"? "They won't you will not find it that marriage of love that your grandparents had that you so desperately speak up it will not happen".
"You only want to use me". "As the others you are not my friend". Canary's voice cracked. "I am your only friend". Agustin said. "I will probably be only peeps who will be willing to be your friend and marry you no one else will be your friend or marry you". Agustin's words were harsh and cold and just as Eddison had said he would do he began to dim Canary's light.
Agustin confused with his own feelings began to see this as well. Canary usually bright eyes were now dim and the girl standing before him was not the girl he had met in Whitehill castle he had caused a crack on this precious vase that held golden flowers. And somehow he still didn't care as long as Canary was by his side he could fix that small crack or maybe transfer the golden flowers into a new vase.
"No-". Canary said softly and heartbroken. "You are not my friend". "No". Agustin said just as heartbroken and cold. "I am your friend". And the crack in the vase got bigger and little droplet of water began to run out the crack of the vase.
"Fine-". Agustin said staring Canary up and down. "Go to the Wolf boy he shall be like the others and you will marry me". Agustin said. "Then you shall see whether I am truly your friend or not". And Agustin left Canary there alone. She couldn't cry and she couldn't be upset. For she had perceived just as she did with the other people whom she had liked that this too would happen.
That what she thought would happen and what always did happen that Agustin would not share the same feelings for her. And as the others she stuff the feeling deep within side her and eventually they would too go away. But nothing ever comes gold with stufifng your feelings deep inside you. Eldreana had always told Canary this and by some chance Canary who had been rejected the first three times unknowingly started to do this.
For she didn't know what else to do with these feelings other than ignore them and hopefully they would go away and she would feel better after being used and betrayed. No….she simply had grown numb and used to it.
