Chapter 157 - Chapter 156: Their powers are Bullshit

Bakugo would never say this out loud, and he would rarely admit this in his head, but he was glad he had company at the moment. When facing an opponent, the main objective was to always figure out what kind of Quirk they had. When facing a powerhouse, look for the weakness and strike there. When facing an esoteric, avoid the trigger. When facing multiple, learn ALL of them and work around it.

Thanks to Ear Lobes sending in the occasional soundwave in support, Arms keeping the brats out of harm's way, and Dodger … fucking shit up, he could glance a few key details. Which he used Ear Lobes to relay by tapping his finger.

Tubes had a scanner quirk to figure out whatever his opponent did, a laser hand quirk for ranged attack, and a barrier. He also, according to that motive rant, wasted a space on a regen quirk that didn't work. "Right Hook Punch!" The barrier was decent, but it only blocked one area, meaning speed was key, as the lasers were only meant to counter charged up and winding attacks. "Rocketman!"

Horns was also easy. He had a muscle quirk that Dodger had experience in, which was making someone strong enough to get punched by 100% of One For All three times or more, Bone Blades for cutting him, a quirk that speed up his blood flow in small bursts for speedy surprises, sound blasts, and something that let him avoid attacks on Dodger's level. "DIE!" The current solution was Mid Range combat. Blast from afar, get in close, take a shot, and get out. If Bakugo was hit once he was dead, he knew it.

"Claw Gatling!" Dodger at least knew the talking out bullshit wouldn't work on these psychos, and wasted no time going for lethal shots. It actually managed to crack that barrier open.

"Super strength that's strong enough to pressurize the air around you…that's quite the amazing ability."

"It's the power that's going to take you out! Rabbit Axe Cannon!"

"Correction." Dodger misstepped, expecting a barrier where there was none, only to get hit by a fucking hydra . Water spat out of the villain's back and kept the boy locked. "It's going to take your friends out." The man grabbed Dodger's head, hand glowing. Shit, he needed to….

BOOM

The two were sent flying in opposite directions, luckily keeping him safe as his opponent was distracted as well. "The fuck was that, I thought you could take any quirk!?" Horns shouted out.

Tubes stood up, dusting himself off while glaring at Dodger. "Impossible, you're like me, you have multiple quirks too."

"No, I'm just haunted by people living in my head!" Why did such a stupid line actually make perfect sense to him now?

"... Do we have people living in our heads?" Horns asked, pondering. "I mean, it would explain the craving for human flesh and why I keep saying Devi instead of god." Was he like Glasses too? Fucking hell, what was with these 'demons' lately?

"Why would you eat people, they taste disgusting!?" EVERYONE paused to look at Dodger. "That's what the talking corn chip in America said to me at least." And sighed in relief.

"You know what, fuck this." Tubes spoke up. "Ten, you have anything in your bag of tricks to get these guys off our backs? I feel I'm going to go insane listening to this kid." Most people did, he was lucky he stayed as sane as he was.

The 'demon' laughed. "Just the thing." He pointed at the three of them. "Trauma." … Was that supposed to do something?

"Hey Kaachan." His heart nearly stopped, turning to see a bloodied up kid with freckles standing next to him, his face looked dead. "Glad to see you're still alive."

"De-Izuku…?" No, no this couldn't be happening right now!

"You can't even say my name right can you." The boy asked with a sigh. "You haven't changed at all? I would have thought me going away would have fixed it, but I was wrong. You're just the same old Kaachan. But, I'm at fault as well aren't I, just breathing in your presence."

"No, that wasn't … you weren't." That wasn't right.

"It's alright, I was just being weak, and I had a dream that was impossible to achieve. It was stupid to even try…"

"Get out, get out…!" He was saying so much shit he both agreed and disagreed with simultaneously.

"I understand, you were right, I'll never be a hero." … Katsuki raised his grenadier gauntlet. "Oh, you're going to kill me now? I thought you wanted me to swan dive off of a roof? You want to take it up in your own hands like the villain you-" He pulled the pin, blowing the thing in front of him to sky high.

"De-... Izuku would have never given up … he was a stubborn asshole." Just like him. Katsuki took a moment to breathe shakingly before looking around. Tubes and Horns were gone, likely having chased after the brats with Arms. Dodger was arguing with a tree and Ear Lobes was crying on the ground. He walked up and punched the former in the face. "It's an illusion, hit it!"

"Got it!" Dodger responded and hit the tree, sending it flying with full force. "Huh... That was therapeutic as hell. He would have been a really good therapist if he wasn't an asshole." He was inclined to agree. Then the moron jumped. "The kids!"

"I'm faster, get Earlobes out of whatever the hell she's doing." He readied his gauntlets, hearing a bit of conversation.

"I'm sorry I'm pathetic, I know I'll end up alone and depressed, I made a mistake choosing heroism instead of music."

"Not true Jiro! You were a hero to Eri by playing music!" Dodger shook Earlobes, attempting to snap her out of whatever illusion she was experiencing. "You can play music and be a hero too!" And that was the last thing he heard as he blasted off to give the pair of assholes a lesson in death.

The squirrel watched as her mighty brethren fought bravely … foolishly but bravely. She was tending to the wounded, using leaves to help close up wounds temporarily. The ones that survived anyway. The Calamity Beast, the most dangerous enemy they have ever seen.

It ate her brothers and sisters, and all who stood before it. Even the mighty humans with their 'quirks' were no match, attacks simply bouncing off. "Come on, give me a real challenge you assholes. Your numbers are weak and your strongest just tickles!"

It was a fool's wish to hope to take on such an amalgamated abomination such as the monster before them. Like how they were all fools to suddenly submit themselves under the rule of their new king. He expected them to fight this monstrosity? This beast of unstoppable rage? He was a tyrant that needed to be overthrown.

"My army is losing morale, I can't afford to sound out anymore of my troops!" Their so-called king shouted to his allies.

"Not like they weren't doing anything other than getting themselves killed." The rocky human paused, turning to the army. "I mean, sorry for your loss." Insensitive bastard, her mate had been among the first injured … she would never forget his dying words, 'for the king'. The delusional little bastard … Why couldn't have it been her? Now she'd had to send her son Skippy to live with her sister Slappy, so she could process her grief in silence.

"Come on, you guys have fought villains before, any ideas?" Spoke the tailed human, who was cradling a broken tail. His scream of agony when it was cracked somehow was the loudest thing among the field at the time.

"I've been hitting him with lightning bolts that do jack shit, clearly not my territory!" The duke shouted out to their companions. He may be the first to go when they revolutionized, given his threat level.

"I might be able to do some damage if I wasn't worried about you guys." The human with two toned hair answered. Arrogant fool. How did humans live this long having such massive egos?

"Dude, fuck restraint, we're all about to die!" The Duke retorted.

"Fair enough." The ice covered human changed position and raised his hand, before setting half the forest ablaze with his fire. Forget the duke, this human was nature, how could such a thing exist? "I'll keep it on him until-"

"Congratulations!" … No. "I'm actually feeling a bit warm!" The beast came out of the burning forest, his coat aflame as he rushed at the two haired force of nature. He looked unharmed. "I'll be sure to make your deaths twice as quick as I would've made them." This creature of calamity bent nature around him…if they hadn't sworn themselves to the foolish king, this was who they would dedicate their lives to.

"Todoroki, you have a plan B!?" The rocky human asked.

"I could freeze his organs within a couple seconds of skin on skin contact." Forcing one into hibernation? Cruel but somewhat necessary.

"... You mean kill him?"

"Does it look like we have the option of mercy here?" The king commanded. "But can you even get in there?"

"Not with this team, Red Riot's already taken too much damage. We'll stall then retreat." The force of nature summoned a wall of Ice. "This isn't a fight we can win at the moment. We need to regroup and rethink our approach."

"Can't imagine what everyone else is going through." The duke followed the force of nature's lead. "We may be out of our depth here."

Tsu was feeling many things at the moment. There was exasperation at fighting a crazy fan girl, fear of becoming just like her if platonic relationships also drove someone insane … oh, and maybe worry because that last needle nearly pinned her tongue. "Iida, you're the only one with armor, the rest of us can't get in close."

"I shall be the team's shield to the best of my ability!" Iida, the closest person this group had to being sane, got in the way of incoming projectiles.

"So can I ask you a question?" The woman, Slice they learned, asked. "Why does he shout if the villains can hear him just as much as you guys?"

"... First it was Mineta and now this … I'm losing my touch." Maybe Iida wasn't ready to take on the vice rep role as she assumed he was.

"It's a bad habit he's struggled to break, we all have them." Ochaco excused, dodging needles by floating in the air.

"Right, like the suicide attack from the grape kid?" Slice pointed to the bloody portrait currently pinned into a booth. Sure it got her foot pinned to some rubble and made running hard, but given their lack of defense it didn't help the situation.

"Eh…more like delusional. We throw him out the window like three times a week and he still peeps into the girl's locker room."

"And now I'm glad the only guy on my team who is into women is super shy about it when the time counts." She muttered. "Now to double check. Frog girl-"

"Call me Froppy!" She shouted out. If she was going to be humiliated and annoyed, she was gonna do it with the right name damn it!

"Froppy is pinned over there, Knight guy is the shield, Uravity is dodging surprisingly well for a girl her age. You should take dance classes, they really increase your mobility more than you think."

"Huh, and here I thought Mina just wanted someone to hang out with outside of class. I've mainly just been copying the moves of the guy I like. He's completely untouchable."

"Well that's no good at all." She argued. Tsu couldn't believe she was hearing this conversation. "You can't admire someone so superior to you that you try to copy their skill, each person has their own style. If I tried and copied Nine, I would have failed on Day 1. I mean, how do you copy someone with a copy of All For One?"

The entire class paused. "... What?" Tsu asked, almost quietly, but made sure to raise her voice high enough. It couldn't be possible. The nightmare was supposed to have ended, it couldn't still be going on could it?

"Oh, since we've been doing our jobs so far, I might as well say it." Slice shrugged. "Nine went through this whole trial and process to get a version of All For One's quirk transferred to him in order to save his life. Sadly it made his condition worse, but we hear there's a boy here with a quirk that could heal him." The lady shrugged again. "You wouldn't happen to know where we could find a Katsuma, would you-?"

"Damn your danger magnet, Iruma!" Ochaco suddenly shouted, grabbing rubble the size of her body and tossing it into the air, before removing her own gravity and throwing herself up, once there she changed the rubbles trajectory, flying around needles, and doubled their weight mid air to act as a meteor against Slice.

The villain in question had to put everything into protecting herself, harding her hair to act like a shield. "Iida, me and you should leave and find them while we still have the chance!" Much as it annoyed her, love was giving Ochaco the boost she needed to keep going.

"But we can't just leave our comrades. Sato is still trying to get close." He argued.

"Yeah, I gave up after the third attempt." They turned to the boy hidden behind her, covered in bloody spikes. "I'm just gonna leave it to the currently raging gravity girl."

"What happened to us being friends!?" The villains shouted, trying to use her hair as a shield.

"That was before you brought up a super villain with multiple quirks going against Iruma!" She shouted in anger, throwing more rubble like meteors. "Why can't he just have a simple vacation damn it!? I won't let him go through that hell again!" Tsu felt the same way, on a completely platonic and sibling level.

"Let's head out before things get worse." For both themselves and the class's little brother.

Ashido slid away from another bandage. Sure she could just burn them, but it was a hassle to do that and fight giant monsters at the same time. Not that attacking them ended, as they functioned on asteroid logic! "Break them in half and they become two smaller ones!"

"Just like a hydra. A monster that roams in the depths of the dark." Tokoyami darkly followed up.

"How did they kill that!?" Sero shouted, on edge ever since he'd been controlled, doing his best to dodge as his tape just gave the villain more ammo.

"They burnt it alive as they cut off every one of its heads." The living quirk responded. "I mean, acid is a good substitute, but lasers are a good second. So Sparkly may actually be useful! Hey, how comfortable are you guys with murder again?"

"Not at all, my friend from the other side." Aoyama shot another. "It makes me more queasy than my own quirk. Then again the villain is a close second."

"So are you all going to give up anytime soon?" The bandage man was whittling wood. WHITTLING WOOD! I mean sure the design was gorgeous but time and place! "Cause I have a job to do and just keeping you guys locked up is easier than this tedious back and forth."

"Would you believe me if I said this back and forth talk actually helps us win most of the time?" She burned through another movie. "It either convinces people to stop fighting or annoys them to the point where they can't concentrate." It is how their friends survived Shigaraki and Stain.

"I'm ex-military, remember? Talking with the enemy is my strategy. For example, Shadow boy is weak to light, Sparkly gets sick after too many blasts, Tape is useless, and Acid can't shoot off one to many squicks."

"We can analyze our enemy too. For instance, Sero's been screaming the entire time he's been wrapped up." Tokoyami pointed out. A muffled cry for help proved it. "So you can't take control of us fully. Which means there's a limit to what you can do."

"Congratulations. I can't control living things." That was … surprisingly easy. "Luckily I don't need to." Some bandages that were hidden snuck up, wrapping around Aoyama's belt and Dark Shadow. "I take it your support items and quirk don't count as living, do they?"

"Damn it … first Vantablack, now him … how am I so useless right now?" This may be the first time she felt empathy for a quirk.

"So as long as we don't have anything on us, we're good to go!" She shouted, but then sulked a bit. She didn't want to go Toru about…wait, wasn't Toru supposed to be on their team?

"Like any of you are shameless enough to fight me stark naked." The villain chuckled … only to be grappled. "What the hell!?"

"I have no shame you son of a bitch!" Spoke up a familiar voice, the mummies pausing as they rushed to help their creator, who was currently being pummeled. "This is for making me take off my costume, and this is for making me miss Iruma-kun, and this is for being a general asshole!"

"Acid Gun!" With all the creatures occupied, that left them wide open for an assault from behind. One by one, the red bandages melted away into nothing, freeing every object trapped inside, including her friends.

"My belt!" … Sorry Aoyama, necessary sacrifice.

Momo was a bit miffed. She went with Shoji to keep an eye on Suzuki, only for the boy to grab the man and a little girl as he jumped off at the speed of an animal! Now she had to walk on foot all the way there, the bastard. A bit harsh on him, maybe, but it's been a stressful year, she deserved to vent just a little!

From the villain attacks, to her self doubts, worrying about handling her first relationship, and the confusing feelings Kyoka made her have with her confession, it was just a little too much to handle all at once. She needed some way to release this stress before she exploded. Who knows, maybe she could shoot up a villain that was asking for it.

And Shoji was now running at her with two children in arms. "You have a lot to answer for-"

"RUN, NOW!" He shouted in fear, trying to make his way past her if it wasn't for the laser cutting into his leg, stopping him in his tracks. "Fuck …" He hissed clearly in agony.

"Now, now, little sheep should just stand in their lanes." Spoke a horned villain before noticing her, his face annoyed. "Oh great, now we have a stripper to deal with." Never before had she felt such a mix of terror and anger.

"So we shouldn't hold back on this villain?" She asked her partner hopefully, who sent a quirk nod.

"He and his partner have multiple quirks, and they're after the boy's quirk." Shoji explained.

"Good." A missile launcher was quickly formed thanks to all the kind gifts the townsfolk generously offered, firing it without any hesitation.

"Quick work, impressive." Said missile stopped in mid air, quickly shifting and flying off into the distance. "Electromagnetism. As long as they're static enough in the air, everything metallic is under my control … and with a storm on the rise?" The horned one grinned, holding a hand out to Shoji. "Even the iron in human bodies is manipulatable."

"Oh, your powers are just bullshit." Shoji groaned with a bit of an eyeroll as he was dragged to the villain.

"Eh, it comes with being half demon now. Be lucky I won't eat any of you alive. You all smell horrible." The villain rolled his eyes. "Nine, come on, I've got the bra-"

"ATOM BURNER!" Never before has she thought she would be glad being saved by Bakugo, crashing in and hitting the villain in the back with his legs, creating an explosive force about the equivalent of his gauntlet grenades.

"What the hell!?" The horned villain was unscathed!? He just glared at Bakugo. "How did you break out of that? I should have manifested your worst traumas into physical form!?"

"This entire class lives its traumas every second, pay finer attention to details you bastard!" The really pissed off boy shouted back, shooting off a rapid fire explosion straight into the horned 'demon'. Yeah, trauma wasn't very effective in a class this depressing.

"Great, we had to hit the class of troublemaking heroes." Spoke a white haired villain, looking at her with almost predatory glowing eyes. "Maybe I'll take your quirk to-" The white haired villain was cut off as Iruma blinked into existence, hitting a barrier that formed behind the villain. "Persistent little bastard aren't you?"

"Yeah, after punching my parents in the face from what you showed me, I'm more determined than ever to kick your butts!"

"Alright, that was my one shot, I believe you're up Nine!" The now muscled demon shouted, jumping back.

"Fine fine …" Nine raised his hand … as nothing happened. He attempted to hide his wince, but failed.

"Come on Dodger, he's dying. If we keep it up, he'll keel over dead soon." Bakugo readied to blast himself ahead.

"I'll provide support." She began to form something that would hopefully interfere with the electromagnetic quirk. Likely what was jamming the signals in the first place.

"Guys, something's wrong." Iruma spoke, tensing. "Cookbook is screaming at me that every direction is bad. Something very dangerous is happening." He looked almost scared. That alone was a concerning thought.

"That would be my original quirk." Nine muttered as the storm seemed to get worse. "The one that hurts my body and degrades my cells … I call it Weather Manipulation." Thunder roared loudly. "Tell me, has anyone here ever managed to dodge something that moves as fast as lightning?"

"Once." Iruma replied, because of course he would. "Was more luck than ability."

"Then let's cut off that escape." The demon villain raised his hands, with Iruma and Bakugo pulled into each other … as they were struck with a power that far exceeded anything Kaminari could hope to generate.

BANG

The screams were of agony, the flash alone nearly blinding her. A few seconds after it died down, she looked at the fallen bodies of her partners, the class' strongest fighters, unconscious on the ground.

"King Explosion Murder!" "Kettei!" The kids that were now hiding behind her cried out.

"I'll be taking tha-" The villain cut off, coughing as he hit the ground, his purple tubes glowing and bubbling. "Limit hit … Ten."

"With pleasure." He began walking over to them. The lightning strike used up all the static that had been building, there was no static to manipulate so it was now or never.

"Plus Ultra: Die!" She threw out as many grenades, dynamite, and plastique as she could make right towards them. "Hurry, we have to leave now, before they get up!" She gestured towards the kids.

"What about them!?" The boy pointed to her fallen allies.

"I've got them!" Shoji grabbed the two. "We need to leave now, just run!" With that, 1-A ran, losing once more to villains they were unprepared for … and she could barely do a thing.
