Atop the massive skeleton of a demon, Adam and the church members held a brief gathering before quickly bringing Princia to the site.
After hearing what the wounded soldier had said, Adam knew something big was coming. He needed to resurrect Lemiel—the First Wizard King—immediately. Having him as an ally could shift everything.
"In the name of the Human Emperor, I grant you new life—my most loyal warrior, Lemiel!" Adam declared dramatically.
"Childish," Princia muttered under her breath, glancing at him. But since they were so close, Adam clearly heard it.
He grinned. "A man remains a boy until he dies."
Touching the Human Emperor Sword to Lemiel's stone statue, Adam unleashed a dazzling burst of golden light.
Cracks spread across the statue's surface before chunks of stone fell away—revealing the man beneath.
Lemiel's eyes opened.
"What's happening…?" He looked down at his hands in disbelief. This wasn't some artificial revival through magic stones—it was a true resurrection.
The feeling of life coursing through him again was almost too much to process.
It's great to be alive.
"Your Excellency, the First Wizard King," Adam said with a grin. "From today on, you're my little brother."
"Eh…?" Lemiel blinked, utterly confused.
Adam only laughed, beaming with pride. With a powerhouse like Lemiel by his side, the road ahead seemed much brighter.
Just then, a glowing communication screen appeared. Marx's face appeared within, his expression frantic.
"Adam! Adam!" he cried. "Thank goodness I found you!"
"What's wrong, Marx?" Adam asked, raising a brow.
Why does this mushroom-headed guy look like he's been deep-fried?
"The Wizard King is missing! Captain Yami and Captain William have been captured by the Spade Kingdom! Captains Nozel and Fuegoleon are both seriously injured and unconscious—you must return to the capital immediately!"
In a few tense sentences, Marx summarized everything that had happened.
"I... I understand," Adam said as the light faded.
His mind reeled. I leave for a few days and my entire house gets robbed?!
"Let's move. Now."
"Yes!" Lemiel shouted enthusiastically.
The First Wizard King—who had never once been anyone's "younger brother"—actually looked excited for the first time in centuries.
Princia silently nodded, and the three of them set out at full speed toward the royal capital.
Not long after, two shadowy figures stepped across the Clover Kingdom's border.
"It still hasn't changed," Conrad sighed, looking around with cold eyes.
"It won't," Jester replied lazily. "Those high-ranking nobles probably want it to stay this way."
"I can't wait to burn this kingdom to the ground," Conrad muttered darkly. Without the Imperial Sword, his mind had grown even more unhinged.
Spade Kingdom.
Vanica stumbled back into the fortress in a panic—her arrogance completely gone.
"Prepare to begin," Zenon commanded coldly.
He placed Yami and William at the center of the ritual site. Then, he, Vanica, and Dante each took positions at the three points of a massive triangle-shaped formation.
"The ceremony begins," all three said in unison.
The Tree of Qliphoth began absorbing magic from Yami and William, while the three devils funneled their own mana to accelerate the ritual.
"Time Magic: Chrono Acceleration!" Lucius chanted, his grimoire glowing and pages fluttering rapidly.
The light-blue aura of time magic began to pulse around them.
What should have taken three days would now be complete in only three hours.
"Once those fools arrive and Lucifero manifests, it'll be my turn," Lucius murmured.
He was ready to forcibly rewrite fate itself—and seize the ultimate victory for himself.
But something unexpected stirred within him.
"Still resisting…?" he muttered.
It was Julius. Despite being overpowered, the former Wizard King's consciousness was still fighting back inside Lucius's mind.
Lucius frowned. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."
Wizard King's Palace – Meeting Hall.
Inside, five Magic Knight Captains—Jack, Dorothy, Charlotte, Kaiser, and Rill—were already assembled, along with Yuno and Marx.
With a loud bang, Mereoleona kicked the door open. Her expression was pure fury.
"Why the hell are you all standing around?! We're going to the Spade Kingdom to take back our people and make those bastards pay!"
"Heh-heh, now that's what I like to hear," Jack said with a grin, cracking his neck. He'd wanted to go for hours but had been restrained by the overly cautious mushroom-head.
"Captain Mereoleona, Captain Jack, please—wait!" Marx pleaded. "Adam will arrive soon. Once he's here, we can—"
CRASH! Mereoleona's fist smashed through the wall, sending dust flying.
"Wait until he comes back? The cucumber dishes will be cold by then!"
The truth was, she had intended to wait for Adam—but seeing her brother Fuegoleon gravely injured had broken her patience.
The Clover Kingdom had never suffered such humiliation. The enemy had invaded, escaped unharmed, and even taken captains prisoner.
And the Magic Knights were still sitting around planning?
By the time they reached the Spade Kingdom, Yami and William might already be dead.
"I agree with Lady Mereoleona," Charlotte said, rising sharply. "We have to act now. Yami's life is at stake!"
"I'm in too," Jack said, slamming his fist into his palm.
Several other captains—and even Yuno—stood up in support.
Marx was on the verge of tears. If all of our strongest fighters charge off now and the Spade Kingdom attacks the capital, we're screwed!
"Everyone, please, listen to me—"
"Move out!" Mereoleona roared, ready to lead them herself.
Before she could take a step, a blinding beam of light sliced through the air, shattering the window.
A massive glowing sword embedded itself in the floor as three figures appeared—descending from the sky in a flash.
"Don't be so impatient," Adam said as he leapt off the blade. "I'm here now."
Lemiel's Light Magic was unbelievably fast—it had brought them from Hage to the capital in mere moments.
"Th-the First Wizard King?!" Yuno exclaimed, eyes wide. The others turned to stare, disbelief written all over their faces.
"How… how is this possible?" Kaiser whispered. "The First Wizard King is alive again…"
Mereoleona's sharp eyes shifted to the woman behind Adam. There was something familiar about her… but she couldn't quite place it.
"Come out, my friend," Adam said suddenly.
Everyone blinked, confused. Before anyone could ask, a dark shadow rose from the floor.
The captains immediately flared their mana in alarm—ready to fight.
"Everyone, calm down," Adam said casually. "Can't you see the Black Bull insignia on his cloak?"
He gestured toward the newcomer's cape.
Figures. Yami must've recruited him himself, Adam thought. That smug look says it all.
"There are still some smart people," the man said coolly. "I'm Nacht—Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls."
Nacht's aura was cold, his presence unsettling. But Adam sensed no hostility—only quiet strength.
"You've been hiding in this room," Adam said. "Is something wrong?"
"I was originally looking for the Wizard King," Nacht replied evenly. "But I couldn't find him."
His expression didn't change as he continued, "I just returned from the Spade Kingdom. I managed to seriously injure one of their devil hosts."
"What?" everyone exclaimed in shock.
Invisible confidence, Adam thought with a smirk. That's the deadliest kind.
