Chapter 278 - Eerie

He didn't dwell on this issue, simply moving his thoughts to enter the Main God Space...

He returned to this empty white space where only the white sphere and doors existed.

"Main God, enter the second-stage Reincarnator team."

Lexon didn't stay long, letting the Main God randomly assign him to an appropriate team.

[Second-stage Reincarnator 'Lexon', your team will be... 'Jeju Team Two']

The cold mechanical voice of the Main God echoed in his mind, and in the next moment, the scene Lexon was in shifted abruptly.

It was still the familiar white space with the Main God's light sphere...

However, this space was no longer empty; it was filled with various luxury items.

Expensive-looking artifacts and diamond-studded sofas were scattered about...

While luxurious, the arrangement was somewhat cluttered.

It had the distinct feel of a nouveau riche's home.

Lexon didn't pay much attention to it. He didn't care about the teammates' personalities reflected in the layout, nor did he plan to communicate with his second-stage teammates. He only came here because he wanted to know the team's name to tell the Crane Lady.

"Newbie?" As Lexon was preparing to leave the Main God Space, one of the doors suddenly opened, and a shadowy, sinister voice drifted out.

Then, a gaunt face with soulless eyes poked out from the half-open door.

'Are they the other members of Jeju Team Two?'

Lexon thought to himself as he looked at the person.

'But their condition seems a bit off.'

'Despite being second-stage Reincarnators, they look so lifeless...'

'Does their ability involve this? Or is it a side effect?'

He speculated briefly.

"Yeah," Lexon replied.

"A newbie after all..." The voice from the head was sinister and incredibly weak, sounding like someone on the brink of death.

"What's wrong with you?" Lexon asked.

Because the Main God's rooms have special aura isolation, he couldn't use perception to probe the person. To satisfy his curiosity, he had to ask.

"Ru... Run..." Facing Lexon's question, the head's eyes suddenly widened. His gaunt face filled with excitement as he repeated a single word.

"Run what?" Lexon was confused.

"Run... Run... Run away!!" The head finally choked out the full warning, screaming it at the top of his lungs.

As soon as he spoke, a scarred, greenish-black arm suddenly reached out from behind the head. Its five fingers spread wide and grabbed the man's face, violently dragging him back inside.

The door was pulled along with him, closing with a thunderous bang.

With the door shut, silence returned to the Main God Space.

Only Lexon remained, staring at the door in deep thought.

'So what was that about?'

Lexon felt that this Jeju Team Two was strangely eerie.

[Since Jeju Team Two has only one Reincarnator left, Reincarnator 'Lexon' automatically becomes the leader of Jeju Team Two]

"Hm?"

After hearing the Main God's announcement, Lexon was even more confused.

'How did this second-stage team I randomly joined suddenly end up with just me?'

'And I'm the leader now?'

It was honestly a bit ridiculous.

No... that's not right.

Lexon suddenly sensed something was wrong.

'If that guy was the last Reincarnator of this team... and he was just killed...'

'Then... what was that scarred, greenish-black arm?'

A question surfaced in Lexon's heart.

'Speaking of which... the things I've encountered in the Main God Space seem much more frequent than other Reincarnators...'

'The veterans of Central State Team Four encountered the final boss in the Demon Slayer world and almost all of them wiped out...'

'In the Naruto world, I encountered a fourth-stage Reincarnator who smuggled in using special authority. If not for my Gedo: Art of the Rinne Rebirth, all the Reincarnators on my side would have died...'

'Now that I've been promoted to the second stage, I randomly joined a dead team and became the leader without even trying...'

'My luck is a bit poor...'

"Hm?"

'It doesn't seem like my luck is bad... it's the Reincarnators on my team who are cursed.'

Lexon suddenly realized.

'But this feels quite interesting.'

Amidst this sudden eeriness, this was actually what crossed his mind.

Immediately, he used chakra to create a Wood Clone and sent it toward that door.

Since all other Reincarnators were dead, the twenty rooms in the space were now ownerless.

He, the only remaining member, could enter and exit them at will.

The Wood Clone approached the door where the incident happened, while Lexon's main body stood where he could see the interior, watching from a distance.

The Wood Clone's hand reached for the door.

Normally, if a room's owner is dead, any other Reincarnator can take control of the room's settings by touching the door.

However...

That didn't happen this time...

'Even a clone should represent the main Reincarnator...'

Following Lexon's command, the Wood Clone turned the handle to open the door.

Just as the door was opened by the Wood Clone...

That scarred, greenish-black arm lunged from the opening, reaching for the clone's body.

But Lexon's Wood Clone was no pushover.

Previously, a single Wood Clone was an existence that could contend with four fourth-stage Reincarnators.

Naturally, it wouldn't be caught easily by a mere arm.

Moving like a blur, it easily dodged the arm's grasp.

"Almighty Push," the Wood Clone whispered, his eyes instantly transforming into purple ripples.

The ocular power surged out.

In an instant, the greenish-black arm was crushed as if by a hydraulic press, its flesh and bone reduced to molecules in the air.

It had to be said that the Main God's creations were durable; the door wasn't damaged in the slightest despite being hit by Six Paths-level ocular power at such close range.

But before the Wood Clone could react, hundreds of arms burst from the darkness inside the room, moving much faster than the first one!

They seized the Wood Clone and dragged it into the pitch-black void within the door.

With a bang, the door slammed shut once again.

"Interesting..."

An intrigued smile played on Lexon's lips.

He had intentionally let the Wood Clone be taken without resisting.

But the moment the clone was pulled into that darkness, the connection to the main body was completely severed.

This was something Lexon had not expected.

"So what on earth is that thing?"

Lexon's curiosity grew.

Why could that thing stay in the Main God Space? Why didn't the Main God react at all even when it was killing Reincarnators?

"Hm?"

Another thought occurred to Lexon.

"Could it be... that the Main God sent me here to deal with this?"

"Just to make me work for free?"
