Chapter 618: Black Adam and Shazam
Reunion and Vendetta
Let's go back two hours.
In the Graveyard chamber, as the dust settled, Teth-Adam slowly found himself emerging from his confusion.
He recalled his name, his past, and that unforgettable, agonizing memory.
"Shazam!"
A name surfaced, followed by that cold, emotionless face.
"You must be alive for me," Teth-Adam muttered under his breath, his eyes filled with grim fury. He would absolutely not forget the hatred from his thousand-year sealing. And Isis...
The thought of his former lover softened the aggression, and a hint of tenderness entered his eyes.
Just then, a moan came. The bald doctor, Sivana, who was lying unconscious on the ground, opened his eyes. His head hurt agonizingly, as if it were splitting open. He touched his head with his right hand.
Blood!
So much blood!
"My eye!"
Sivana's face twisted in terror. He cautiously felt around. His palm was sticky with blood. A snake-like scar ran over his eye socket, from top to bottom, nearly splitting his eyeball.
His right eye was blind!
Sivana was shocked and terrified. He quickly looked up at the strong man in front of him.
"Help me, please."
Seeing that the other man didn't understand English, he quickly switched to the Ancient Egyptian language.
"I can't see! Please, heal it! Heal my eye!"
Teth-Adam said coolly, "You are the one who pushed open this coffin."
Sivana nodded rapidly, speaking urgently. "I came here specifically to save you! Do you remember Kahndaq? The slaves you saved? Their descendants have been waiting for your return to rebuild the nation!"
Kahndaq!
The name made Teth-Adam momentarily lost in thought. Images buried deep in his mind quietly surfaced: friends, comrades, the people of Kahndaq who supported him, believed in him, and were willing to die for him.
He and the liberated slaves had founded the Kingdom of Kahndaq, only to be betrayed by Shazam on their path to greatness. He wondered what had become of those people.
His expression grew anxious.
"What era is it now? Does Kahndaq still exist?"
The Deal
A few minutes later, Teth-Adam stood numbly after listening to Sivana's account. He thought only a thousand years had passed; he didn't realize it had been five thousand.
He had been sealed for a full five millennia.
Shazam, you truly deserve to die!
Teth-Adam clenched his fists. It took him a moment to calm down.
"The people of Kahndaq have been in exile?"
"Yes. For thousands of years, they have tried to rebuild the Kingdom of Kahndaq, but they always fail."
Sivana clutched his right eye, pleading, "Your Majesty, could you please help me? My eye is failing, and the pain is terrible."
"Your eye cannot be healed," Teth-Adam looked at him expressionlessly. He paused, then continued amidst Sivana's despair.
"However, I can give you new eyes, eyes with powerful magic, on the condition that you swear fealty to me."
Sivana dropped to his knees without hesitation.
"Great King of Kahndaq, Slave Hero, possessor of the power of the six Gods! From this moment forth, Thaddeus Sivana is your most loyal servant, for all eternity, never to betray you."
"I accept your fealty."
Teth-Adam looked at him deeply. He raised a finger, and the Power of Mehen was infused into Sivana's body. The wound on his eye socket quickly healed, and the pain subsided, but his eyesight did not return.
"Follow me."
The two left the graveyard. They paused as they passed the Colosseum. Teth-Adam concentrated, and sensing the energy fluctuations inside, he asked,
"Who is in there?"
"The light barrier is blocking it. I can't see clearly."
Teth-Adam used his divine power to create an illusion that showed the scene inside the Colosseum.
"It's them!"
Sivana's eyes widened in disbelief. "Superman, the Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman! How could they be here?"
Superman? Martian Manhunter? Wonder Woman?
Teth-Adam was utterly confused.
"Who are they?"
"The six superheroes who saved the world: Superman, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and a very mysterious person. They are famous, they protected the Earth from being destroyed by aliens."
Oh?
Teth-Adam raised an eyebrow, curious. After observing them for a few moments, his curiosity turned into seriousness.
Such strong combat power. Their strength, speed, and defense were all at the divine level, comparable to his own.
"What civilization are they from? Which Gods are they?"
Sivana: "..."
He didn't react immediately. After a few seconds, he explained,
"The Gods are gone from Earth now. Superman and Wonder Woman are from Krypton—they are aliens. The Martian Manhunter is also an alien. The remaining three are from Earth, but none of them are Gods."
Teth-Adam realized something. He said nothing and turned to leave.
Sivana followed closely, saying cautiously,
"Your Majesty, a thousand years have passed, and many things have changed. You may need some time to adjust."
Confrontation in the Hall
The two proceeded one after the other, taking the tower to the Second Layer and then heading straight for the Council Hall on the First Layer.
Shazam was there. White-haired, hunched over, he looked like an old man nearing the end of his life, with one foot already in the grave. His body was so weak he couldn't even speak. Even with Black Adam appearing before him, he showed no reaction.
The father-in-law and son-in-law met again after millennia. The hall's lighting was dim, faintly illuminating two completely different faces: one was menacing and fierce, radiating the aggression of a thousand-year sealing, and the other was calm, his eyes complex, carrying a touch of melancholy.
"You are dying," Teth-Adam finally managed to force out, restraining his rage.
Shazam sighed faintly, a hint of relief in his expression. If Teth-Adam had been sealed for a thousand years, Shazam himself had been sitting alone in the desolate Rock of Eternity for five millennia.
"Originally, I intended to kill you the moment I saw you. Not anymore."
"A dried-up husk is not worthy of my effort."
Teth-Adam held out his hand. "Give me the amulet."
Shazam opened his mouth and said with all his remaining strength, "Isis is dead."
"She is not dead. She is merely in the cycle of reincarnation. I promised her that I would find her, awaken her true spirit. Give me the amulet."
Shazam silently shook his head.
Teth-Adam exploded in fury. He charged forward, grabbed Shazam by the throat, lifted him high, and slammed him into the ground.
Bang!
The floor shook. Teth-Adam's angry strike nearly destroyed the hall. A shockwave rippled outwards, startling Sivana, who quickly backed away.
"Last chance! Give me the amulet! Or I will destroy the Rock of Eternity and unleash the monsters, evil gods, demons, and angels sealed within, letting them destroy the world! Believe me, I will keep my word!"
Shazam said nothing, only shaking his head weakly.
Teth-Adam's killing intent flared. He was about to strike again when he suddenly noticed something. Pushing aside the wizard's wild, overgrown beard, he found a necklace with a goddess sculpture on it—the amulet.
"So you were wearing it all along."
Teth-Adam's rage turned to delight. He ripped the amulet off, felt the magical energy inside, and smiled with a child-like joy.
"I knew it, Isis. You have been alive all this time."
