Chapter 617: Black Adam is Unleashed

Sivana Defies the Curse

The four Anubis sculptures were placed at the four corners of the sarcophagus. According to the funeral traditions of Ancient Egypt, this was an extremely malicious curse, signifying a person rejected even by death.

Sivana felt an inexplicable unease. Decades of tomb raiding had given him an uncanny intuition; whenever he felt something was wrong, something terrible always happened.

He circled the altar, checking it over and over, finally discovering the poison gas pipes—a common trap in ancient tombs—hidden beneath the statues.

After disabling the physical trap, his unease didn't dissipate; instead, it intensified.

Sivana quickly retreated, stopping only at the exit. He looked at the sarcophagus nearby, his expression deeply conflicted.

If he guessed correctly, the altar must be hiding some kind of magical trap that would likely kill him if triggered. Yet, he couldn't bear to give up. After repeated deliberation, he gritted his teeth, pulled out a rubber explosive, and placed one on each of the statues and the sarcophagus.

For a top-tier tomb raider, using explosives to open a coffin was a low-class tactic, a desecration of the entire profession.

Unfortunately, he couldn't think of any other way.

After setting the bombs, he immediately left the chamber. Thirty seconds later, a muffled sound came from below, followed by a flame explosion and the crackling sound of electricity.

The doorway flashed with various lights. Energy raged inside, and even from a distance, he could feel the wave of destructive power.

Sivana's mouth twitched violently.

"Damn traps! Damn magic!"

The turmoil lasted for over ten seconds before settling down. Once everything was quiet, Sivana re-entered the chamber. The statues were destroyed by the bombs, but the sarcophagus was completely intact. The flames and lightning seemed to have had no effect on it.

Sivana took a deep breath, approached the altar, and observed it again, this time more thoroughly, scrutinizing every detail.

After confirming there were no other traps, he put on a gas mask, gripped the edge of the coffin lid, and slowly pushed. Even using all his strength, he only managed to move it a few centimeters.

"This thing is too heavy."

Sivana was panting heavily. After resting for a while, he pushed again. Ten minutes later, a gap finally appeared. Air rushed into the coffin through the slit, and the heavy stone lid seemed to lighten considerably.

Sivana exerted a sudden force and pushed the coffin lid aside. He held up his torch to examine the contents.

No gold, no jewels, no jade, no ornaments.

The massive stone coffin contained only one mummy wrapped in bandages, which were covered with dense, dizzying characters.

"This is Teth-Adam?"

"The Slave Hero, King of Kahndaq, the legendary figure with the power of six Gods."

Sivana felt a surge of nervousness. He quickly put down the torch, bowed respectfully, and took out his phone to take pictures. The characters on the bandages were likely some form of sealing magic. Before destroying it, it was essential to record it—that's how professional a top-tier tomb raider was.

After dozens of photos, Sivana stopped. He pulled out his personal dagger and carefully began to slice the bandage. The moment the dagger's tip touched the linen:

Boom!

A thunderbolt dropped from the void, striking him heavily.

Sivana collapsed instantly, without even time to scream.

The characters on the bandage seemed to come alive, moving quickly like tadpoles. Suddenly, a roar came from inside. The bandage swelled up in places—one spot, two spots—as if something was trying to burst out.

The characters emitted a dark light, struggling to resist. After two minutes of fierce contest:

Bang!

The bandages exploded. A bald, giant man, over 1.9 meters tall and incredibly strong, burst out.

Teth-Adam, the Slave Hero, King of Kahndaq, the powerhouse with the legacy of the six Gods, had finally awakened after thousands of years.

The Guardian of the Arena

In the Giant Colosseum on the Rock of Eternity's Third Layer.

With the four-winged Angel Galileus defeated, the battle entered another dimension.

Previously, their opponents were various non-human monsters. Now, they were facing Demons and Angels.

Nine different-sized Demon sculptures appeared before them, countered by seven Angel sculptures: four with two wings, two with four wings, and the remaining one possessing an awe-inspiring three pairs of wings (Six-Winged Seraph).

J'onn whispered, "What does a Six-Winged Angel represent?"

Diana drew her sword.

"Six wings are the maximum an Angel can have."

Clark was silent, his expression subdued.

The Rock of Eternity was highly suitable to be the Justice League's secret base, but it wasn't essential. There was no need to fight these Angels and Demons, whose origins were completely unclear, just for it.

It wasn't worth it.

J'onn sighed softly.

"Continuing like this is unsustainable. The abilities of these Angels and Demons are still unknown. What if we encounter something that counters us..."

He didn't finish the sentence, but Diana understood. Both Clark and J'onn were considering retreat; they didn't want to fight for the Rock of Eternity.

Truthfully, she felt the same way, but the thought of Luke's instructions made her forcibly restrain herself.

The sculptures began to resurrect. Strong light poured out of one side, dazzlingly bright, while the other side spewed molten rock, the heat intensely oppressive.

Seven Angels, nine Demons—a total of sixteen enemies. This meant the three heroes would have to win a minimum of one-versus-five battles.

Diana exhaled softly. After a moment of thought, she spoke.

"What do we do?"

Clark and J'onn froze simultaneously, turning to look at her.

"You..."

Diana sighed. "Though I'm warlike, I'm not so foolish as to miss the situation. A Six-Winged Angel has appeared. Next, we might face beings that transcend the Gods. If this were to protect Earth, I'd willingly fight them, but it isn't."

"The Rock of Eternity is good, but it's not worth sacrificing our lives."

"What about Luke's side?"

"He will understand."

Hearing this, Clark and J'onn finally felt relieved.

The three quickly retreated. When they reached the exit, a shadow suddenly appeared before them. The towering body was impossibly strong, every muscle containing explosive power. Just standing there gave a powerful visual impact.

The newcomer had a cold face, an unyielding gaze, and electricity flashed in his eyes. An invisible pressure emanated from him, like a triumphant warrior and a controlling deity rolled into one.

Diana's expression tightened. She instinctively gripped her sword hilt.

"Who are you?"

"Teth-Adam, King of Kahndaq."

His English was fluent but sounded unfamiliar, though the grammar was correct.

"..."

Question marks appeared in Clark's and J'onn's eyes. Was there a King of Kahndaq?

Diana remembered something, and her expression became extremely serious.

"You are the King of Kahndaq from the Nineteenth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, the era of Ramesses II?"

A flicker of surprise crossed Teth-Adam's eyes.

"I am surprised someone still remembers me." When his eyes scanned the longsword in her hand, he frowned slightly. "The Sword of Hephaestus, a weapon of the Olympian Gods. How did it come to be in your possession?"

"That is none of your concern."

"We are leaving the Colosseum. You had best not block our way."

Diana spoke while signaling to Clark and J'onn. The three tried to bypass Teth-Adam and exit the magical barrier. Yet, the moment they stepped out, they were instantly returned.

Teth-Adam said gravely,

"Did Shazam not tell you the rules of the Colosseum? Once the sculptures are activated, they must be killed, or you cannot leave."
