"Lei Hong? I'll remember that."
Bucky muttered to the empty air in front of him.
He turned to examine the villa. It had a modern but familiar style, not too far from his era.
That sense of familiarity was almost surreal.
He remembered the "high-tech" nonsense Leo — had mentioned and couldn't help but feel a little foolish for believing it.
"Forget it. Everyone has secrets. If he doesn't say, there must be a reason," Bucky muttered to himself, taking a deep breath to calm his pained expression.
Ding-dong! Ding-dong!
Bucky stepped forward, pressing the doorbell. His heart raced with anticipation.
He had thought his capture meant death, yet here he was, potentially seeing his brother again after all these years.
The door opened, and Sharon Carter appeared. She froze, looking at the man in front of her — bruised, bloodied, ragged.
Terrorist? Gang revenge? On the run? Her mind spun with possibilities.
"What's going on with you? Are you being chased?" she asked, confused.
Chased? Bucky glanced down and realized she wasn't wrong.
His torn clothes, blood, and disheveled hair made him look like a man fleeing for his life.
But now was not the time to dwell on appearances.
"Excuse me, is this Steve Rogers's house? I'm looking for him," Bucky asked.
"Steve Rogers?"
"Yes."
"I'm… sorry. This is my Aunt Peggy Carter's house, but Steve is also here."
Bucky's heart leapt. Peggy Carter? And Steve is here? He remembered the old days and smiled through his pain.
Sharon studied him closely, her eyes wide in disbelief.
"Bucky Barnes… of the Howling Commandos? Captain America Steve's closest comrade?"
She quickly ushered him inside.
"Steve? Steve! Aunt Peggy? Come quickly! Something big has happened!" Sharon called as she ran.
Peggy, still able to move with her usual poise, and Steve, leaning on his cane, arrived just moments later.
The moment their eyes met — Bucky's, Steve's, and Peggy's — time seemed to stand still.
Everything had changed, yet here they were. This reunion felt like a miracle.
"Steve! Peggy!" Bucky's voice trembled, tears welling up as he shook violently, overcome with emotion.
"Bucky!"
"Bucky!"
Steve and Peggy's hands flew to their mouths, eyes wide with tears.
"It's so good to see you! I thought I'd never have this chance again! My brother, Steve!" Bucky sobbed, embracing Steve tightly.
Steve couldn't hold back either. Tears streamed down his face as he clutched Bucky, unable to contain his joy.
Peggy watched them, genuinely happy. Time had taken its toll on everyone else, yet here they were — united again.
After a few moments, Steve spoke softly, voice heavy with emotion, "Bucky… you must have suffered greatly."
Bucky's tears returned instantly. This simple acknowledgment from his closest brother meant everything.
"It's okay. I'm still alive, aren't I?" he said, trying to comfort Steve.
But then he extended his left hand… only to realize his sleeve was tattered, his arm bleeding heavily.
Bucky's eyes widened.
Steve's gaze immediately fixed on the injury. His expression shifted from sorrow to uncontainable fury.
"No! No! No!"
His blood boiled. "Who… who did this? I'll kill him! I'll kill him!"
"Ah! I must kill him! Kill him!"
Steve's eyes turned blood-red, the rage overwhelming his reason.
His brother had been hurt so severely, and he would not forgive it.
Steve had never felt such hatred. Such killing intent. Nothing else mattered — only retribution.
