Everyone held their breath, afraid of missing a single moment of his actions.
Leo, hovering proudly in the air, immediately sensed the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, through Telepathy.
Bucky clung desperately to a concrete pillar, his expression bewildered.
This guy's reaction was fast.
He had felt himself soaring, grabbed the nearest pillar, and guessed he was about to fall — though he had no idea what was happening.
To lift a whole Base, mountain and all, into the sky — that's beyond human. Bucky immediately ruled out government involvement.
Leo laughed at Bucky's confused stare. Is this really the Winter Soldier, the obedient soldier with no free will?
With a whoosh, Leo reappeared above the Base.
A magnetic storm erupted from his palms, swirling around the Base and pulling it fiercely upward.
Then the entire Base exploded into view.
Broken equipment, scattered weapons, ammunition, and supplies — this was practically a small city.
HYDRA's patience was terrifying. Like venomous snakes lurking in the shadows, they had perfected the art of hiding in plain sight.
Everyone watching shared the same emotion: awe mixed with fear.
Leo teleported directly to Bucky's side. His mission for this trip was complete.
"Hey, Bucky. Come with me. I'll take you to see your old friend, Steve Rogers," Leo said with a smile.
Bucky didn't respond verbally. He swung a punch — quiet, ruthless, and deadly. His bionic arm packed four tons of force.
Thud!
It slammed against an invisible wall, ineffective.
"Hehe… disobedient, huh? Politeness wasted. Then let's do it the obedient way."
Bucky raised his arm again, but it twisted violently.
Crack! Crack!
Within three seconds, Bucky roared in agony.
His bionic arm had been twisted and detached, nerve connections tearing painfully.
The pain broke through HYDRA's brainwashing, waking him fully.
"Ah!! It hurts! It hurts!"
"Who am I? Where am I? Who are you?"
Bucky's awareness returned. Memories flooded back: he was Bucky Barnes, captured and experimented on by HYDRA.
"Who… who are you?" he asked, easing his pain slightly.
"You don't need to know. Just know I saved you," Leo said matter-of-factly.
"Your arm is broken. I'll take you to Steve Rogers — he can treat you."
Bucky believed him immediately. He knows Steve, so he must be trustworthy.
Bucky nodded. "Thank you… truly a good person. I… I don't even know how long I've been unconscious."
"Let's go," Leo said generously.
"If I can, I'll repay you later," Bucky murmured, wincing in pain.
He staggered to his feet, tore off his clothes to stop the bleeding, and prepared to follow.
Seeing Leo unmoving, Bucky asked, "Why aren't you leaving? This is HYDRA territory — danger everywhere!"
"I have a better way," Leo replied.
"What?"
A dizzying sensation overwhelmed Bucky. A dazzling blue light flashed, and he suddenly found himself outside a small villa.
Bucky nearly lost it. Have I been unconscious too long? Has technology advanced this far?
He stared at Leo, wide-eyed, tongue-tied. "What… what is this? High-tech?"
"Something like that. Steve is inside," Leo explained.
"Aren't you going in?" Bucky asked.
"No," Leo shook his head.
"Alright… what's your name? Can you tell me?"
Bucky waited.
"Call me… Lei Hong," Leo said.
Then, without a trace, Leo vanished.
