Attack Seal!
The effect of Harmony Shield activates, because Yugen now has the Adjusted Monsters "Scrap Iron Beast" and "Scrap Iron Double-Headed Dog" on the field, so Yugen cannot attack for the next three turns.
Obviously, by now, the strategy of this Yego's Card Deck has become very clear. It's targeted towards Synchro.
After all, this is the Synchro Dimension, and among powerful Duelists, nine out of ten play Synchro.
In this environment, Yego goes against the trend, not using Synchro but instead playing a Synchro-targeting strategy.
In a short turn of setup, he has already implemented both a Synchro Summon Lock and an Attack Lock. In Yugen's view, this is quite a talent for self-isolation.
Many Card Decks that rely on Synchro Summoning have Subordinate Monsters with Attack Power rarely exceeding a thousand. If Synchro is locked, their combat power is greatly reduced. In this environment, Yego's self-isolating Card Deck might be quite powerful.
"Can't summon or attack... Well then, I'll set a Cover Card and end my turn."
Yugen reminds.
"However, at the end phase of this turn, the effect of 'Palace Account Books' on 'Joker King' ends, and the increased Attack Power of Joker King disappears, reverting to its original value."
[Joker King, Attack Power 0]
Seeing his seal taking effect, Yego's confidence grows.
It seems this fake Officer Godwin isn't completely invincible after all.
"Wait for me, wife, son, I'm going to defeat evil now and return to you!"
Yugen remains calm.
He's used to it. He somehow always finds himself standing on the villain's side, while the opponent keeps shouting about friendship and bonds, trying to annihilate him. With so much experience, he's calm now.
"My turn, draw!"
Yego shouts.
"I summon 'Queen of Clowns'!" (Original Card)
[Queen of Clowns, Attack Power 800]
"When the Queen of Clowns is successfully summoned, all cards in your Magic Trap Zone must be destroyed... Well, that's how it should be."
Yego gives a confident smile.
"But I've already activated this card!
Continuous Trap 'Palace Rules'!
As long as this card exists on the field, neither side can destroy Continuous Trap Cards on the field except for 'Palace Rules' itself.
Therefore, the only one destroyed by the Queen of Clowns' effect is the Continuous Trap 'Palace Rules' itself.
'Harmony Shield', 'Palace Account Books', and 'Dissonant Sound' are all protected by Palace Rules and won't be destroyed!"
Yego then inserts another card into his Duel Disc.
"Lastly, the Continuous Magic 'Secret Passage'!
If only monsters with lower Attack Power than your opponent's monsters exist on your field, you can select one of your own monsters, and that monster can directly attack your opponent this turn!" (Original Card)
At this point, Yego only has two monsters on the field. With the Joker King reverting to an Attack Power of 0 in the presence of other monsters, the only choice left is the Queen of Clowns.
Yego: "Selecting Queen of Clowns to gain the ability for direct attacks!"
Yugen: "Oh? What is the ability of Queen of Clowns..."
"Indeed! Queen of Clowns' effect is that this card can attack as many times per turn as the number of cards in your Magic Trap Zone!"
Yugen: "You now have 'Secret Passage', 'Dissonant Sound', 'Harmony Shield', and 'Palace Account Books' in the backfield..."
"Exactly!" Yego boasts, "So Queen of Clowns can attack four times!
Go, Queen of Clowns' direct attack, four consecutive strikes!"
The Queen of Clowns leaps into the air, sending four light balls consecutively. A series of deafening booms erupt, as a towering smoke screen swallows Yugen along with his half of the field.
[Yugen, LP4000→ LP3200→ LP2400→ LP1600→ LP800]
Yugen staggers back two steps, then brushes off the dust on his body.
"Oh dear, is this the power of a man determined to protect his family? Terrifying, I was almost finished off..."
"Indeed, this is my resolve to protect!" Yego says, "No matter what happens, no matter what kind of enemy, I must not be separated from my family!"
"I know I'm a despicable person. To earn money, to survive, I'd give up my dignity, dirty my own hands. Even becoming someone's dog doesn't matter, I'll do anything.
But! Even such a humble person has his limits!"
He clenches his right fist, pounding it against his heart.
"I will never, ever give up on my family! I must protect them to the end!"
Clap clap clap—
Yugen applauds.
"So touching, so incredible." Yugen shakes his head in feigned regret, "It's so moving that I almost feel sorry for having to deal with you."
"Still saying that," Yego grits his teeth, "Even though your Life Points are already flickering like a candle in the wind..."
He shakes his head, saying no more.
"I switch 'Joker King' to Defense Position, and end my turn."
[Joker King, Attack Power 0→ Defense Power 0]
Yugen: "My turn, draw."
Yugen draws, then reveals his hand of cards.
"Activate Magic Card 'Magic Flowerpot', send the Continuous Magic 'Virus Mail' to the graveyard, and draw two cards from the Card Deck."
Yugen draws two cards.
"Speed Attack Magic 'Scrap Iron Shower'."
Yugen reveals one of the cards he drew.
"Send one Scrap Iron from the Card Deck to the graveyard, draw one card from the Card Deck, and destroy one of your own Scrap Iron Monsters on the field."
Yugen reveals a card searched from his Card Deck.
"I'll send 'Scrap Search Bird' from the Card Deck to the graveyard, and destroy my own 'Scrap Iron Beast'."
With a bang, Scrap Iron Beast explodes, and Yugen draws a card.
"Then release 'Scrap Iron Chimera' for an Upper-level Summon!"
Yugen reveals another card in his hand.
"Level five, Scrap Iron Golem!"
[Scrap Iron Golem, Attack Power 2300]
"The effect of Scrap Iron Golem, once per turn, you can choose one Scrap Iron card of level 4 or less from your graveyard to Special Summon on your or your opponent's field.
I'll Special Summon 'Scrap Search Bird' from the graveyard...
...on your field!"
Yego: "???"
What?
Special Summon it on my...?
Huh?
[Scrap Search Bird, Attack Power 100]
Yego stared blankly at the Search Bird, which confidently ran to his field and took a spot, completely bewildered.
Giving me a bird?
"The effect of Scrap Search Bird." Yugen said coolly, "When this card is successfully Special Summoned, all face-up monsters on your side of the field with names not containing 'Scrap Iron' are destroyed!"
Names not containing Scrap Iron...
Yego: "!!!"
What?
I don't have any Scrap Iron monsters on my field!
"Exactly." Yugen smiled, "Therefore, all monsters on your field except Scrap Search Bird are destroyed.
Goodbye, clowns."
Boom boom boom!
A storm of flames swept through, instantly engulfing Yego's Joker King and Queen in a massive fireball, shredding them to pieces.
Yego's eyes widened, his teeth grinding audibly: "Damn it, you actually destroyed my clowns..."
"Don't rush to get angry, it's not over yet."
Yugen smiled and casually waved his hand.
"Next, activate the Cover Card, Trap Card 'Error Rebirth'.
Select a monster from your opponent's graveyard and Special Summon it on their side of the field in face-up Defense Position."
Yego: "?"
What kind of weird card is this?
Special Summon from the opponent's graveyard to their field, giving resources to the opponent?
Playing cards with such politeness feels quite awkward...
At that moment, Yego suddenly thought of something extremely frightening, his pupils contracted, limbs cold, and his eyes widened...
"Oh? You noticed."
Yugen smiled.
"Indeed, the monster I want to summon from your graveyard is your own 'Queen of Clowns'."
[Queen of Clowns, Defense Power 800]
"The effect of Queen of Clowns, when this card is successfully summoned or Special Summoned, all Magic and Trap cards on your field are destroyed!"
Yugen snapped his fingers.
"Say goodbye to your back field too."
"No, don't... ahhh—"
Yego clutched his head, screaming.
But he was already powerless. His backfield of four cards, Palace Account Books, Dissonant Sound, Harmony Shield, Secret Passage, exploded into pieces one by one.
Yego fell to his knees, his face filled with despair.
How... how can this be...
In one turn, just one short turn, he summoned two things on his own field, which blew his seemingly impenetrable front and back fields to smithereens...
The worst part is, one of them was actually his own!
Yego's current mood was like he'd just become the clown himself...
"Finally, the Equipment Magic 'Gigantification' to equip 'Scrap Iron Golem'," Yugen said, "When your Life Points are lower than your opponent's, the equipped monster's attack power doubles.
My Life Points are a flickering 800, so Scrap Iron Golem's Attack Power doubles."
[Scrap Iron Golem, Attack Power 2300 → Attack Power 4600]
"Battle." Yugen said, "Scrap Iron Golem, attack 'Scrap Search Bird'."
[Scrap Search Bird, Attack Power 100]
The Golem launched a devastating punch, its iron fist shattering the Search Bird into pieces with a single blow, and a shock wave with over four thousand damage plowed through Yego.
[Yego, LP4000 → LP0]
Yego tumbled twice, hitting the ground, feeling the world spinning, everything dark before him.
Have I... lost...
The legendary Dark Duel, a duel risking life and death. It was a game he absolutely couldn't lose, he had promised to always stay by his wife and child...
Yego closed his eyes in pain.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault. Daddy has to... go first..."
Then Godwin's icy voice sounded beside him.
"You lost. Sleep for a while, when you wake up, you'll be back in the office of the Public Security Maintenance Bureau. All you'll remember is you worked overnight.
Forget about the duel just now, forget about the virus mail too."
Forget it all...
"Huh?"
Yego suddenly opened his eyes, looking at "Officer Godwin" in astonishment.
"I... don't have to die?"
