The entire next week was spent by Judai at Kaiba Company.
Fortunately, the school year had ended, and the Academy was on break, so no academic progress was hindered. Also, Judai usually preferred staying at the Academy during holidays rather than going home. According to him, his parents were always busy and not at home, so going back would be boring, and he preferred staying at school where he had company.
So whether at the Academy or at Kaiba Company, it wasn't much different.
Kaiba Company had set up a special team to study Judai's new starry sky card deck. They were quite interested in Neos as well, considering setting up a project group in the lab after returning for cooperative development with Kaiba Company.
As the main card deck, Neo had immense development potential and had been reinforced many times over the years. While each reinforcement period was more about entertainment than serious gaming, even as an entertaining deck, the cards were generations beyond others and still held great power in the past.
In theory, the best candidate for studying the New Space series was undoubtedly Judai, whose Destiny Power perfectly matched. But as mentioned before, Judai isn't cut out for research. Instead of having him join Mitsuzawa in the lab, it'd be better to give him more card games.
So the specific matters of New Space research will be postponed.
However, the elves have become quite familiar these past days.
The Black Scorpions stationed around Yugen have even found time to chat with the Cosmic People.
"So, you guys really came from the Cosmos?"
Zik whispered to Brother Dolphin, who was floating behind Judai.
Brother Dolphin smiled kindly, "Yes, we are from New Space."
"Oh. Then it must be far from Earth?" Zik nodded, "Your journey must've taken a long time."
"Not really. We New Space People have mastered quite mature interstellar travel technology." Brother Dolphin was rather talkative.
"...Impressive."
Zik found himself at a loss for words.
After a brief silence, he whispered into Brother Dolphin's ear, "You know, your Monster Effect... it's strong, very unique. But not to brag, your ability could be even more effective in our master's hands, you two are a natural pair..."
"Haha, really? Then we're truly lucky."
Brother Dolphin didn't respond to the attempt to poach him but smiled politely. After all, their bond with Judai is destined, impossible to shift loyalty.
Zik retreated somewhat disappointedly, feeling a sense of regret. Brother Dolphin's remarkably frustrating talents, if only in their master's hands, would bring even more thrills.
What a pity...
On the other hand, the intelligence system of the Dark Web didn't let Yugen down, or rather, didn't let Revolver down.
Yugen found Revolver's charisma was quite commendable, as friends from the Dark Web were so dedicated to helping him, showing a notable influence.
Only the investigation results surprised him.
The Light Association hideout he sought wasn't hidden elsewhere but rather beneath a local Kaiba Company subsidiary building, in an underground facility.
Is this what's called the darkness under the lamp?
Keihei was shocked upon learning this and immediately wanted to send someone to investigate. But Yugen stopped him.
He didn't trust others—whether in loyalty or capability.
Especially considering the chapter on Light of Destruction, Saio and his subordinates showed incredible brainwashing abilities. Their mental manipulation didn't affect the opponent's original mindset but worked as a personality rewrite.
With such abilities, it wouldn't be surprising if their people had infiltrated Kaiba Company.
Having locked onto the address, there was no need for subtle tactics or silent infiltration. Yugen simply knocked on the door directly.
Of course, his knocking might have been a bit too forceful. The door was burst open by a great force, and Yugen entered the underground facility.
With just a glance, he knew he had found the right place.
Complete facilities, lighting so bright it felt unsettling. All rooms were decorated in a pure white style, spotless, making one instinctively feel that stepping inside was to desecrate the environment.
"Hmm. Strange, is there no one at home?"
Black Scorpion leader Zarug looked around, scratching his chin.
"Maybe they just stepped out." Zik said softly.
Yugen slightly furrowed his brows, not speaking. He slowly walked inside, seemingly not sensing the presence of another living being.
"Wait."
Mina suddenly signaled for silence.
"Do you hear anything?"
Yugen stopped his steps. The Black Scorpions also held their breath in concentration.
The air quieted down, the hall was silent enough that a pin drop could be heard, except for faint breathing... and a barely noticeable ticking sound.
Zarug's pupils contracted.
"Bomb!"
"Those despicable people set up... "
Boom!
An explosion.
A scorching wave swept across the room like a surging Fire Dragon, enveloping Yugen in it.
...
...
"Done!"
A shadow across the street from the facility, a small man in white uniform chuckled twice confidently to a beefy man next to him.
"I'm sure that Revolver guy walked right into it, perfect timing!"
The small man spoke excitedly, but the burly man remained expressionless.
"I told you, this kind of thing is much more effective than cards...
...What!?"
He couldn't finish his sentence as he almost bit his tongue.
Because he widened his eyes, seeing that amidst the explosive fiery glow and thick smoke, Revolver, who had clearly walked in, was now slowly emerging from the smoke and fire curtain, walking in their direction.
The flames burned across him without leaving a trace, almost like a Terminator from the movies.
The small man was scared senseless.
Is he Superman already?
Do all you card players ignore logic like this!?
The white-clothed burly man, however, was unfazed, even letting out a cold laugh.
"I knew it. Revolver, if someone of such mediocre traps could handle him, Lord Mizuchi wouldn't have specially arranged for me to deal with him."
"Oh? So you were waiting here specifically for me?" Yugen asked.
"Indeed."
The burly man raised his hand, opened his Duel Disc, and said plainly.
"My name is Rockson, president of a branch of the Light Association. Dare to accept my challenge, Revolver?"
"Interesting. I kind of expected this would eventually be resolved through a duel..."
Yugen smiled, similarly activating his Duel Disc.
"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP 4000]
[Rockson, LP 4000]
"I'll take the first move, without reservation."
Yugen said.
"Draw a card."
Yugen drew his card, glanced at it, and nonchalantly placed the drawn card horizontally on the Duel Disc.
"Face-down Defense Position to set a monster."
The Monster Card's image surfaced on the field as the Duel Disc activated.
"Then set another Cover Card in the backfield, turn over."
He then gestured for a pass.
"Come on. Since you're blocking my way so confidently, show me what makes your duel special."
