Chapter 437: The Cosmic Guardian! Mega Starmie!
Despite the grueling clash, Electivire hadn't quite reached its limit, but it
was certainly feeling the drain. On the other side of the field, Lawson was down
to his final two: his utility Pelipper and his legendary ace, Starmie.
"Go! Pelipper!"
Lawson threw the bird out, but only for a split second to refresh the damp air
before immediately recalling it. Against a monster like Electivire, leaving a
Water/Flying type on the field was essentially assisted suicide.
Kenji took a deep breath, his expression hardening. He knew what was coming.
With the bird back in its ball, there was only one Pokémon left to face. The
crown jewel of the Northwest.
"Rise to the stars! Starmie!"
The Poké Ball burst open in a flash of violet light. Materializing in the center
of the arena was a creature of shimmering lavender and gold. At its center sat a
massive, multifaceted red core that pulsed with a rhythmic, hypnotic light.
Starmie, the Mysterious Pokémon. It was a creature of enigma, long rumored to be
an extraterrestrial immigrant that arrived on Earth via meteors eons ago. In
ancient times, its central core was so prized for its prismatic beauty that it
was hunted as "The Jewel of the Sea" to be gifted to royalty.

Even before the transformation, the pressure radiating from the star was
suffocating. It was a Level 99 veteran, but unlike the others Kenji had faced,
this one felt like it was scratching at the very ceiling of the Master Tier. It
just needed one spark, one moment of enlightenment, to step into the realm of
Level 100.
"Starmie! Mega Evolve!" Lawson roared, pressing the Key Stone set into a heavy
silver ring on his finger. "Unlocking the mysteries of the deep and the void!
Beyond the stars! Mega Evolution!"
A kaleidoscope of light erupted from the star's core, swallowing its form. As
the light expanded and shifted, the silhouette of the Pokémon began to warp.
When the radiance finally faded, Mega Starmie stood in the arena.
The transformation was startlingly humanoid. The radial symmetry of its lower
limbs had been elongated into something resembling powerful legs, while its side
points had stretched into flexible, whip-like arms. The top point had grown into
a sharp, crested crown. The central red gem now sat firmly in the center of its
"chest," pulsing like a glowing heart.
In Kenji's previous world, fans often joked that Starmie was a subtle nod to
Ultraman. Looking at the Mega form, it wasn't a joke anymore—it was a reality.
From its cosmic origins to the "warning light" gem on its chest, Mega Starmie
looked like a galactic guardian ready to defend the Earth.
"QIAAAAA!"
The Pokémon struck a pose, its voice a strange, metallic ringing that echoed
through the valley.

Target: Mega Starmie Gender: None Level: 99 Type: Water / Psychic Ability: Huge
Power (Attack stat is doubled) Potential: S
Before Mega Evolving, Starmie was a premier Special Attacker. But with the Huge
Power ability, it had become a terrifying "Mixed Attacker." Its physical strikes
now carried the weight of a tectonic shift, while its Special Attack remained a
blistering base 130.
"Starmie! Aqua Jet!"
"QIA!"
The cosmic guardian kicked off the ground, a veil of high-pressure water coiling
around its humanoid frame. It moved with the speed of a railgun slug, a blur of
violet light aimed straight for Electivire.
Too fast! Electivire barely had time to raise a Thunder Punch to intercept.
But Mega Starmie didn't collide head-on. It performed a mid-air twist, its long
leg snapping out in a high-kick wreathed in freezing energy.
Liquidation!
THOOM!
Electivire was launched backward, its feet skidding across the arena floor for
meters. Its arm felt numb, the high-voltage fur singed by the sheer physical
pressure of the kick.
Kenji frowned. A single trade, and he already knew: Electivire couldn't win
this.
"Come back, Electivire. You've done more than enough." Kenji recalled the gold
brute and reached for a different ball. "I'm counting on you! Arbok!"
The obsidian serpent slithered onto the field, its scales a deep, matte black
that seemed to absorb the arena's light.
Lawson's eyes widened. He recognized this Arbok. It was the most famous outlier
in the Huaxia League—a creature of unknown mutation that defied the biological
laws of its species.
Kenji's Arbok was a celebrity in the research world. Every laboratory from the
Huaxia League to the global associations had sent Kenji requests for a
"deep-tissue examination" of the serpent. Kenji had ignored every single one.
"HSSSS…"
Arbok reared up, its hooded neck flaring. It looked at the Level 99 Mega Starmie
not with fear, but with a cold, predatory satisfaction. After spending months on
Dragon Island training under the Primal Giant Dragonite, it was itching for a
real test.
"Arbok! Dragon Infusion!"
"SHAAAAA!"
The serpent let out a bone-chilling shriek. The elaborate, terrifying pattern on
its chest began to glow with a violet, draconic light. A massive aura of pure
Dragon energy erupted, swirling around the serpent until it began to physically
warp.
This was Half-Dragonization.
In the past, its Dragon Form was a desperate nuke that drained its life force.
But after its tutelage under the Primal Guardian, Arbok had found a "Golden
Mean"—a stable, sustainable state that granted it God-tier power without the
catastrophic side effects.
It had finally bridged the gap. Arbok was no longer a King-tier Pokémon; it was
now a Level 91 Champion.
The serpent's eyes turned a lethal, glowing crimson.
Whish!
It vanished. Its speed was now on par with the cosmic agent.
Mega Starmie reacted instantly, launching a second Aqua Jet. The two collided in
the center of the field—Starmie's high-kick meeting Arbok's tail.
CLANG!
The sound was like two steel beams slamming together. To Mega Starmie's shock,
its "Huge Power" kick was caught. Arbok's tail coiled around the star's leg like
an obsidian noose.
"SHAAAA!"
Arbok lunged, its jaws unhinging. It ignored the humanoid limbs and aimed
straight for the red gem on the star's chest. In the wild, a Starmie's core was
its only true weakness; if the gem cracked, the creature's legendary
regeneration would fail.
Mega Starmie panicked, raising an arm to block the bite.
CRUNCH!
Arbok's fangs sank deep into the golden "arm." The star let out a pained,
ringing shriek. It countered with a localized burst of high-pressure water,
forcing Arbok to release its grip and slide back.
The star stood its ground, its chest gem pulsing with a frantic light.
Recover!
The bite marks on its arm began to knit back together instantly, but the gem's
light flickered—a sign of the energy it cost to heal such a deep wound.
"Starmie! Psyshock!"
"QIA!"
The guardian struck a pose, and a wave of solidified psychic energy erupted from
its core, screaming toward the serpent. Since Arbok was a Poison-type, the
Psychic-type move was lethally effective.
Arbok didn't flinch. It twisted its body in a serpentine dance, weaving through
the psychic blades as it closed the distance. As it reached the star, it whipped
its body, shedding dozens of its own scales.
Scale Shot!
The obsidian scales flew like a barrage of black diamond daggers, whistling
through the air. Arbok's speed spiked even higher as it shed its heavy armor,
its eyes locked onto the "Ultraman" in front of it. The real fight was just
getting started.
