Chapter 357: The Grand Final!!! (Part 1)

The moment Drapion turned its head, Beedrill's silhouette materialized directly in front of its face. Its twin lances were held together, acting as a single, focused point of impact as it slammed into the scorpion's armored chest.

KRA-KOOM!!!! —

Drapion's massive body was launched backward like a projectile fired from a railgun.

THUD!!!!! —

It traveled half the length of the arena before its back slammed into the energy barrier, causing the entire protective dome to shudder violently.

Silence.

The hundred thousand spectators sat in absolute, stunned silence, staring at the cratered earth where the scorpion lay.

Throughout her run in the tournament, Elder Venom (Grandma Liu) had used this Drapion several times. Every single time, it had been an unstoppable engine of destruction, even achieving a legendary 1v6 sweep against the Top 3 seed, Li Songnian, and his Mega Alakazam.

Yet, this monstrous Champion-tier predator had just been one-shot by a bug.

"This Beedrill... why do I feel like it's actually more dangerous than Darkrai??!"

A spectator gulped, his voice trembling as he whispered the unthinkable.

This time, no one argued with him. Every gaze was fixed on the golden insect hovering in the center of the field.

Beedrill still hadn't Mega Evolved. If it was already this fast and this lethal in its base form, what would happen once it triggered the stone around its neck? Its Speed stat would hit levels that shouldn't exist in Pokémon biology.

"Is that really a Beedrill???!"

On the high platform, Yuna Su (Southwest Elite) looked like she had seen a ghost. "That movement speed... it's starting to approach the baseline of the Champion's Blaziken!!!"

The other Elite Four members remained silent, their expressions grim.

Zhurong Yun's Blaziken was a Master-rank deity, Level 100 and blessed by Ho-Oh itself. It was the gold standard for speed in all of Huaxia. For a common forest insect to be mentioned in the same breath was a biological impossibility.

But the evidence was lying unconscious against the barrier.

"Drapion is unable to battle!! Beedrill wins the round!!!"

Under the weight of a single strike, Drapion had been completely deleted. It lay limp on the sand, its armored eyes dark.

Grandma Liu showed no frustration. She slowly raised her ball and recalled her partner.

"Go, Muk!!!"

"Mu-kuhhh..."

A beam of red light hit the floor, spreading out into a pool of deep purple, viscous sludge.

Muk, the Sludge Pokémon. In the anime of Kenji's past life, Ash's Muk was known for its affectionate, clingy personality, making it a fan favorite. But in this real world, Muk was arguably the most loathed Pokémon in existence.

Unlike most species that preferred the wilderness, Muk thrived in the underbelly of human civilization—sewers, industrial waste dumps, and toxic landfills.

They weren't naturally aggressive, and human injury cases were rare as long as they were left alone. But the biological hazard they posed was astronomical. The stench they emitted could paralyze a human, and their sludge was a cocktail of lethal toxins.

In this world, where people didn't have the "Super-Human" constitution of Ash Ketchum, an accidental encounter with a Muk's waste was a death sentence. Ancient plagues had been traced back to sewer outbreaks of this species. Consequently, the League spent millions every year hiring specialized trainers to "clear" urban Muk populations.

"Mu-kuhhh..."

Grandma Liu's Muk was different. Its color was a much deeper, more bruised shade of purple than the norm. Just sitting there, it seemed to drain the color from the air around it.

[Muk]

Gender: Female

Level: 99 (Champion Peak)

Type: Poison

Ability: Poison Touch (Has a high chance of poisoning the target upon physical contact.)

Potential: S

"It's the Muk!!" someone in the stands screamed.

Like her Drapion, this Muk had become a legend in the qualifiers. Aside from its toxicity, it was a master of a unique "Soft Combat" style.

No matter how powerful a physical move was, when it hit Muk's gelatinous body, it was like punching a feather floating in the air. The impact was absorbed and dissipated, leaving the attacker wide open for a counter-grab. It was the ultimate "Soft Counter" to aggressive, melee-focused Pokémon.

"Beedrill!! Outrage!! Then use Double Poison Jab!!"

"Siii..."

Facing a hard counter to physical attacks, Kenji remained perfectly calm. He ordered a direct charge, and he ordered it using a Poison-type move—a move that Muk (a pure Poison-type) should resist by half.

Beedrill let out a soft buzz. Its eyes flared crimson as it entered a state of controlled fury. Its twin lances began to glow with a deep, oily purple sheen. The stingers vibrated with such intensity they blurred.

"Muk!! Protect!!"

"Mu-kuhhh!!!! —"

The sludge monster let out a slow cry. Despite its appearance, its reaction was flawless. In an instant, a translucent emerald dome formed around its body.

The moment the shield went up, Beedrill arrived.

BANG!!!! —

The twin lances slammed into the Protect barrier.

The impact triggered a shockwave that tore the top layer of dirt off the arena floor, sending grit and pebbles flying into the energy shields.

Sizzle... Sizzle...

As Beedrill's lances pressed against the green energy, a bizarre sound began to echo—the sound of chemical corrosion.

At the point where the lance tips met the barrier, thick plumes of violet smoke began to rise. To the horror of the audience, the "indestructible" Protect shield began to show visible signs of melting. Beedrill's refined, hyper-acidic venom was literally eating the energy barrier alive!

It was happening so fast that even the high-speed cameras, slowed down a hundred times, struggled to capture the frame where the barrier first began to fail.
