In the official Pokédex, this move's accuracy was listed as a meager 50, primarily because the setup time was too long, allowing any agile opponent to escape.
But Mega Houndoom had just completed the cast in a literal heartbeat. It hadn't given Mega Gallade any time to react.
The purple flames began to contract, closing in on Mega Gallade from all directions.
Mega Gallade prepared to Teleport out of the trap, but Mega Houndoom let out another bark—this one infused with a jarring Dark energy.

The psychic frequency of the Taunt hit Mega Gallade like a physical blow, short-circuiting its ability to use non-damaging moves. The Teleport failed mid-cast.
Trapped and unable to use Protect or Teleport, Mega Gallade was forced to fight its way out.
It spun like a top, its elbow-blades glowing with water energy as it lashed out in every direction.

But against the overwhelming tide of violet fire, the thin blades of water were like a mantis trying to stop a tidal wave.

The Infernal Abyss collapsed inward. Mega Gallade let out a scream of absolute agony. With a heavy THUD, it was driven to its knees.
The purple fire clung to its body, wrapping it in a shroud of burning shadows.
"Gallade!! Life Dew, now!!"
The Taunt had finally worn off, and Li Xisheng pinned his last hopes on the healing move. He needed to douse the flames and heal the damage before his Ace was consumed.
