"A God of Destruction?"
Bulma blinked in surprise. Just moments ago, Trunks had told her that, in the other timeline, a Saiyan named Gran had become a God of Destruction Candidate.
Could it be that their timeline also had such a candidate?
"But... how are we supposed to find a God of Destruction?" Bulma asked with a frown.
If Earth's Guardian were still alive and they still had the Dragon Balls, locating such a deity might not have been too difficult.
But now...
Earth had nothing left.
Back then, they couldn't even revive their loved ones.
She had no idea how they were supposed to find a being of that caliber.
"Bulma Auntie from the other timeline told me that the only way to find a God of Destruction is through a Supreme Kai... or by locating an angel named Whis."
"Then how are we supposed to find a Supreme Kai or an angel?" Bulma asked anxiously.
"Don't worry, Mom. We probably have no chance of finding a Supreme Kai."
"But... we can find Mr. Whis."
According to the original course of events, the Majin Buu crisis would only occur after the Android crisis ended.
Future Trunks had only met the Supreme Kai during that crisis.
At this point in time, finding the Supreme Kai was virtually impossible.
"But if we tempt Mr. Whis with delicious food... he'll definitely come."
Everything the Bulma from the other timeline had told him was engraved in his memory.
Bulma's eyes widened.
Using food to lure a being like that?
Could this Mr. Whis really love food that much?
"All right."
"I trust you."
Bulma had complete faith in her son's words.
Thus, instead of celebrating their victory over the Androids, the mother and son immediately began cleaning up the ruined street.
As they worked through the rubble, cheers from distant survivors echoed from time to time.
It seemed the news of Androids 17 and 18's deaths had already spread to every remaining survivor.
Trunks understood one thing very clearly.
If the Zamasu crisis wasn't stopped...
Those joyful voices would soon disappear once again.
Not long afterward, the street had finally been cleared.
Trunks reached into his jacket and took out a box of Capsule Corp capsules.
"What are those?" Bulma asked curiously.
"They were given to me by the Bulma from the other timeline."
"She said the food inside could summon Mr. Whis."
Trunks explained.
A warm feeling welled up in Bulma's heart.
She already knew that the other timeline had no direct connection to theirs.
Yet another version of herself had still cared for Trunks so deeply.
It genuinely moved her.
Poof!
Trunks tossed a Capsule onto the open ground.
An instant later, countless dishes appeared.
Braised fish.
Whole roasted lamb.
Hot pot.
Garlic spare ribs.
...
Bulma stared in complete astonishment.
She had never seen such extravagant cuisine before.
But...
"It smells incredible!"
She took a deep breath, and her mouth instantly watered.
The Androids had devastated Earth for more than a decade.
It had been so long since she had smelled food this delicious.
To be continued...
"Mom," Trunks said as he looked at the feast, swallowing unconsciously, "the other you told me these dishes were created by Lord Gran, the God of Destruction Candidate."
"She also said... these delicacies would definitely attract Mr. Whis."
"Then let's give it a try."
Bulma nodded, resisting every urge to sneak a bite.
Trunks walked over to the banquet and closed his eyes.
He carefully recalled the exact instructions the other Bulma had given him.
Watching him, Bulma couldn't shake the strange feeling that...
...he looked like he was about to summon Shenron.
Then, Trunks suddenly opened his eyes.
He remembered.
This was how he was supposed to say it...
"O supreme divine attendant of Lord Beerus, God of Destruction of Universe Seven... the all-powerful Angel, Mr. Whis..."
"I have here the most delicious food in the entire universe."
"Would you care to taste it?"
Those were the exact words Bulma from the other timeline had taught him.
She had said that Lord Gran had summoned Whis the very same way.
Standing there with both arms raised toward the sky while reciting those lines...
The whole scene couldn't have looked more awkward.
Bulma's lips twitched repeatedly.
What kind of bizarre summoning spell is this...?
Still, since the one performing it was her own son, she forced herself not to laugh out loud.
She could only suppress her amusement.
Silence filled the ruined street.
Trunks kept both hands raised high.
Two full minutes passed.
Yet the legendary angel never appeared.
"Trunks," Bulma asked in confusion, "weren't you sure this would lure Mr. Whis here?"
"I... I don't know."
Trunks frowned stubbornly.
Unwilling to give up, he raised both hands once more and repeated the entire invocation word for word.
Another minute passed.
The empty street remained exactly the same.
Not a single new figure appeared.
"How is this possible?"
"Bulma Auntie from the other timeline said this would definitely work!"
Anxiety spread across Trunks' face.
If he couldn't summon Whis...
Then he would never find the legendary God of Destruction.
And if he couldn't find Beerus...
How could they possibly stop Zamasu's Zero Mortals Plan?
"Trunks... that's enough."
Seeing the panic on her son's face, Bulma hurried over and embraced him.
"Maybe something just went wrong."
"You've already done everything you could."
"You don't need to blame yourself."
"But..."
"No buts."
"You said yourself that this crisis won't happen for a long time."
"We'll take it one step at a time."
"Maybe the next time we try... Mr. Whis will finally appear."
"...Okay."
Trunks slowly pulled away from his mother's embrace and let out a sigh.
Disappointment was written all over his face.
"Then... I'll pack up all this food first."
Bulma stepped forward, preparing to put away the lavish feast spread across the street.
Suddenly...
A brilliant rainbow-colored streak descended from the heavens.
"So... is this where the most delicious food in the universe is?"
"Oh?"
"It really does smell amazing!"
