She looks away, breathing uneven and for a second, I think she's going to refuse again.
Then….
"Fine."
I still.
She looks back at me, her eyes colder now.
"I'll go," she says. "I'll smile and I'll play your perfect little wife."
Her voice drops.
"But don't confuse that with forgiveness."l
Something uncomfortable shifts in my chest but I ignore it.
"Be ready," I say.
And I walk out befr I say something I can't take back.
Isabella's POV
I don't move for a long time after he leaves. Tje door shuts behind him with a soft click, but it echoes louder than it should. Everything he said just sits there in the room, hanging in the air like something I can't breathe around.
That's what I am right now. A deadline.
I let out a slow breath and press my palms into my eyes.
"Get it together," I mutter to myself.
