It was a hot afternoon, rays of sunlight rested upon restless villagers as they went about their day. Children had returned from school and they ran through the streets.
"You better catch up, you old turtle". A young girl screamed as she ran through a crowd of people.
"Slow down CHILDREN!". A butcher yelled out as other children quickly followed behind the young girl.
The one right behind her was a boy, he was scrawny looking and stopped to catch his breath.
"I think the word you're looking for is tortoise". The boy added as he sat on the ground.
"Whew". He let out.
"He's slowing us down again Martha". A brown haired boy said to the girl as she approached the young boy.
"Come on". She said to the boy as she stretched out her hand, the boy raised his head, his eyes were black and his hair white. He grabbed her hand and got up.
The three children finally reached a hill and screamed out.
"WOW." in unison as they observed multiple ships come in from the seaport.
After sitting and eating the rest of their lunch, the sun began to do down.
The white haired boy said in worry.
"It's getting late guys, we should get home".
The other boy looked at him, shook his head and responded.
"You're scared."
"No, I'm not." The white haired boy quickly replied him.
"He's right. Let's go". The girl said as they three children ran back into the streets and street lights glowed in the dark.
The white haired boy got home.
It was a large cottage with a stable surrounded by a large land of green. He opened the door and took off his shoes.
"Where were you?." An adult woman yelled out as she rushed and hugged him then grabbed his face with her palms. Her hair and eyes were crimson red.
"I'm fine mum, i was with Martha and Silas". The
"Those children will get you in trouble". She said as she rubbed his head.
"Brother." A three year old girl shouted as she hugged the boy. Her hair was white and her eyes were red.
"Hello, Vivian". The boy said as he threw her up.
"How was school". His father asked from the dinner table. He appeared to be a heavily built man in knights guild armour. His eyes were black and his hair white.
"It was fine dad". The boy replied as he sat down and his grabbed some food from the pot unto his plate.
"No trouble today today?". His father asked again.
"None at all Dad". The boy replied.
"That's good". The father responded as he tapped his son's shoulder and continued his meal.
After dinner and a little bit of rest, the family went to bed.
"Arrghhh". The boy screamed out as he struggled in his bed, moving from side to side for a great period of time.
"Are you okay". His parents yelled out as they swung open the door of his room.
A powerful surge of magical pressure released from his body, destroying his bed frame and leaving cracks in the floor. The boy finally woke up.
"He's done it Sue". He's close to unlocking his affinity.
His father said as he hugged his wife.
The next day was upon them.
"You see, so from now on i will train you on how to use mana and a bit of swordsmanship, wouldn't you like that". His father said as he rubbed his hair.
"Yeah dad, that'd be nice". The young boy replied him as they sat on their porch looking at the neighbour go by.
"Who knows, maybe when you get older you can join me at Dominion Guild." He said to his son with a smile.
Seven months has passed.
"Get up son". His father said with a stern voice as he swung his wooden sword.
The young boy was on the ground, his hands pressed against the hay and his wooden sword had fallen from his hand.
He picked it up and took his stance.
They clashed blades and his father got through his defense using the back of his sword to knock him back to the ground.
"Remember what i taught you about blind spots". His father said to him as he dropped his sword.
"I know Dad, i am trying. You're just soo much better and experienced." The boy replied him.
His father folded his lips and stretched out his hand.
"Come on get up". He said.
The boy took his hand and stood upright.
"Don't worry, you'll get there". He said to his son as they both departed from the stable.
"ARTHUR!! ARTHUR!! We need help". A middle aged man screamed out as he ran towards the father and son.
"What happened?". Arthur asked.
"DRAGONS..a lot of them". The man said as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Get inside, find your mother and sister". Arthur screamed out as he picked up his sword and shield from the house and followed the man.
"Mum… MUM!!!". the boy screamed out as he searched the house.
A loud screech was heard above his loud. The boy got scared.
In the blink of an eye, flames burned through the roof and ceiling as two small dragons tore through the ceiling burning everything in their path.
The boy ran for safety but one dragon approached him. He fell in the kitchen and panicked in fear as the dragon drew closer.
He released a powerful pressure of magic followed by gravitational pressure.
The dragon fell to the floor, it turned it's head attempting to burn the boy, the pressure increased. The creature's bones were crushed.
The second dragon caught sight of him and approached but it fell to the floor the pressure increased again so did it's range. The house began to crumble upon the boy.
"My family. I need to find my family". Arthur said to himself as he looked at his surrounding, men, women and dragon ran for their lives as dragons of different shapes and sizes burned through the village, devouring it's inhabitants.
The half burned Arthur dragged his sword as he staggered to his home.
The collapsed house continued to burn as Sue ran with her daughter in hand, she was accompanied by a neighbour.
"Hold her for me, Flora". She said to her neighbour as she ran into the rubble searching for her son.
His cough caught her attention.
"Where are you?". She ran in the direction of his voice throwing away rubble and finally she found him. He was covered in ashes and was greatly wounded.
The second small dragon emerged from the rubble dragging it's claw across the boy's face. His mother quicky stabbed the wounded beast with a dagger.
"We need to get out of here". She said to flora as she picked up her son in her arms.
A loud roar was heared. A large dragon landed on the rubble that was once their home.
"Run Flora, head to the seaport". She yelled out as the dragon poured a sea of fire upon her. She had thrown her son to the ground. The dragon consumed her burning body, blood dripping from its mouth.
The wounded boy screamed out in horror. The dragon approached him.
A sword drove into it's eye. It was Arthur, in a last attempt to protect his family.
"Run, look after your sister. Don't look back". He yelled out as the dragon threw him off with it's tail and burned him alive.
Tears rolled down the boy's eyes but he ran.
Flora reached the port but the ships were burnt down and from the burning ships emerged swarms of smaller dragons.
Flora reacted instinctively, she pushed the boy into the water and she was burned with his sister in her arms.
The boy could not comprehend what has happened, how his life could change soo fast, maybe it was a dream he thought to himself but he could feel the pains and aches on his body. It was real.
Everyone he knew was dead and he sank deeper into the water.
Darkness emerged from the waters ripping through the swarm of little dragons, manifesting his hate, his anger.
His head began to black out. He was drowning.
Above water, airships had arrived with several knight teams, they landed on the island where the town was and began an all out assault on the dragons.
