Chapter 308 - Chapter 307: Kryptonite Stolen

"Kryptonite..."

Amanda Waller's expression was subtle. Although she had sent Atomica to infiltrate the Justice League, she hadn't expected that so soon, Atomica would already have critical intelligence.

Superman could actually be weakened by something called "Kryptonite"!

This discovery was no less significant than Columbus discovering the New World for them.

Waller felt a surge of excitement and thrill, but also a touch of worry.

She didn't hate metahumans as much as General Lane. Perhaps she did before, but after leading a team of metahumans herself, she realized that aside from their strange abilities, metahumans were actually ordinary people.

While this wouldn't make her hesitate when it was time to act, it still affected her rational judgment.

"How many people know about this?" she asked Atomica.

Atomica was only palm-sized at this point, standing on Waller's desk.

"Basically, all core members know. It is said that when they fought the Kryptonian invaders and Doomsday, they used weapons made of Kryptonite."

Amanda recalled events from some time ago. Before Steppenwolf's invasion, the World was once on the brink of collapse.

The reason was that Eros had claimed at the time that one of their Bases had been attacked by a group suspected to be Kryptonians, and they had defended themselves out of self-preservation.

At that time, Eros had even initiated acts of war!

However, because the losses were not significant, and the United States lacked the ability to retaliate in time, and later because the Justice League promptly dealt with the mastermind, the matter was dropped.

And the subsequent long-term consequences were somewhat alleviated by the World's unity against foreign enemies a few days prior.

Therefore, let alone not knowing the truth of the matter, even if they could find out, they wouldn't dare to act.

Except for warmongers, no one wanted the World to once again be shrouded in the dark clouds of war.

Amanda Waller was the same. She hoped Superman's weakness was something only she could control, allowing her to limit him, or even control him.

But she did not wish for his weakness to be something anyone could exploit, which meant others could also use his weakness to turn him to evil.

So she asked again: "How much do you know about this Kryptonite, or rather, do you know where to find these things?"

Atomica shook her head: "As far as I know, Kryptonite is a substance produced when Krypton exploded. It can basically only be found on Krypton; there are no native Kryptonite ores on Earth."

Amanda relaxed her body upon hearing this; at least Kryptonite wouldn't proliferate on Earth, which was good.

If Superman could be hit by a Kryptonite bullet anywhere, anytime on the street, she wouldn't know what to do.

But then she suddenly realized, if Kryptonite could only be produced on Krypton, how did the Justice League get it?

Atomica quickly answered her question: "I heard it was Shazam. He once went to the Kryptonian ruins and collected some Kryptonite there."

"Shazam can travel between stars?" Amanda noted this point.

Atomica nodded. This was unknown to the outside World, but the Justice League had not kept this information secret internally.

"Shazam and the Green Lantern Corps' homeworld Oa seem to have some connection; he often travels interstellarly."

Amanda pinched the bridge of her nose, her brain working rapidly.

Shazam, Shazam!

This leader of the Justice League was the least seen of all the superheroes.

Other heroes basically had their primary cities of residence: Superman's Metropolis, Batman's Gotham, Flash's Central City, Hawkman's St. Roch, and so on.

Only Shazam, he almost only appeared during major events or significant natural disasters.

And Amanda noticed that Shazam's patrol range was very wide; his presence could be seen not only throughout All America but even in many foreign countries.

The Justice League having a teleportation technology was intelligence known to all countries, but that thing could not be replicated; it was a product of combined technology and magic.

Even if Shazam taught them hand-in-hand, they wouldn't be able to learn it.

It was precisely because of the existence of this inconspicuous item that governments worldwide were wary of the Justice League.

Their biggest weapon was nuclear arms, but the Justice League's teleporter could instantly transport them to the other side of the Earth.

Therefore, unless they blew up the Earth, as long as that damned teleporter existed, they couldn't kill a single hero, even heroes without superpowers.

And now it was even harder; their Base had moved into space, making their nuclear weapons a complete joke.
