What the child does with this inheritance is not determined. I don't predict. I observe that the inheritance is real and significant and unlike anything I've encountered in my period of observation.
I note this because I thought someone should note it formally.
— Thalassian
Lyra read the letter after Satou.
She put it down.
She looked at the adjacent room.
"He's saying the child will understand what this place is through the temporal field itself," she said.
"Before they have language for it," Satou said.
"Yes," she said. "And with language for it too, when the language comes." She paused. "Thalassian is saying: the inheritance is the argument."
He looked at the letter.
At four pages from the oldest member of the demon lord council, who didn't predict, who only observed, who had been watching for longer than most of the world's current features had existed.
'The argument,' he thought.
He thought about five hundred sixty markers.
