Chapter 61 - 'SEE YOU MORNING' 061 Lübeck's Recruitment Plan《

The morning service carriage brought Lübeck back to the security force headquarters. Lübeck sought out Trudy to inquire about the security officers' reactions following Joachim's funeral.

"Some people were indignant—probably friends who were pretty close—but most others were fairly calm," Trudy replied.

"Well, in a few days they'll be needed to maintain order during the large-scale property survey. I hope they can keep their emotions in check and uphold impartial law enforcement," Lü Beck explained.

"Alright, I'll reiterate the enforcement discipline to them."

"Well, in a few days, my voyage will require more armed soldiers," Lübeck said, pulling out another list and handing it to Trudy as he explained,

Notify the personnel on the list to take leave and return home to rest and prepare for deployment at any time. If this affects your security team's staffing, you may requisition soldiers from the supply depot. Also, those on the list may voluntarily opt out—this is a voluntary mission. Be sure to inform them of this. For those who agree, allow them to return home on leave and prepare to receive mission notifications.

"Okay,"

After finishing his discussion with Trudy from the security team, Lübeck proceeded to the town hall. Following consultations with Miller and other staff members, he discovered numerous reports indicating that boundary markers for fields and pastures were already being altered.

"Were there no security personnel present to maintain order?" Lübeck asked.

"Before or after surveying records are made, they may be maliciously tampered with, which could affect subsequent work or the certification of adjacent locations," said clerk William.

"So, how about this? Let's make them single-numbered marker stakes," Lübeck asked for everyone's input.

"But if it stays overnight, there's a chance it could be moved. Even during the day, if no one's watching, it might still be moved," Kurt said, glancing at William.

"Then we'll have to bury markers on a large scale and record the positional and directional data between them. By analyzing this related data, we can identify if any individual markers have been tampered with," Miller suggested.

"Well, that's one approach," Lübeck said, nodding in agreement.

"If we proceed this way, based on the current plan, we'll need peak staffing levels for labor and surveyors. Could you compile the demand forecast based on the statistical survey?" Lübeck addressed William and Kurt.

"Yes, Mayor,"

"If necessary, dispatch messengers to notify each commune to submit qualified candidates first, especially those with surveying skills. If there aren't enough, we'll have to recruit more and train them," Lü Beck advised them.

"I'll handle this. Let them focus on their current tasks," Miller said.

Alright, if there are no further objections, let's proceed with the work as planned for now. We'll address any issues that arise later.

After settling matters at City Hall, Lübeck had lunch and left the building. As usual, he headed toward the market, where crowds gathered from all over, carrying news from every corner. He enjoyed listening and asking questions.

The rotation period of the Sanctuary is slightly longer than Earth's, but its gravity is somewhat weaker. Due to the presence of two suns, the proportion of nighttime in a day is slightly shorter, though there are no phenomena of perpetual daylight or darkness. After making a round at the market and buying some more fish, Lübeck returned home early today. Instead of going inside, he went to the backyard to clean the fish while feeding the chickens.

In the end, it was the observant Ruth who noticed his return. She quietly slipped out of the house and joined him in the backyard, sitting beside him and helping with whatever he was working on.

Today, Ruth wore a black blouse with a white lace lotus collar. The orange-red sunlight streamed in from behind her, filtering through her brown hair to illuminate the patterns on her neck and collar. It traced the contours of her slender upper body, further accentuating her grace and elegance.

Lübeck wanted to embrace her, but his hands were covered in fish scales and guts. Instead, he leaned in and gave her a deep kiss. Afterward, they gazed at each other. Her eyes and face seemed to hold the frozen passage of their shared years.

"Do you think the Schmidts will make the first move, or will the Bauls do it?" Ruth asked softly.

It's hard to say. These two factions are fairly evenly matched, and both have their own internal radicals. The last clash with the security squad actually involved members from both sides. What happens next is entirely up to them.

"You'd be wise not to get involved in their conflicts, lest you incur their resentment," Ruth would often discuss Lübeck's work matters and the outside world with him, as if her thoughts were constantly drawn to him.

"Actually, the feud between those two families isn't the only conflict—they bully others too," Lübeck said with a laugh, then continued,

Many people who have been bullied have reported their cases to me and the security team.

"Ha ha." Ruth's smile lingered on her face; learning about the outside world through Lübeck seemed to be another source of her joy. After the laughter subsided, Ruth grew pensive again, speaking as she pondered.

But I'm still worried their conflict might escalate, or that they might join forces against you.

It's not entirely impossible. First off, we have armed security personnel stationed around the perimeter, and the public security team conducts regular patrols. Due to recent incidents, security measures have been significantly reinforced. You really don't need to worry too much.

"Oh, that's good."

Well, this time it's up to them to decide—whether to abide by the rules or defy the existing order.

"So, if they keep going, will there be more casualties?" Ruth asked with concern.

Given the current situation, it's almost inevitable that things will unfold in that direction.

"Could we persuade them to stop resisting?"

"You're so naive," Lübeck said, gazing into Ruth's eyes with a smile for a moment before continuing,

Can you stop a frightened horse?

"Me?" Ruth instinctively glanced down at her frail body before continuing,

"Well, maybe someone with a strong physique could manage it,"

"Then you could just wait for the horse to tire itself out and stop on its own? It's not our horse anyway—let it run wherever it wants."

"Ha ha ha, but you still haven't told me how the conflict between the Schmidt and Bauer families was resolved!" Ruth asked with a laugh.

"You could also shoot the horse and rifle," Lübeck said decisively.

"Oh," Ruth was startled by Lübeck's cold reply.

"Of course, it would be better if they stopped fighting," Lübeck added, though he knew full well that few could restrain their swelling desires and arrogance. He simply didn't want to delve further into this ugly topic with Ruth.
