First Period, Morning
In most classrooms of Sobu High School, classes had already begun normally.
Teachers were writing formulas on the blackboard and students were taking notes seriously.
Some were answering the questions that their teacher asked, while others were quietly reading textbooks.
The school had entered its usual morning rhythm.
However…Class F was completely different.
The classroom was eerily quiet as if no one want to asked or speak anything. No one even dared to move too much.
All the students were staring toward the podium with an extremely complicated expressions.
Because in front of them—
Their homeroom teacher, a certain white-haired man, was currently busy doing something unbelievable but also not surprising considering him.....
On the podium.
Right where teachers normally used to teach their student.
Gojo Satoru was spreading a futon on the floor.
Yes.
A futon.
And a thick white quilt.
A soft, fluffy pillow to go along with them.
Everything looked perfectly prepared, as if this podium was always meant to be used as a small bedroom.
Gojo stretched his arms lazily and patted the pillow twice.
"Alright…" Then he looked toward the stunned and silent students. His shiny sky-blue eyes were half open, clearly showing signs of exhaustion.
"Well," Gojo began casually, waving his hand. " Your Sensei didn't sleep well last night—" He yawned in the middle of the sentence."—So I'm going to take a nap here, okay..."
The class: "…."
Gojo continued speaking as if this were completely normal.
"Class F is full of good kids, right? So remember to wake me up when class is over."
He paused. Then added seriously—
"And don't forget to say Good Morning when you leave."
The students' faces immediately filled with black lines.
But before anyone could react—
Gojo had already laid down on the futon, as he slowly pulled the quilt over his body.
Turned sideways. Adjusted the pillow slightly to make it more comfortable.
Then closed his eyes.
Three seconds later—
"Hoo… hoo… hoo…"
Snoring noise could be heard from the futon.
"....."
"....."
"....."
The classroom fell into dead silence.
Several students eyebrow twitched as they couldn't believe what was happening infront of their eyes!
"…He fell asleep."
"Please, tell me I'm dreaming too...."
"…That was fast...."
"And just when we thought it couldn't get any worst...."
"…Is this even allowed?"
Even Mei Misaki, who normally kept a calm and indifferent expression behind her eyepatch, couldn't help rubbing her forehead.
In the middle row, someone suddenly laughed quietly.
"Pfft…"
The one laughing was Shirakawa Shiroha as she covered her mouth while trying to hold back her laughter.
Then she nudged the girl beside her.
" Marin, look…"
She turned her head.
"…Marin?"
But the moment she looked froze.
Because Kitagawa Marin looked even worse than Gojo!
Her golden hair was messy, eyes were half-closed.Two extremely dark circles were visible under her eyes. Her body swayed slightly as if she might fall asleep at any moment!
Shirakawa Shiroha blinked, as she called again. Shaking her friend lightly on the shoulder.
"…Marin?"
"Huh?!" Marin suddenly jerked awake as she looked around blankly, before turning towards her friend. "Ah~? What did you call me just now…?"
Her voice sounded sleepy and confused.
"It's so cool…"
"No, never mind. You should just go to sleep."
As she quietly turned her head away, showing only the back of her head.
However—
Her shoulders were shaking slightly. As her face had turned slightly red...
One Gojo Satoru sleeping on the podium, while Kitagawa Marin too is barely staying awake.
These two…Were they here to study or have a sleepover?
Shirakawa Shiroha couldn't help as her thought began to run a marathon!
Marin rubbed her eyes, without thinking top much of it, "Oh… okay…"
She stretched lazily. "Then I'll go to sleep first, please wake me up with the class began."
After saying that she leaned forward and placed her head on the desk.
Her voice became softer. "Good night, Shiroha… Benio… Mei-chan…"
The girls nearby immediately reacted.
"Stop talking," Shirakawa Shiroha said. "You should sleep already. I'm honestly afraid you'll suddenly die here."
"I agree with what Shiroha said." Benio Adashino crossed her arms calmly.
"If that happens, Sobu High School will gain another blonde female ghost." She paused. "But don't worry. I can exorcise you."
{T/N: What do you mean by another!!}
Mei Misaki nodded quietly. "I can confirm your death first."
Marin weakly raised her head with a wrong expression.
"What…? I won't die so...suddenly…"
But before she could finish speaking—
Her heavy eyelids finally won the battle as Marin fell asleep instantly.
"…Zzz…"
The reason why Marin was so tired was simple..not whatever Shirakawa Shiroha was thinking about.
She hadn't slept at all last night as she was very excited. After all, her long-awaited cosplay costume was almost finished!
And during that time, she had also discovered a new cosplay blogger online.
A girl who was extremely talented in costume design and she was a famous Twitter cosplayer too on top of that!
Marin had spent the entire night watching her posts and was completely immersed in cosplay discussions with the said girl.
Now the result for that had arrived.
She collapsed the moment she tired to rest.
"…"
Shiroha shook her head helplessly.
"She's really amazing."
Just then—
A gentle voice came from the front row.
"Shiroha… Benio… Mei-chan…"
The girls turned. Standing beside them was Chitanda Eru.
Her violet eyes sparkled with curiosity as usual. She had quietly walked from the front row to the back. After seeing that Marin was sleeping, she had lowered her voice.
"What's wrong, Eru?"
Shiroha asked while secretly putting away her phone. She had secretly too a picture of Marin before Eru arrived.
"I guess Eru wants to tell us another urban legend." Benio said lightly, already used to this new friend.
Mei Misaki nodded slightly. "Probably."
Chitanda immediately smiled. "Correct answer!"
As she leaned forward excitedly. "But this time it's different. It's a practically confirmed evidence!"
The girls looked at each other before again turning towards Eru.
Eru quickly took out her phone, opening the gallery before saying with a mysterious face, in a low voice as much as she could.
"Look at this video! It's really shocking!"
She placed the phone on Mei Misaki's desk.
The four girls leaned closer to watch.
.....
Video content—
The footage was recorded at night. The sky was already dark. From the camera angle, the person recording seemed to be standing on top of a tall building.
The voice of the uploader could be heard.
"Wow… the stars look really beautiful tonight."
The camera slowly moved across the skyline.
Then suddenly—
BOOM!
A deafening explosion echoed in the distance as the camera shook violently.
In the far distance—
Several scarlet beams of light shot from the ground straight into the sky as the nearby buildings collapsed.
With dust rising everywhere. The sky had already began to turn into a deep red shade.
"WHAT?!"
The person filming shouted fearfully and...excitedly.
"Is this a superpower battle?! This must be a superpower battle!"
The camera zoomed in desperately.
But before anything else could be seen—
A strange male voice suddenly came from behind.
"What are you doing? No filming allowed. Follow me."
This was the end of the video as a replay button appear on the screen.
.....
After watching the video, the girls fell into silence as they exchange looks with each other.
Unlike ordinary students—
They knew the truth about the hidden world.
Benio Adashino was an Exorcist.
Mei Misaki had experienced her own fair share of supernatural incidents.
Shiroha possessed strong spiritual power and also was involved in an supernatural incident where she get to know about Gojo Satoru.
So they immediately understood something.
Chitanda Eru, however, had a completely different reaction. Her eyes sparkled with excitement. As if she had forgotten what incident she was in....
"See?! There must be monsters, Onmyoji, and superpowers in this world!" She whispered excitedly. "Luckily I saved the video quickly! Otherwise you wouldn't be able to see it!"
She clenched her fists.
"Ah~ I really want to see that kind of battle! It makes me so curious!"
The others forced smiles.
What Eru didn't know was—She had actually experienced a demonic event that same night.
But the official agencies had erased most evidence, they had also convinced her family to not say anything about it to her or anyone else.
Benio crossed her arms thoughtfully, as she put on an act. Awkwardly.
"Maybe…It's possible."
Fortunately—
The video had been recorded from far away.
There were no clear images of the Exorcist, or anti-monster teams fighting.
Otherwise things would be much more troublesome.....
The real reason the video existed was simple.
The barrier user responsible for sealing the battlefield had made a mistake.
Form the look of it the barrier range had been too large. And some ordinary civilians had been caught inside by mistake.
The official authorities hadn't finished evacuating people yet and when they were busy trying to save them, someone managed to upload the video online.
Even though the video was quickly deleted…
There were always people like Chitanda Eru who had saved it.
Shiroha quickly changed the topic.
"Anyway, Eru…Why don't you change your seat and sit in front of me? That way we can talk more easily. Instead of sneaking over here every time."
She smiled naturally.
But in her mind—
She remembered something clearly.
The beam of light in that video…
It wasn't 100% identical to Gojo Satoru's technique during that Incident. But it was at least 90% similar.
Gojo Satoru's mastery of the [Reverse Technique: Red] could produce shockwaves, spheres, and even powerful beams of light.
Coincidence?
She doubted it.
"Change seats?" Chitanda blinked. Then she smiled brightly. "Okay! I'll ask Gojo-sensei when he wakes up!"
Her violet eyes glanced toward the podium, where Gojo Satoru—their teacher was still sleeping peacefully.
She felt slightly embarrassed.
After all…
Their teacher was literally sleeping in class.
Just then—
RINGGGG!
The bell rang loudly as the Class ended.
The noise of students standing up filled the classroom.
Gojo too suddenly sat up.
"Hmm?"
A nearby student who was getting ready greeted him.
"Gojo-sensei, you're awake."
Gojo waved lazily.
He still looked half asleep.
Then— He placed two fingers against his temple.
[Reverse Cursed Technique]
A white or colorless energy began to circulated through his brain, refreshing it as his mind instantly became clear from the drowsiness.
"Ahhh…" He stretched happily. "Now that feels comfortable."
Gojo stood up from the futon with a satisfied smile.
'I do enjoy sleeping…But if I can't sleep enough…'
He shrugged casually, as he continue his inner monologue, 'I'll just fix it myself.'
Self-sufficiency.
That was the Gojo's way.
